Hah, you made my decision for me C.S.! I have been looking at https://dobberprospects.com/player/axel-sandin-pellikka/ and https://dobberprospects.com/player/seamus-casey/ off an on all morning while my new ductwork is installed (3200 to get rid of old asbestos taped ducts: but heat exchanger installer effed up so the new ducting is free of charge!!) Without further ado: Team LIONS takes Seamus Casey to fill our final D spot. @Gator -

[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
Primal Optimist replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
I am kinda with you on a high end defender to pair with our high end offencer on the blueline. I am not quite actively cheering for the team to lose yet though, hahaha....one win away from .500!! -
[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
Primal Optimist replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
I really don't think we need a rebuild in the way most people are thinking it: we need one new Dman who can play defense at a high level and ONE upgrade on Myers. We can trade away one of our top forwards and Myers to get that done, I think. if we lose two forwards and come out wiht a vastly improved D that is cool too. I dig OEL, I dig Hughes, I like Bear and i even like Stillman at his price. If we are getting calls on Schenn, at 33, lets trade him out for another asset to get better long term, maybe a pick, maybe a young player, who knows. There are nine guys up front I rally like, and one might be lost in the predeadline shuffle: but having 8 f and 4 D and two G that I enjoy and I think are good at their jobs doesn't scream rebuild, it screams 'put some frosting on that cake'. The faster we move Myers out the better, imo. EDIT: TO answer the poll question: yeah i would obviously stick around through a rebuild but I just don't think we need one. Ship out Myers, trade one of our top nine out for help on D and most of the heavy lifting is done. -
As noted on Discord, I am resigning my position with the Vancouver Canucks. Best of luck to the good folks here, but this league isn't for me if it allows banned CDC members to be in it. I loved playing the Canucks GM here, I think i have a pretty cool team, but after a very long time of hoping the league would move on from Monty, it is clear that it is simply time I move on. Adios.

Team Finland really tends to enforce 'role' over skill: It is rare for an international Fin defender to score a lot of goals because the team dynamic is that the Defence defends, pass to the centers who dish to the wingers who shoot on net. It is formulaic and has worked year after year and allows the club to plug and play any new working part into the machine with great success. (Defence was an example: but in Ville's particular spot, he was relied upon to be a shutdown player (he had zero points but ended the tourny a plus 1 at five on five) just a few months ago at the WJC 2022 redux and I decided it is very likely he will once again get to showcase his defensive prowess. Likely my mistake though, he oozes skill, speed and talent over 200 feet. -

Ballsy pick, i will give you that. 5'10" and only 16 years old...he might see every second game if he is on the roster, but a superb pick for next year and the year after that!! Hope I am wrong and he lights it up! -

I hope no one is shocked: Leo Carlsson "Leo" still allows him to fit my Young Lions club for the World Juniors. hehe. @Gator -

I wonder if NHL clubs are reluctant to allow their assets to go? It has happened in the past, even for players not playing at the NHL level at the time. -

i have no problem with the six hour window, i was just hoping to get an agreement before any one person would think they were being targeted: I find almost everyone thinks that policy discussion is targeting them or someone they know when it really truely never is: it is just about policy. I think the fairest way in this kind of a snake draft one off every year is to just autoskip someone until they make up their first missed pick, but at this point i am just beating a horse that has already dropped dead, lol. No worries. -

I am okay being outvoted, but my dislike of waiting on someone who misseed their original 6 hour window and never made up the pick is twofold: it stalls the draft for someone who isn't that into it, clearly, missing a full six hours and then still missing in action when their turn comes around again: AND it gives the bookend two guys, in this case you and Rush17 a 12 hour window, which is an unfair advantage. LIkely you specific two don't use twelve hours, but thinking in broad general sweeps, any person in the 1st or 10th pick spot every year has a 12 hour window using the snake draft method if we don't autoskip after the first missed pick. THat is all i have on the subject, i don't care enough to fight about it, but my reasons are based in logic and not wanting to sit around stalled out waiting for 12 hours, potentially, when 90% of folks pick within minutes. I won't speak on it anymore, i think my points are self evident ((thinking back to a league draft year, the guy with number one pick sat on it for two weeks until the 'pick anytime you want' window expired, and his time on the clock was all used up and then with moments left to pick, made his pick: just a dick move and leaving room to be a dick sucks. (and then that guy quit the league a few weeks or a month later) lol -

Some years we have skipped a guy who doesn't pick and then wait another full window for a second pick.. I think we should autoskip anyone who has not made up their missed pick by the time their next pick is due. -
