Can one bad contract ruin a whole roaster?
The Colt 45s replied to LeafsFanDan's topic in General Hockey Discussion
A whole roaster or a whole roster? Some roasted chicken sounds great tonight. Hopefully I do not have to share with the whole team. -
(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block
The Colt 45s replied to Wayne Glensky's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Keeping Jake is not worth tanking for. He had to play better, but he won't. That was the rub. -
I have two jobs. I am a hospital chaplain at a non-profit hospital and a specialist for a state run youth prison. At the hospital, I recieved my first Pfizer shot ten days ago and have eleven days to go for the second. My job at the state is unionized. Despite having COVID outbreaks in our region, my colleagues have yet to receive their COVID shots. Everyone wants to move on from COVID. We all have served prison time this year. Granted staying at home has helped us to save money.

Evander Kane files for Bankruptcy

Short answer is yes. Each team has a supply of professionals available that help players manage money. -
Evander Kane files for Bankruptcy
The Colt 45s replied to Chronic.Canuck's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Add in there the 5% his agent makes each year and that number adds up. But, his Chapter 7 case may get thrown out and he will be forced into a Chapter 11. Why? He makes too much money to qualify for a Chapter 7 and family members that he cares are not legal dependents. https://upsolve.org/ca/means-test/ -
[Discussion] NHL Sells Naming Right to Divisions
The Colt 45s replied to BoKnows's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Getting my Pfizer vaccine next Wednesday. I am a hospital chaplain and I think it is pretty awesome how the government down here works. -
Having the bling is nice. Sends a message. I gave my wife on our wedding day a set that was made in the 1940s. It looked amazing. But for her, she has a lot of pride in my gift to her. We have been married 22 years and sincerely love each other. And that ring on her finger is a symbol of that love.

NHL season to start Jan. 13 with 56-game season
The Colt 45s replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Great news. No longer singing the blues. -
I am surprised that no one has suggested to line him up against Kassian, Lucic, and Tkachuk every game and hope for some wonderful magic.

NHL season to start Jan. 13 with 56-game season
The Colt 45s replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I think they could relocate all of the Canadian NHL teams in America, have them play in the same time zone, and in NHL sized arenas, and can hold up to 17,000 fans with favourable COVID laws in place: Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Houston, San Antonio, Milwaukee, New Orleans and Madison. -
[Speculation] Canucks clearing Cap for Hamonic
The Colt 45s replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For the kind of money he wants to be signed for we could sign Chara as he is a defensive defenceman who is unsigned. Granted he plays the left side. However, a safer approach may be Madison Bowey who has better numbers and is four years younger -

The Colt 45s replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Do we want a guy who has tallied a total of 31 points, averaged 106 shots, with a 3.3% shooting percentage of plus three over the last three years on this team, and has been paid an average of 3.9-million? Could we get those stats from any rookie and save almost $3-million? This seriously should not be a discussion. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Tyler Graovac

Brent Seabrook says he is not done
The Colt 45s replied to grandmaster's topic in General Hockey Discussion
I am 45 and played soccer and hockey into college. While I am active, I feel it everyday and realize I am not as young as I once was. Whether it is the arthritis in my joints, the damage that caused me to have two ankle surgery, to having the shoulders of an 82-year old, I feel it. But I have a lot of respect for these older players. It is not as easy as it seems and you can only take so much toradol. -
Brent Seabrook says he is not done
The Colt 45s replied to grandmaster's topic in General Hockey Discussion
It would be a great story. For us, what would have it looked like if the Sedins were still playing? Granted they are five years older than Seabrook but they were in tremendous shape and were still very productive. -
This is a great post. Some people would rather listen to Google than listen to actual professionals with advanced degrees and are considered subject matter experts. Along my path I earned two master's degree, one doctorate, and now I am completing a second doctorate. I might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but I gave up eating crayons in Kindergarten.

[Signing] Oscar Fantenberg signs in the KHL
The Colt 45s replied to DeltaSwede's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Do you think that the level of taxation in British Columbia and Canada in general is a problem? What about the cost of the real estate and/or the rental market especially downtown? I agree with you that the KHL becomes an attractive solution for fringe players. But being paid little should be an awesome incentive to work harder and earn more money. That is what happened for Burrows. Of the practices I saw, he was the first on and the last off and actually earned his contracts. He even agreed to take less so he could have a chance to win the Stanley Cup.
