  1. WAIVERS: The New York Rangers place Guillaume Latendresse on Waivers.
  2. Statement from New York Rangers GM Primal Optimist. "Regarding Tim Brent's second round through waivers this week, we would like to set the record strait that our organization really appreciates Tim and everything he brings to the game we all love. It was our firm belief that Mr. Brent would be picked up off waivers last week, and further, that a small deal may be able to be done following the waiver window. He is as fine a role player as you will find in this league, and he has my respect as a professional hockey player. I would encourage anyone seeking depth to seek out Tim's skills, and while we intend to buy him out, we wish him the best in the future in life and in our league. This was a tough process, in a cap tightening year to have to go through and we tried everything we could to avoid a buyout situation, but the facts don't change, that we are close to 50 players in our system, the cap crunch converging with younger players pushing for roster spots. This is never easy, and it seems to get harder with great guys like Tim Brent. I won't comment any further on the situation, but we felt as an organization we needed to clear the air."

  4. ^awesome touch to the league, i like it.
  5. I really like that high profile players are taking on specific agents, that is awesome and good job guys! Will we see this trickle down to the role players and energy guys as well or do the 'support players' still use every agent, and the agents compare notes on offers like last year?
  6. I vote for just trillian info there so i can streamline my trill...i currently ahve two wallstreetamigo's lol and i will need to cut one out, i think i have several of you guys there twice. ;p "The More You Newb" ..i will figure out the internet one day..would you believe I am a technologist by trade? haha
  7. So does ACE have an Ace up his sleeve for tonight? OR Does TheMinister rise to Emperer status, by dethroning the Kings? (*insert batman trill flute noise and spinning batsignal here) Tune in at 5 for the answer to these riddles and more!
  8. If i knew that I would be having my picture taken at the Vancouver airport, hehe. I meant in generalities, a tough skilled player or two if you include Dmen on the ice with them, will need to be inserted with the twins in order to 'fix' what the common perception about our top line is. Sedin Sedin Toughie ToughiD QBD Either Goalie = success line We know Gillis wants Kassian to evolve into that skilled toughie, and while I am on board with shipping out Cody when the situation demanded it, I don't know that Kassian is the exact skilled toughie to go with them, but I am not against trying it, with Torts there to crack the whip on him, it could work very well. I dunno, as our friend from down under correctly said about opinions..i don't know mine are right but i have a feeling they are on track. Hypothetically if we go Sedins and Kes on the first line full time..Leaves Booth and Burrows on the 2nd i imagine and our golden 'acquisition' from selling a goaltender may have to be a 2nd line centerman. I hope Lappy signs on to play bottom six center again at a good rate, I like him a lot in that role, and I think he is okay with that role in his own mind as well. I guess i can speculate all day long, but I am of two minds on it: reunite Kes with Burr and have the twins on one line with Kassian and Kes Burr and Booth on another(*sub in whomever replaces booth in the event of a trade) Or stack the top line and rebuild under it. Sedins with Kes, Burr to the second, and then PP burr with the twins as you dont need grit on the PP. The only other thing i would consider that no one in their right mind would do is split the twins. Kassian (or other stalwart toughie winger) with Sedin and Burr Sedin Kesler Booth(*or other skilled winger) on line two I think Higgins and Hansen are a great set of wingers on the third regardless... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jt2CmdxFYI anyways, i am breaking down now into idle spec that does no one any good. I wouldn't mind seeing the twins play on separate lines, is my point, but clearly the prefered method will be to toughen up their line by adding a guy who can defend them, or send them for MMA lessens in the offseason. haha. The wait for a whistle and punish them on the ensueing PP theory doesn't work in the 3rd and 4th rounds, clearly.
  9. It is really a shame you missed, but luckily one draft year won't break a team, you have a few years to work up the difference.
  10. Totally with you on the first line about Torts and I would only disagree about playing the contract and not the player where they are best suited. If you get the most out of your lineup with a 5million dollar guy on the fourth line, then that is how you have to go, of course then the GM will have to figure out what to do with that, naturally, but you can't just play him there because he is expensive. I am sure you realize that, but he certainly works with them, and I like him, but I have never seen him drop the mits for them..maybe the odd time, but very rarely. I know Kes would not have put up with the ragdolling they took that one series.
  11. Hrm, did Lu start all of them? odd, i had it my mind that Schneider took over mid game and then started one...but don't get me wrong, i am not against schneids at all, he is very good and will be world class when he peaks..i am just not saying he is world class now, he is an NHL starter for sure. Admittedly i had to check on Rask, but aside from a similar age bracket the two are nothing alike in their career phasing. Tuuka had played in 45 games back in 2009-2010 and posted a 1.97gaa doing so. Also 108 total NHL games and 172 total NHL games is a large enough difference, its more than a full season of starter time separating them, maybe two seasons as a starter worth of starts difference...but i do get your point, I don't see how MG started what we are now calling a controversy, that was clearly initiated by the coaches decisions. But we can agree to disagree. On Torts, a happier topic, IMO the perceived weakness of our team gets a good correction in Torts as the bench boss. I didn't see AV on the boards screaming his face off about the ragdolling of the Sedins..you can bet your bottom dollar Torts would have been livid about it. I also think Torts will not stand for that by any means and will have line corrections to counter the 'euro' style of our perceived shortcomings. TRying Hansen with the Twins does not address that..but perhaps stacking Bieksa and Kesler with the twins would, not that I am endorsing that move..but for the sake of exaggeration.
  12. I agree with wanting the goalie saga over..but i don't think Cory is what we can call "world class" yet. He is destined for it, but we are still looking at a guy with less than 100 regular season NHL games under his belt, and that includes a year as the so called 'starter'. I think AV made a huge error when he started the 'controversy' and started a guy with 68 career nhl games in teh stanley cup finals, I am glad he got fired, and I only wish he was fired years earlier, before he could make errors like this for the team. Anyways, its old soup...not worth complaining about now. Just pour it down the drain and wash the bowl.
  13. I would keep Lu and write off the 'controversy' to AV..he is gone, and has big shoulders anyways..he grew it, he can chew it. Schneider for a top scoring prospect and keep lu.
  14. You all might laugh, but phoenix could open up and take all of the Luongo contract, the question is, would the nucks trade him inside the conference? (i would say yes if it meant moving him and getting a young guy back) and Would the NHL installed GM of Phoenix accept such a move for a long term commitment? (*I would say yes if he knows Mike SMith will balk at signing there due to instability) So my wildcard 'inside the conferrence' spot for LU is the franchise formerly known as Phoenix. And, what if Torts is a giant Luongo Fan?
  15. oh good idea, maybe in one of the posts further down along with a list of commish, executive committe and agents so its all there in one reference post?
  16. MSG NEWS 2013 Prospect Check-In Edition: 72nd overall 2012 Draft Pick, D Patrick Sieloff (42nd pick Flames, NHL) seems to be recovering well from a season ending groin injury with the the OHL's Windsor Spitfires. The WJC gold medalist had 3 goals, 8 assists and 85 penalty minutes through 45 games of his rookie OHL season before being sidelined with the nagging injury. Working with Rangers staff to develop a rehab plan, it was decided to forego the last of the Spitfires season and rehab early, primarily due to the team not being in contention for a playoff berth. Patrick is on track to rebound for his second OHL season next Fall. 59th overall 2012 Draft Pick, D Mikko Vainonen (118th pick Preds, NHL) made a smooth transition to North America in his first OHL season with the Kingston Frontenac's. The 6'2" 222lb Dman put up 4 goals and 18 assists in his first N.A. year and more importantly was a team leader in playoff points, with 2g 1a in 4 games played. Mikko's pro career maybe off to a fast start as New York's front office is moving to sign him to an ELC as early as next week. 37th overall that year, D Ville Pokka (34th pick Isles, NHL) spent the year playing in Finlands highest league, the SM-Liga for Karpat. in 47 games Ville scored 6 goals and 6 assists with just 8 penalty minutes and a plus 2 rating, all at the age of 18 playing against professional men. at the World Juniors last winter he put up 6 points in 6 games and was an astounding plus-10 with just one minor penalty all tournament. Capping off his development year in Finland was a 2 points in 3 games SM Liga playoff performance. Another year of seasoning overseas before some North American icetime and Ville may prove out to be the best Defensemen selected in his draft year according to several pro scouts. 62nd overall selection, 2012, G Joonas Korpisalo (62nd pick CBJ, NHL) may make his N.A. debut with the Prince George Cougars who selected him in the import draft, although rumours suggest he may backstop the famed Jokerit club of the SM-Liga in Finland as well. Lots of international play highlights the past season including five games at the WJC, however most of his games were with Jokerits under 20 club where he posted 2.67gaa and .914 save%. Joonas will continue to grow wherever he plays this coming year and we look forward to watching him in camp this fall. 48th overall selection D Nick Ebert (211th pick Kings, NHL)was brought in via trade recently and played alongside Patrick Sieloff with the OHL's Windsor Spitfires where he scored 38 points and 58 penalty minutes over 68 games. Finishing the year with 3 assists in three playoff games with the ECHL's Ontario Reign seems to have improved the outlook for Nick, "He's a smart player," Christie said after a recent game. "He's strong on pucks. He makes the right plays. He's a young kid, but you can see the talent in him." says Reign coach jason christie after Ron Hextall himself called up Ebert to join the Reign's playoff push. One to keep a close eye on. 71st overall in 2012, C Zach Stepan (112th pick Preds, NHL) had an incredible USHL year, which led us to trade for his rights as well in 2013. The Top junior hockey league in the USA saw Zach lead their league in Game Winning Goals at nine, while he was the third best in total points. 32goals and 46 assists were enough to have him named Player of the Week on four occasions and just this month earned him an invitation to the Team USA National Junior Eval Camp at Lake Placid. Zach is a long term prospect as he has committed to play university hockey in Minnesota this coming year. All in all, our 2012 draft class seems to be shaping up to be a CDCGML class act in the not too distant future, and all of these kids were chosen no earlier than 7 picks into the 2nd round, 2012.
  17. LMAO yes..yes it was.....quick look over there! runs away with breakfast bacon...
  18. I think you closed the gap another 5 or 6 points? around 77 to 40ish for the Isles...oddly enough, pundits are talking, and if this goes to game 7 it is by virtue of another ten goalie points to the Islanders, and 37 points is a lot to make up on one night with two players. Highlight shows are starting to play clips of your captain lifting the Clarence Campbell Bowl. tsk tsk. ugh, failed so hard here, as is pointed out below, yes i was directing this at LA.
  19. one nothing against the US, i can live with that!
