  1. ya your name calling shows you in a great light
  2. compassion is good. I did not mean my comment to be mean. Anyone harbouring that level of anger at what now must be between 35-50 years of age has larger problems than me calling him out on a message board. unresolved anger is bad, and can lead to a failed marriage and broken children. Think I don't know? I know. that poster needs help, and I mean that earnestly, not "nana poopoo your crazy' kind of you need help, but real help meant to resolve anger issues. It is out there. I received some 'bad help' shortly after my father's death, and it made things worse. That Dr still lives in our city and runs for office on a Christian/anti-abortion ticket. I could harbour lots of ill will to him and his ilk, but what is the gain for me? I could blame Psychiatrists or Christians or Pro-lifers or the Jubilee Hospital, but where would it get me? I'll be honest, I have spent time blaming Psychiatrists/Christians/Pro-Lifers, but never the hospital that I believe did their best. And time changes as does medical technology. They can do things now that they couldn't 25 or 49 years ago. This is the Colby Cave thread, about a person who lost their battle even with big city quality care, so you are correct it is not the place to be debating small town Drs Things changed for me with the death of my younger brother. Perspectives changed on anger and death. And a choice was made about how to deal with those around me, about those still living. I sincerely hope that this poster can choose to make changes without the significant losses that spurred my changes. Maybe the symtoms of the Colby Cave case were a trigger. Those who have had loss at a young age can be triggered and taken back to a difficult time. It happens when we least expect it. I can certainly have compassion for that. No hard fellings Canuktravella
  3. but we win a lot of faceoffs
  4. while I don't see this season finishing I am just making a schedule for the personal distraction I doubt that the NHL can arbitrarily add a year to contracts that run out this June30
  5. I am not sure you could make it even 36-37 , 37-36 but I might try just for the fun of it. I think if it came down to 38-35 we'd be lucky. if you look close enough I did actually make a schedule that could take place over a certain time period. no team playing in 2 cities on the same day. But i did not look at home and away. That would be the next step. Like any repair job, you can only start with what you have, If one team has already played 38 games home or away you will never get to 37-37. but I have not checked. I'll have another look and see if I can get to evry team play either 36or37 at home. I did notice that Vegas would have to play in Edmonton twice and they would come out Vegas 37 home and Edmonton 36 at home. at a glance no team has played more than 37 games home or away. just looking at an easy one Boston has played 35-35 and Detroit has played 37-34. I think you do the best you can and use road wins as a tie breaker
  6. you got 7 extra years and not a shred of gratitude. but that's OK, call me ass hat
  7. But what happened to Fanta? did not make the team out of camp and sat until Dec 1 first 2 weeks +7 then some middling play , falls to -3 Last 2 weeks -7 remember wondering how Green had him sitting when he was clearly (not clearly) better than Benn But after 36 games Benn looks like the better D-man not great, just better than Fanta Did Fanta get tired or did the system make him bad?
  8. I don't understand your anger. You said he had an aortic blot clot burst 7 years earlier and then say it sucked. What difference does cause of death on the certificate make when he had 7 extra years? 'Garbage small town doctors' you say? How about Drs with inferior equipment? You seem to ask for a lot.
  9. no argument there. Hairy suggested a one way contract to pay Rathbone NHL $ even if he played in the AHL I think that is a can of worms and a road we have already traveled with poor results
  10. then I guess this argument is over but on principle I think giving favours to players with no NHL experience is setting ourselves up for future pain and embarrassment In the long run it seems the Canucks have only castrated themselves with clauses whether its was Kesler, the entire D core, Hansen, Higgins, Luongo, Ericksson, (some of these have the double wammy of too much $ to trade irregardless of clauses. I will say that Jim did better last offseason with clauses and mostly shorter contracts now is not the time to go back to bad contracts
  11. if ECLs are never one way, how can we offer Rathbone a one way like Hairy suggested?
  12. So are you going to offer Podz and Hog a 1 way as well? they are both higher draft picks than rathbone
  13. why would you want to set that precedent? they guarenteed Tryamkin NHL time without AHL time, how'd that work out for us?
  14. that may be true, but this board is keeping cooped up hockey fans from doing useful things with our time or murdering our families woot jk there are no family members within daggar shot of this fan at this time

  16. now that I have moved Arizona to a different group, the possible playoff group west, I must make changes to the Chicago/Montreal/Jersey/Buffalo group. Chicago (3) Buff/Buff /NJ Montreal(2) NJ/Buff (no change) Buffalo (4) Chi/Chi/NJ/Mont NJ (4) Colorado/Chi/Mont Buff Colo (3) NJersey/Stl/Stl
  17. over in the NHL Plan for the Season thread I made a 73 game schedule Its a new draft that pits the teams that are in races against each other All teams play at least 2 games and some play 5 the NHL is never completely fair anyway, but this is pretty close have a look and tell me what you think that is in Around the NHL
  18. have you seen any NASCAR, lately? it is virtually the same as the real thing I'd never knowthe difference froma real parade now the virtual riot on the ohter hand that might be a bit tougher to pull off
  19. one game semi final between StL and Colorado In Colorado because they hold the tie breakers then on to the final between Boston and the winner of Stl/Colo season over in 2 weeks from when they re-start
  20. true, but the NHL is a grudge hodling league I think they were sorry that Gordie Howe was in the hall of fame before he moved to the WHA, I 'm not sure if Bobby Hull ever got in. The current Canucks would do well in the WHA, lots of fire power, no D. I don't even think they had a trophy for best D-man, haha the WHA broke the NHL owners stranglehold on player salary and rights, and will never be forgiven for that that is why Gretzky did not win the Calder trophy
  21. yes, Vancouver was a backwater in the NHL in those days, Birmingham, Baltimore and Cincinnatti were more desirable destinations than Vancouver. 5th round in 79 we drafted Dirk Graham, but did not sign him either. Like I said, 79 was not the worst draft we ever had, but missed good players in every round
  22. Marc Tardif was a 500 goal scorer and 1000point guy, lead the WHA in career goals. But 2/3 of points and goals came in the WHA, so the NHL has forgotten him But if you are in Quebec city you can still buy a car from his dealership
  23. It is sad, but not really surprizing. NHL players like anyone else can fall victim to mental health issues. Joe Murphy seems like a bi-polar case. I know he is listed in the concussion case against the NHL, and maybe that is the root of his problems. But to me, without really knowing him, he seems like a guy that this may have happened to even if he never played hockey. His career was very up and down, 3 ppg as an 18 year old, then trouble adjusting to the NHL, then he did well for a while, then conspiracy stuff later in his career. He is certainly a guy that the NHL should have helped out more at the time, but you can't always look at the past through the current lense. He seemed to alienate himself before he left the NHL. I know nothing abouthis injury history, but I would bet 60/40 mental illness over concussion. But it very well could be both. None the less, still sad on a human level
