CDC Fantasy League 2020-21 (Apply Within!)
Primal Optimist replied to Nail's topic in Fantasy Hockey
This looks a little better than simply being at the bottom of the pickup hockey list, haha. One point shy of tying Montreal and then 81 shy of a playoff spot. Better than it could be i guess. -
Waivers: The New York Rangers waive Derrick Pouliot to send him back to the Lake Cowichan Lakers. Activation: The New York Rangers activates Kyle Okposso from the IR list.

The New York Rangers assign Dmytro Timashov to the Lake Cowichan Lakers, and we welcome Justin Bailey to the club. Looking forward to having you here. I think most folks have a wish list of players they would love to have as they are fans of them in real life. This is a rare time I got to claim a player I am also a Fan of. Thank you!

We hate to see Justin go, this was not the plan, however the stagnant cap strikes again and we needed to free up some space to get our young guys in the show. Very happy to gain Evan Rodrigues from teh deal, and looking forward to getting him settled into the room. Andre Sekera, we are lucky to get back as well in the trade, Andre is a legend on the ice and now in our room. Looking forward to seeing what he can teach the boys. Thank you to Bomber for a good negotiation too. Much appreciated. -
Pending IR placement request RECALL: The New York Rangers recall Louis Domingue to fill in for an IR placement.

Today the Vancouver Canucks welcome fully 1 6th of our squad to the season. These roster moves were intended to safely get two depth NHLers into our minors system while giving the infamous Loui one last shot to put up some points before he fades into minors obscurity. Focusing on the positives, I feel we are about 100 points behind where we would like to be, and with Robertson, Guryanov and Klingberg coming on board today, with support from Justin Dowling, we are confident we can stop the slide at least. Then we have a long season ahead to replace those missing hundred points. Stranger things have happened! Full scale charge to the playoffs begins today! -
at this level, every single person shows up playing 100%, they are individually fighting for the next contract or to stay in the NHL at all, or to try to keep their own jobs right now, or to take someones job if they are filling in. So when every single one of the 40 players on those two benches is giving 100%, then it becomes really obvious when say, one team has 4 Dmen who average 23 years of age. It is what it is. A learning experience.

I am pretty sure that when LE has just one year left at 6m that is when he will be bought out, I think that would put 2m on the cap hit in each of 21-22 and 22-23 rather than 6m on the cap in 21-22. Using your math that gives us 23.5 next year in freed up cap space and the following year 24.5 in freed up cap space. And as you point out, that leaves us the awesome kids and prospects with some older inexpensive vets. This offseason is going to be huge.

I disagree with your premise. Bailey, (whom I like but isn't in the linup), Boeser, Ferland, Hoglander, Horvat, Miller, Motte, Pettersson, Sutter, Virtanen, Benn, Edler (even though I don't personally like him), Hughes, Joulevi, Myers, Schmidt, Holtby THat is 16 players that are arguably together, above mediocre by a fair margin. If i go look at the minors i could find another handful to round out a team. Demko is good too, but listing him as good with this particular game is a losing argument, haha... So yeah, we are 2 and 3 to start the season, looks likely to be 2 and 4, but stranger things have happened in the third, right? No waiving the towel just yet. I honestly believe folks who are freaking out right now will be in stunned awe in the 22-23 season. It takes games like this in every players history to build the guts to get to game 7, SCF, 2011. ; )

cap friendly lists the canucks roster salary at 68 million and change. What do you want JB to do when they announce a stagnant cap ceiling and your money is already committed? FOlks really need to breathe and understand that much like he Luongo deal coming back AFTER a new CBA to bite us, this one is just as bad but just as not our fault, Canucks, I mean. When you have spent all the money you had because you think there is more money coming and then it doesn't show up: meh. Can we blame a 6 million dollar no show like Erikkson? YES Can we blame the Commish for allowing a perfectly legal contract that the league allowed to be signed, to somehow hurt us way later after a new CBA is signed? YES should we fire the coach or the GM after the first week of the COVID season? NO.
