  1. We are one game below 500 just 9 days into the weird COvid season. relax till mid next year.
  2. Having a bad night for sure. I still think the Nucks are in this one. Down by one with all that fire power? Still half a game to go and if they turn it on in the thurd, as Burr would say, den we has da wins.
  3. The good news is these kids are so young, when they meet Montreal again later in the season or the playoffs, Montreals game plan will be woefully out of date.

  7. He has been responsible, which is what you want from a rookie Dman. No points and a plus 1 so far.   8. The one drawback I thought of to the question of "Why didn't we do 3 or 4 game mini series in the regular season before COVID protocol?" was literally this scenario. YOu can beat up one or two guys in game one and enjoy not having them in the lineup in games 2 thru 4. I don't think any of our injuries are on purpose from the Canadiens but the concept on paper looks like it could pay off for money hungry playoff hopeful clubs.

  12. I am hopeful that this is the train that isn't gonna be late in very many games from now on. Gone are the days of AV saying publicly "More than a 1 goal lead is a waste". I am glad he is gone from behind our bench. He sort of kind of wasted a boat load of talent shot blocking our way to zero cups.

  15. I will likely agree with you after he has had maybe 20 NHL games worth of experience, more or less. I don't disagree now, but lets see what the new broom does for clean sweeping once its bristles are worn in.

  17. I do think he deserves another contract, I voted 4 or less, but I think 3 is the magic number. You can fire him any time, but lets assume you don't in the first year of a renewal, then if your going to fire him its either with one season left or no seasons left. Shrug. I like 3 too. Seems the best option and fit. The coach is Aquilini's problem though, as a fan all i care about is the cap and we are about to free up Lou money, then Loui money and the covid flat cap will go up in each year from here on out too: canucks are young and about to have a great 3 or 4 years cap wise. IMO for that reason I keep the GM and for the thrill of the games I have watched under Coach Green, I would love to see him stay on too. Where the club is in the 23-24 season will be a big focus for me as a long term fan. If they aren't competing for the cup a few times up to and including that year, I may get worried. All signs point to awesome though. THis covid season is a scrub no matter what, but I do hope we make the post season. If we don't I like that we can draft a young gun to come in earlier than usual with a good pick. This is the year to expect to be entertained. THe coming three years after this are the years to expect to be blown away.

  19. I just got here late to the thread, but I would like to champion a really good club we have this year and suggest that in the great north, we have a lot of hosers playing hockey eh bud. I would think that almost every club 'could' make the playoffs with the one off divisions that see all the Canadian teams play each other. Take aways I like: 9 goals in three games, but blanked in one. It is literally just one week, the opening week of the season. We usually would give them 10, 15 or 20 games before analyzing the set of games. Covid shortened season ratios say we should then give them 7, 10 or 14 games to make the same analysis. 1w 3l with a minimum three games to go before I will even start to worry. The club is one of the best built versions of our team since I became an ensconced and alert fan around 1979/80..I like the Naslund Era a little better thus far, but I think this club is deeper than we ever were back then. I like 22 players, just counted from teh roster page on CDC, out of the 27 players listed there, includes taxi squad i guess. I think at the 14 or 15 game mark we will be having a much different conversation, however, note that Pod is coming in April and IF we don't get into the post season, there will be a high draft pick coming in the offseason. I am not worried. Even if we miss the playoffs during covid season, we will be that much better next year for the experience and the reinforcements. WOuld be nice to draft Atu Raty, right, and come back next year with 24 players that are really worth getting to like and know, at that point we will be a contender, even I take off my rose coloured glasses! Cheers guys, I hope to be much more active in Canucks Talk this year, its been a long while that I have been sidelined over in Fantasy Hockey, out of choice, but with 2011 so far back in the rearview now, it is time to get back to basics and be Primaly Optimistic about this club! lol

  21. I am pretty sure, 99%, from NHL.com that the first stars game is against the preds on Jan 22nd. I have a lot of stars in another leaugue and making my moves to bring them up tomorrow or the next day to be ready to roll for that opening game.
