[Signing] Canucks re-sign Noah Juulsen

I'd agree with that - even if it does paint a sad but unfortunately realistic situation this club is in cap-wise. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Noah Juulsen

You like arguably the best defenceman this franchise has ever had playing with a fringe NHL'er? -
Nobody, especially the NHL wants to admit this, but it's true. I could see it, as you mentioned, boosting the fee for the next expansion team astronomically and the owners would be well aware of that fact. If a small market Canadian team like Edmonton wins, it's great for hockey but it's probably the worst-case scenario for the NHL from a purely 'business' side.

I be willing to swap #11 and Boeser to whomever ahead of us is interested if Michkov was available.

Typically, if you need to 'convince' people - one way or another - it means you've done something previously to make them think otherwise - you don't come back easily from breaking trust like that with the general public, that's why they need to go to these lengths.

[Report] Flames fire head coach Darryl Sutter
PlanB replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
This article confirms EXACTLY what you're saying @Fanuck : https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/valji-darryl-sutter-out-as-calgary-flames-head-coach-1.1954855 The scary thing is that it's clear Maloney has conceded to the pressure, and is letting the inmates run the asylum. Once the players/agents are running the show, as it seems is the case in CGY - you likely never come back from that - the next GM/Coach are simply going to be puppets to the players/agents - the precedent in CGY has now been established - you do what the entitled stars and their agents want or you'll be shown the door, regardless of your pedigree. It kind of surprises me how little of a backbone Maloney has to simply admit publicly that the players/agents ran a 2x Stanley Cup winning coach out of essentially his own home town. I for one can't wait for the S*$T show to keep unraveling there for some time..... -
[Report] Jake Muzzin out for the season and playoffs

I stand by the opinion that they should've gone all-in on Chychrun. Nylander would've been the main piece before his M-NTC kicks in next year. -
I understand why one would say this, but I fully believe this can be dealt with through education and law/policy. It won't happen overnight, but to not persistently try to educate those who would potentially participate in this kind of behaviour is unacceptable to me - you don't give up on one of the most vulnerable groups in society (children) simply because it seems like the problem is insurmountable. You try, and you keep trying until everyone accepts that this is unacceptable.

The 'disruptor' in me really, really wants to see this happen..... -
How anyone is supposed to understand the direction this team is headed after all of these glaring contradictions is beyond me?

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

All I want to know is what package would it take to get Jiricek without including Petey/Huggy/Demko? Any reasonable package not including those three we should be giving it to them if he's available. -

For clarification, do you consider Hogs a Power Forward? -
[PGT] Washington Capitals at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 29, 2022
PlanB replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
As someone who works in education (you, not me to be clear) - I'm surprised that you believe the government actually gives a #$%! about people. And no, I'm not taking a pi$$ - as everyone I know who works in education and health care (and it's about 10 very close friends of mine) wouldn't agree with you. The amount of homeless and opiate related deaths occurring on a regular basis would support the notion that they don't really care to do anything meaningful about these serious issues. -
[PGT] Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 21, 2022
PlanB replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Exactly - JR's tried his 'sabre rattling' in the media and NOTHING changed on the ice. Whatever JR was intimating was going to happen to the roster in his last media session - then it needs to happen sooner rather than later. If he can't get it done, then he never should have made those comments publicly, otherwise it undermines his management position and players/fans won't take anything he says seriously. -
[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Boston Bruins | Nov. 13, 2022
PlanB replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Surely if they could've make moves to enact a 'quick turnaround' they would've by now. Either ownership or the current NHL cap-strapped market is preventing anything from happening quickly - because if it's not one of these aforementioned causes then it lies directly on JR/Allvin and that would mean they aren't as smart as they come off. -
[Waivers] Ben Harpur, Christopher Gibson
PlanB replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yup - they just announced that Stillman is IR and Dermott on LTIR. A guy like Harpur would be pretty useful at this point I'm guessing - if nothing else then just for a stop-gap. -
This is why teams have 'internal' cap limits - otherwise it's just whip-sawing back and forth and it spirals pretty quickly.
-
This qualifies as an 'emergency' callup situation. Jack has quietly had a great season - this is recognition of that. This has nothing whatsoever to do with 'rushing our youth' - that's a false narrative that doesn't apply here.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
PlanB replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Look no further than Miller himself - cap aside - he would never have gotten the chance to thrive in TB like he did in Van. Now he's a potential Hart Trophy Candidate. Sometimes players need room to grow which won't happen if they're 'pigeon-holed' into set spots in the line-up because the 'better spots' are already filled. I suspect Hog/Pod/Garland/Motte are all capable of a bit more if given more opportunity but they're behind other guys right now so they'll probably just level out at their current spots somewhat until they got more looks.
