I thought Leivo was done for the season edit nope, you were right, its been a long 2-3 months

we probably would have won 3 cups by now if only Thomas, Chara, Marchand, Messier, Leetch, Richter, Bossy, Trottier, Tonneli, Gillies, Potvin, Persson, Goring and Smith hadn't played against us. if only...

I saw the split second look as he stands after his name is called, its not a great look, but it lasted less than a second and you are extrapolating his hatred (is that too harsh a term) for Vancouver from it. People post bad pics on the internet all the time of there significant others that look just a s poor.Cameras can be harsh. But it you take away Beth and Andrey, the only thing said about McCann in Vancouver come from Daniel and it was veiled (not named) and about both he and Jake. To me it just said the Sedins are salty and old and cannot relate to young players. As I mentioned it was shortly after the team was showing them off as Beibs buds, whhich I always thought was foolish media. For all the good the Sedins did for Vancouver, they struggled to find a complimentary winger, Daniel didn't like playing with Kassian either. I'd better not go down that road though. THere are some teams and GMs that being traded from cannot be looked at a a black mark against the player, Florida is one of them, NYI, Ottawa, (both gave up on Chara) Arizona and Edmonton are others. Fla also fired Gallant and booted Talon upstairs and back down again. I think they got about 43 games out of the 2 players the received for McCann and Bjugstad. That is ijust a poor trade. But I agree with Surfer, the McCann trade out of Vancouver was an exchange of assets. I support GMs making trades that are an exchange of assets. It seems since Gillis was here that fans always want to "WIN" every trade, that they must include some wash up leaving Vancouver and should bring back a star we can gloat over for the next decade. I like Talon but he is prone to mistakes, Bjugs and McCann have almost as many goals in Pittsburg as Sheehan and Brassard played games for Fla. Not Dales finest hour. Anyhow,if you have any morre stories about how bad a guy mcCann is, I might change my mind, but at this point i would take him back at a fair price. Not Brock Boeser and a 1st and not Loui Ericksson, Sven and Sutter

do you really think that is the way business on done?

Its funny, this tem that seemed short of quality scouting for so many years, now has a scout as GM and a scout as assistant GM and a scout as assitant GM - in - waiting, but no President or any one with the desire to fill that role. Absolutely, the Flyers took Nolan Patrick who has missed the whole season with Migraines, and they have a player with Cancer, the Canucks took Hodgson and he ended up with a rare disease that probably not one NHL team tests for. Then there is also bad developement, it must be rough to draft a guy then watch him flounder under poor developement, but you are only a scout. edit, that was meant to be 2 separate posts, the top part was not meant for you Sid, it was a response to DeNiro and the Benning/Wiesbrod/Brackett/ Gear comment

I don't see this as a guy who is unhappy to be here. I think there is maybe more than just "driven" and "attitude", there is also "lazy" and "complacent" I agree that I would not want Duchene on my team, I think of his ilk as "complacent" Kyle Turris falls into that catagory as well. Weren't they traded for each other at one time? Here is, "it is what it is" does not set off alarms for me, He made a few slip ups with word choices, I would attribute to excitement have we ever heard flack from Sid or Geno? that would go a long way to my thinking he has a bad attitude here is an article that sounds pretty good for McCann with all the talk about "media suck" this one is pretty positive with a kind of funny but true poke at Canuck fans https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-draft-pick-mccann-thriving-penguins

I realize that Chabot and Chychrun is shooting high, but it is because they are on teams that make bad trades that I thought it worth a flyer. Not all GMs learn their lesson. In your response to Agent above you talk about patience, Trading Brock for a younger defenceman is a "patient" move. Are you grading the other d I mentioned on anything other than NHL stats? I look on HockeyDB, so I do not have first hand knowledge or an inside scoop. What are you using? If we go back to Sergachev and Jones, Jones had 2.5 years in the league, Johannson 4.5 years Serg had 4 games and Drouin had parts of 3 years including a 53 point season. THose are moves that are working out for the patient teams. I also think Montreal was hoping for the |"Beliveau effect" hoping that they were trading for the next Vinny Lecavlier by bringing the French guy home. I hear that sentiment on this board often, last year we brought in Myers and Benn hoping home cooking would produce more than what we paid for. many fans are tired of both. Was it you that suggested Myers is a compiance buyout candidate? Round about 2011-12 Mike Gillis floated the idea of the "Boston Model" and everyone including Gillis meant "Big, mean, bully your way to the cup" But actually the Boston Model is the same model Sam Pollock used in the late 60s and 70s to win 9 cups in 13 years. Maybe Zboril isn't the answer, but Boston did pretty good with Seguin, Hamilton, Debrusk + Carlo (in one draft) and Kessel, Lucic + Marchand (in one draft) Pastrenak, Donato, Hienen + Bjork (one draft),the funny thing about those last 7, one is the draft before Benning arrived and the other is the draft after he left. Traded for the pick that picked Ray Borque But the point is, they trade guys early and often and often for 1st round picks , not all who turn out, but enough do to keep them at or near the top of the league By contrast the Vancouver model is to fall in love with every player (not names Jarod McCann) and wait and wait for him to become the star we think we drafted
-
remember when the Canucks/Sportsnet did an ingame segment on Jake + Jarod hanging with Biebs? Then a month later Daniel couldn't play with either of them cuz they were lazy kids. That was quality Canuck team building at its best right there

I totally agree not sure about all those names, but anyway, I agree with the sentiment. The hate for McCann is hilarious around here, Why because Beth Bartkowski and Andrey Pedan didn't like him? In they eyes of the believers McCann is a bum, has never, will never... because he is of low character because Beth Bartkowski and Andrey Pedan say so. I soooo want Jim to build a team that Beth Bartkowski aproves of!!! Yup, would never want 10 cent Kane or Pouty Doughty or rat Boy on our team of good character guys, never mind they have 6 rings between them

I agree with everything except the bolded. Middle 6 IS top 6. Top 6 is line 1 and 2 middle six is line 2 and 3. Line 2 is in the top 6 and middle 6. if Pearson and Virtanen are second line guys, they are top 6 and middle 6

I imagine by now you have realized that I don't value Brock as highly as some on this board. Its not that I don't like him, I think he is a nice guy, and he is going through a troublesome time, but many on here see him as the steal of the 2015 draft, while I see him as a mid-first playing at about his draft position. I'd take that Risto deal, but we would probably have to add, maybe Loui Ericksson or Raymond, Ballard and a 2nd. I remember someone suggesting Parayko for Hutton just over a year ago, too bad that deal didn't go, probably would have had to add Loui and Raymond for that one. But I digress, I look at Brock fetching a D-man of similar age and draft position,so I am looking at Zakub Zboril or Jacob Larsson, Gabe Carlsson or maybe on a good day Tom Chabot. Some of those deals we might get the add. Now in honesty I have not seen any except Chabot play and don't know if they have dropped significantly, but that is the return I think is realistic. Maybe Chychrun would be a home run. With Quinn on the team, and Rathbone possibly our next prospect, I am only looking at large and hopefully physical defensemen.

Dennis Ververgaert, I spelled his name wrong, its ae. former Canuck first rounder. I get the feeling that you think I am saying ALL players peak by 25, but Joel ward just retired and he did not play a full season until he was 27, he peaked at 33. there are anomalies like Howe and Chara and there are guys who peak in junior like most Canuck draft picks (historically, J/K)including Shinkaruk. But I feel what you are saying is that all players have a symetrical growth curve that peaks at 27-28 which is equally wrong. Back to Brock, he has sustained wrist and back injuries that appear from where I am sitting, (I am not a doctor or close to the team) to have limited his ability maybe he has healed with all this time off, we can hope that is the case, but I would not bet on it. Personally I think I differ from many fans because I do not fall in love with all the players and expect them all to grow to greatness. I think Petey and Quinn will, I hope Bo and Virtanen will and I feel nothing for the likes of Pods and Hogs until they come over and perform in the NHL. But that is just me. 2 things about Brock I remember the game when Brock got hurt and immediately thought that his career might be over, so good for him to make a career after that injury. But I also remember an interview with Doug McLean about interviewing Phil Kessel at the combine, Doug said," I just didn't get the feeling that I NEEDED him" I have always had that feeling for Brock. Kessel puts up numbers when he is surrounded by the likes of Sid and Geno, but didn't take Toronto or Arizona where they wanted to go. Bure made the 1st round of the playoffs once after he left Vancouver. He was +35 at 22 and had 31 playoff points and knocked out Shane Churla at 23. He never get near those feats again. When I look at players I want on this team, I want players like Justin Williams or Claude Lemeiux, not Phil Kessel. I understand the Kessel comparison is my own personal bias. I think JT Miller is the closest thing to Justin Williams on our current roster, but I also see that drive in Pettersson and hope that continues in him past his 23rd and 25th birthdays.

I agree Larsson is the worst d of that bunch, but Hall has had one great year and only made the playoffs that one year. Edmonton made the second round with Larsson and he wassecond in +/- behind McD that year Edmonton is in a playoff spot now and NJ is rebuilding and firing coaches and managers I would trade Larsson for Brock in a heatbeat

is that 4 unrelated comments? yes, a lot of players suffer injuries. does it affect their productivity? Skating? Shot? yes, Sutter is older than Boeser. he is also older than Tanev, Roussell, Ferland and Motte and he has played at least 200 more games than all of them. Loui Ericksson was productive until he played as many games as Sutter has played. yes, Boeser started his career here yes, Boeser will be here a while, but what is a while? and what make it definitive? It is 12:34 AM, it will definitely be dark for a while
-
um Gretzky peaked at 25, won his last cup at 27. why would another GM givetop dollar for a guy who has peaked? but since you don't like the names I am throwing out there, riddle me this, how many players can you name that have sustained 12 + game injuries in each of their first 3 seasons and have gone on to long productive careers? I named 10, can you?
-
Jonathan Drouin or Mikail Sergachev Ryan Johansen or Seth Jones who would you rather?
-
why would you give a 6-7 D 12-13 winger an NTC?
-
Blight Ververgeart Hodgson Faloon Bure Linden had 1 season over 70 pts after 23 Setoguchi Samsonov L Schenn Phaneuf A lot of guys actually peak at 25, so what does that mean for Boeser if he has 2 years then starts to decline?
-
maybe yes, maybe no you are assuming that he recovers fully from every injury Look at Sutter, pretty much an iron man and second line center caught behind two first liners in Pittsburg, until he got to Vancouver, got injured and coasted down hill
-
How do you ever know when a guy reaches his peak? Some players play til they are 42 and others slow down at 22. Brock has decreased his ppg from .88 to .78 while Travis Konecny (the player drafted 1 spot after Brock) has increased his to .91 and lead the Flyers in scoring Konecny has an 81 and 82 game season under his belt while Brock has injury problems. If Brock scores 82 points in 82 games next year, do you trade him while he is hot or hope that is a sign his injury troubles are behind him?
-
what is it you guys see in Lind's game that lets you put such lofty aspirations on him? I look at the guys drafted near him and see that his stats are similar 13/20 guys drafted in the early 2nd round have played NHL games ( not that I am condoning early NHL games, I think that harmed Virtanen) Compared to his 2017 draft co-horts Linds numbers are average So what is it you see that makes him deserve to be compared to Kesler or Linden?
-
I like your draft lottery they should use that method in future if they insist on keeping the lottery, which I disagree with but I don't see them changing

So I logged into the Aklands Grainger website today because my Speedaire compressor blew a gasket. the Compressor is 26 years old and finding a gasket is difficult. The Aklands Grainer website, (once logged in) has a drtop down box to assist in finding tools etc. when I clicked on the search box there was a single drop down, "Gudbranson for captain" Who knew after all this time that Aklands Grainger would be pushing for ol Guber to be captain? I wonder if people in Anaheim get the same massage? Gudbranson For Captain
