Thanks to Azzy and the Ottawa Senators organization for completing our first trade deal of my tenure. Thanks to Mark Giordano for being a part of the LA kings legacy. Welcome to Travis Hamonic, a big minute muncher on a more compact cap hit. In his ten games back from injury Travis has put up decent Puck League points and is a player I like to watch, year over year, currently on the club I enjoy watching pretty much every two days for decades, haha. Moving Gio out of the Division was helpful for the remainder of the season while opening up 2.5m in cap in the trade was the impetus for making it. In two moves thus far, I have opened up 4.3 million in cap space and will have to wait to confirm that we won't slip in the standings in the Honda West! Bozak and Getzlaf remain otb for the right deal, and it has to make sense for the Kings, who by all accounts are playoff bound and have some cap to swing with at the deadline. Lastly, many thanks to the executive for what seem to be swift updates around here, very nice. : )

Some routine business to kick off my General Managing of L.A. The club has had a Dman on IR all season long, without any players in the stable to replace him. Jacob Macdonald is a very sturdy professional blueliner, and I am happy to have made him our official "first recorded transaction". Welcome aboard, and I hope your work visa is up to date, we are calling you up!

Recall: The New York Rangers recall Scott Harrington. Been meaning to announce it since the 14th when I messaged the commish about it during the trade call. Fortunately, errr you know what i mean, he has not made a game in March off the taxi squad so nothing lost.

First off: CONGRATS again to Greensman! A very good choice to be the inaugural GM of the Rain City Bitch Pigeons. Second of all, I am glad you changed the name to the Seattle Kraken. Welcome Back to the GML, GM Greensman of the Seattle Kraken!!!

Upside was that theMinister managed to find my seat and came by to say hi. My obstinate buddy was being a jerk though and while I thought he was coming to the game with me, he was really 'putting up with hockey' in order to get to the RiverRock casino afterwords with me. It wasn't even half way through the second period and he wanted to leave the Rink. Funny, we aren't friends any more. Not connected really, but i guess at some level yeah. hahahaha.

The kings would like to send Mikko Salomaki through waivers to assign to the minor league affiliate. (presumably this is the way it is done)

I booked a game in Vancouver specifically to see the final Vancouver appearance of my favourite Duck of all time, and he was ill with a flu that night. They announced that he was sorry he wasn't able to play for us in Vancouver one last time before his retirement though, which was a nice sentiment from a superstar global hockey player, who just happened to be a Duck. His retirement year, his RETIREMENT YEAR he had 27 points in 64 games, only 12 penalty minutes and was +8. Half the league wishes they had just one peak season with those numbers. 1451 regular season NHL games and 1457 regular season NHL points spanning 21 NHL seasons. Wooooo! The Finnish Flash himself, Teemu!!!!!! Selanne!!!!!!! Helsinki's favourite son! Teemu! Teemu! Teemu! Teemu! Teemu! Teemu! Teemu! 113131111 Runner Up: Saku Koivu, 12113112 Fitting they were inducted together into the IIHF Hockey Hall of Fame. I can't wait to visit the Hall in 2022, I decided mid covid year that is one vacation destination I will be doing. Hahahaha, just checked the season by season results and literally since the two retired, the Ducks have progressively gotten worse in every season, lol. 13-14 was their best year of the last 7/8 years. Speaks Volumes.

that is better news!!! you had me, i fell for it. -
Nothing left to say but thank you to Jamie Benn for pushing us up the standings as best he could. I enjoyed having a Vancouver Islander in my ranks, and a superstar to boot!! Connor Murphy seems like the longest serving Ranger up to the point of his trade and he has been nothing but inspirational and productive for I want to say 7 years? 8? OH, found the note! Acquired with Sami Salo and a few others pieces from Vancouver all the way back on March 8th 2013! wow! In any event, Connor was the cost of doing business in moving out the cap that accompanied Jamie Benn. All in all we lost two great talents and gents in the room, but also managed to remove 13m in their cap hit before the summer UFA market. I want to welcome Nikita Zadorov to the Rangers and assign him directly to the big club where we will appreciate what he brings to the table. Olli Juolevi, we feel, is the player we want to work into our Defense and we expect to hold down the fort there for some time and possibly even unseat Murphy as the longest serving Ranger in GML history!! Thank you to Rush17 for a very good, somewhat long courtship of Juolevi and ultimately a tough bargain in allowing him to come over to Madison Square Garden! Thanks for posting and processing, Comish. ; )

Following days long consultations with coaching staff, Todd McLellan, Trent Yawney, Marco Sturm, and Bill Ranford, and armed with my marching orders from the ownership group, Phil Anschutz and Ed Roski, I can confirm as the new General Manager, well, not much will be happening for a week or two while we continue to assess our assets. OTB, for the right return at this time are Ryan Getzlaf, Tyler Bozak and Mark Giordano. I am not in any hurry to make changes, however these three pending UFA's may relish a shot with another club aiming to take them deeper than the Kings may go this year.

The I have Mixed Feelings about Jim Benning Chaosthread 3000
Primal Optimist replied to Me_'s topic in Canucks Talk
As a raw fan of the Vancouver Canucks, without even looking at the standings, just the lineup: I like about 19-20 of the guys in the main roster, scratches, IR and the taxi squad currently, and I like another 11 or so in the minors/unsigned prospects and reserve list guys. Since JB's been the man in the planning seat since May 23rd 2014, and since I like around 30 or 31 of the guys he has on the Canucks Depth Chart at this moment in time, I am prone to saying I like Jim Benning. There are many arguments to be made for why I am wrong though. In a nutshell: I want to wait for a few things to occur before deciding to replace the GM; ~LU's cap recapture to expire (3.035m this and next season) ~LU's cap to expire. Not that Lu, this Lu. The 6 million dollar fan. (as in he generates a lot of air off his whiffs) which I suspect will occurr this offseason via BUYOUT. ~Spooner's buyout expiring at the end of this season ~Baertschi's 2.3m expiring off the cap at the end of this season ~Pods to arrive in April or this summer, whichever happens. He is in the 2nd round of the KHL's Gagarin Cup who knows when they lose a series, or if they go all the way, but valuable experience for the young phenom. ~Covid restrictions on the clubs revenue generation to ease and lift and for home games to be fan filled games again. ~the Covid-Cap crunch to fade away and have some continuity in the million or so increases every year that the league and us fans were used to since the lockout. SO, I guess I am in the camp of 'don't fire him until either his contract expires naturally or the summer of 2022, whichever comes first. I just don't think he is the issue and his big regret (not a mistake as NO ONE knew EK was gonna throw his offense in the midden heap when he signed here.) will be done and gone soon enough. If things get supremely better by the end of next season, IMO< all our belly aching will have been for nothing. hehe. Not planning the parade route, but IMO our 'window' opens slightly next year and continues to open to a really big bay door to drive the floats out of for said parade in the years that follow next season. -

Sorry to see you go TM. Was looking forward to trying to pass you by years end! I am sure the welcome matt will be out if/when you have more time left over to whittle down to a small hand crafted playoff machine. ; ) -
I loved his stories about his dad in his act, hahahaha ha. STill laughing. Not like that two bit thug Aziz, rofl. Ansari walked right to me at the RiverRock in Van ( he was doing a show there that weekend) and says "hey big man, where is the buffet at in this place?" I was like "you just assumed I would know?" to which he poked my beer belly and was like "No one trusts a skinny chef". Okay he was funny too, lol. But damn brah. damn.

Danny is quietly having a great time with the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL. Putting up 12 points in 13 games since the lockdown lifted on AHL Hockey!! Real happy he decided to sign here. ; )

Yeah, glad to see it laid out like that, I feel I am punching above my weight, so to speak as a 7th in Div team.
