  1. and now CBJ needs a goalie all of a sudden, hrm I wonder if Cory or Lu might be in play to Columbus?
  2. Also C2X, you may have missed my announcement that we are setting our front office budget at 16 million medical and the remainder on player development. THank you. edit: Dvorak has been fixed, thanks.
  3. I am so glad my front office team prioritized Mike Smith as our number one contract issue way back in January. We worked first and foremost to secure Mike long term and with the news coming in from a large number of sources now on a 6 year 5.7million dollar NHL deal to stay in Phoenix, or where ever Phoenix ends up, we are glad we took the slight gamble and had it pay off. Congrats to Mike Smith and to all of New York Rangers franchise stakeholders and fans. A great partnership will continue for at least the next five seasons.
  4. MSG NEWS 2013 Offseason Edition: The New York Rangers have announced a slight adjustment to their off-season depth chart in anticipation of the unofficial 'trade deadline' tomorrow and then more importantly July 5th's Free Agency period. New York Rangers Thomas Vanek | Joe Thornton | Jiri Hudler Ryan Malone | Matt Stajan | Nik Antropov Marcus Foligno | Mikael Backlund | Radek Dvorak Devante Smith-Pelly | Shawn Matthias | Chris Brown | Jeremy Welsh | Sheldon Souray | Jake Muzzin Sami Salo | Kevin Klein Mark Stuart | Philip Larsen Connor Murphy | Robert Bortuzzo Mike Smith Justin Peters The Connecticut Whale Carter Ashton | Adam Cracknell | Nick Palmieri Cody Bass | Philip McRae | Maxim Shalunov Craig Cunningham | Carson McMillan | Corey Cowick Andrew Johnston | ........................... | Mike Testwuide Matt Bartkowski | Bobby Sanguinetti Brett Carson | Ty Wishart Colten Teubert | Mike Moore Chad Johnson *kindly adviise of any inadvertent ommissions
  5. Radek Dvorak $1,750,000 Just noticed that on the list of UFA's and I have signed Radek over the course of the last month. Thanks
  6. hahaha, i didn't notice exactly until Squeak pointed it out. So far this has been a season of dreams for me, as a fan. AV: out. Torts: in, and now I read this morning my other pet 'dream' is being worked on by the Canucks brass....Schneids: possibly out. No secret that I have disliked AV as our coach for about six years, and I have also said several times that Cory may have to be the one to go, and quite rightly should be traded. The logic of it is overwhelming: no NTC, easier to move contract, young and 'future so bright he is bound to bring in the highest return, but most importantly, Luongo is a great goaltender who has a proven track record and an easy to keep cap hit, not to mention a gold medal at the most recent olympics. AV, in my mind, caused the controversy, Av is gone, Gillis can attribute the goalie issue to AV and move forward with Lu. Cory will bring in the highest return due to a combination of factors, mostly the length and cost of the remaining LU contract and we can win with either goalie in net. It was never the goalie controversy it was the playoff GOALS controversy, and that needs to be addressed.
  7. Thank you, the Rangers have been hard at work paring down the talent and making critical decisions that may affect who is signed heading into next offseason. Months of working on the minutia of a deep, talented cap compliant roster: time sink. Starting to work on the big picture with some UFA/RFA money: priceless.
  8. So anyone on the UFA/RFA lists as of say tomorrow morning, is a bonafide UFA or RFA open to receiving offers in the new month, right? I don't want to lose a draft pick for tampering if i fire in an offer, and followup question, the offers may come in at 2 minutes after midnight in the first, but if say they come in at noon on the 3rd, they would get just as much weight as if they came in at the top of the new month?
  9. did we ever see the scores of the second stage of the WC tourny?
  10. I think Tanguay had to go in Calgary. He is a great two way player who will be 34 years old in November with three years left on a hard to move contract, limited NTC. 3.5m cap hit for him at age 36 might be a stretch for a guy whose plus minus and minutes on the ice are in decline. Moving him while he has value is a great option, glad they did it. Plus this leaves more roster room for Backlund.
  11. Some really good players being bought out in the NHL this week, wow. There is going to be a lot of Free Agent multi-millionaire hockey players who KNOW they are getting another multi-million dollar paycheck for a long long time. How will this impact the off season i wonder?
  12. with 2 goalies, 5 dmen, and 10 forwards under contract in the NHL's Hurricanes team and 7.3 million in cap space, it looks like Justin Peters may get a legitimate season as the backup under his belt this coming year. Assuming that 7million is spread around to 7 players to flush out their lines and depth, we could see Carolina just trying to hold on to get through the low cap season while hanging on to all their Staal's. The downside here is Bobby Sanguinetti looks to be hitting the free market this offseason rather than be offered a new deal. ANything that improves Justin's chances at ice time is okay by us! On the farm this year Justin was 22-12 and 1 but struggled a bit going 4-11-1 in the bigs. The value priced backup has one year remaining on his contract.
  13. I want it to be draft day now. o.o
  14. I wanted Bo before Mantha, was actually put out when you picked him Squeak, haha imo no matter where he goes in the draft he will be a good player.
  15. Thanks for the link, happy to see Anthony Mantha i got him at 18th, listed at 15th here, but he was inside my top ten on my list of wants from the first round. Very glad to have been able to get him at 18th. My other guy, this is funny, he got an honourable mention here, after the 75th ranked player...Gabby Boudreau. I picked him up at 49th, after flipping Olivier Roy to WInnipeg, whom i grabbed at 47th. I wasn't totally sold on Roy, Curt wanted him and I was intrigued by Gabby. This is a guy who is basically ranked 76th on this list here but he put up 63 points in 67 games and was +31 and then went on to put in 18 points in 18 games in teh playoffs for Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Q. His problem you might ask? He is generously listed at 5'11" tall, maybe borrowing a quarter inch to get there...and it was his rookie season in the QMAAA the two years before. And before that you might ask? Well before that no on eheard of him. He is intriqueing as all hell and I think he will go in the 4th round of the real draft, but will be one of the few that go so late who really flash it up in the NHL. (*i just get Bure goosebumps watching his highlights and that tells me to pick this kid!) EDIT: if you will all forgive me for using the 'bure' comparison, i only meant it in that comparable to his contemporaries on the ice, Gabby is fast, skilled, has the hands, bursts of speed, rapid fire hockey sense, and what appears to be huge potential...obviously i know he is no bure. Here watch this clip from two seasons ago, before his rookie season in the Q:
  16. I can answer that one i think, first of all, once you see a player is waived in the thread, you send Canuck2xtreme a private message on the boards here telling him you want to claim the player, you have 24 hours to do so from the moment the post waiving him is posted. As for the budgets: like the NHL teams do we have an offseason 'bloat' to allow GM's to acquire guys, move guys out, shuffle things around and get their team in order during the offseason where the strict budgetary guidelines don't constrain us. BUT you have to be in full compliance by the time hockey is back on and I am sure there are other rules that C2X can enlighten us on later. Most people waiving guys yesterday was to buy them out today as its a deadline thing... Hope that helped quickly and the league officials can clarify the details later.
  17. Have we got a rule for callups after the deadline? I think the real deal is 4 and then emergency only after that, like if you lose one of your two goalies to injury or less than 18 players available to play, right? Perhaps we should consider such a thing here if we dont' already do so: four callups after the trade deadline per team max and then after that is all used, only emergency goalies or skaters if your team is below 2 and 18 respectively. : )
  18. MSG News 2013: Offseason Edition. The New York Rangers wish to express thanks to Guy and Tim for their service and wish them all the best. I am glad these guys have found a way forward in their CDCGML careers, and to the claiming GM's, you have each made a good choice today. I spoke at length about Tim already, but Guillaume is a very special talent and skill guy who has had the unfortunate impact of injuries the last few years. As we moved forward in our process we believed that Mr. Latendresse would provide ample return and upside, however evaluations continued after we acquired him may 4th, and it became clear moving forward that we would need to expose him to waivers to move him to a suitable roster spot, and doing so yesterday amid a myriad of other teams made sense. Both men leave with our respect and a future in the GML to look forward to.
  19. As the GM of Team Finland, it was an honour to hear from Miikka personally regarding this matter, rather than hear it from the recap on TSN. This year we had pre-empted this possibility by steering away from Kipper on our national team. Finishing the round robin dead last however, has me second guessing the method we came into the WC with in mind. I have no doubt this great goaltender is a Star not only destined for the Hockey Hall of Fame, but may well retire as The Finnish bar setter. A nation with an outstanding goaltending program, nationally a nation at large of 5million people has put so many net minders into the NHL just in the past 2 decades, it staggers the mind. He will be missed from IIHF and NHL competition, but perhaps an SM-Liga return is on the horizon?
  20. MSG News 2013: Offseason Edition. The New York Rangers are making it official this morning and setting their 2013-14 season Front Office Budget. The official Medical and Training Budget will sit at 16 million dollars. The remaining 19 million dollars available will be spent on Player Development. We fully reviewed our needs and goals as an organization and determined no less than 14m could go into Medical, and No less than 15 million was needed for player development, the remaining 6 million failed to reach the minimum threshold for Player Relations and so was optimized in the two departments of most use to our club. This concludes our Front Office Budget announcement for the 13-14 season, thank you.
  21. So now that it is official on pickuphockey at 86-49 for the Islanders, here is my final series breakdown if we were using a 7 game series, you won't believe it. LA Kings won game one 10-8 NY Isles won game 2 a whopping 22-0 NY Isles won game 3 29-4 Then it got interesting. LA Kings pushed back and won game four 20-14 Then they also won game five 9 -4 This would have meant that the teams are tied 3 games a piece and with LA's top seed in the West, and the Islanders 2nd seed in the East, home ice advantage, the tie breaker for game 7 (where they would be tied 0-0 due to no players left playing).. ....takes a deep breath.... would have gone to the KINGS who would have repeated as Champs if the best of seven games format was used, as this was the only series in play either of TM/Otts method of tracking game 1 totals for each player et cetera, or my whacky game days method would have had identical results. So there you have it, my tracking of the alternate 7 game series style of playoff formatting is done, i will leave it with the executive from here on out. I Think it shows that each series is much closer than the total scores at the end would make you think.
  22. Heres to the Islanders! Well Done TM, start to finish, a great year for your club. Ace, the King's are up there with the other heavy weights in our league, Champions last year, losing in late June this year, you have every right to be proud too. Tonight seems to belong to the Isles though! Side note: our division appears very very tough, I love a challenge, and I think I am up for it. Oh what a season is ahead of us. At least the Kings and Buffalo are not here in the "D" division. Do we have names for them yet? is the NHL working on it?
  23. its no wonder my flag has blue on it..my team is black and blue from this division! edit: no disrespect but we know we can play with Team Canada and not look like Estonia. I am hoping for some good bounces and the rest well, you make your own luck, and my team makes luck happen.
  24. ^^ forget tying team europe...i was beaten two games by guys that are on my own CDCGML team....stewie griffin voice: "Hoisted by my own petard". That settles it, We are going to try Nik on the top line right wing this september in a few game situations. haha.
