  1. well Spur if you are not here for the hypothetical, then you will have to defend all those great trades Jim made
  2. The Age Gap is one of many "catch phrases" that get over used by the party faithful in an effort to sound like they are in the know and at one with management. It follows, "moving goal posts" - Gillis, "team toughness" - Nonis, "drive him to the airport" - Burke The "age gap" runs concurrently with "veteran leadership" - Benning Benning was also "handcuffed by Kesler" and as a result he is excused from any mistakes, real or imagined. The use of these catch phrases affords the use a higher moral or intelectual authority because they "get it", they "understand" what management is accomplishing, while shmoes like you and me wander around in a fog of unknowing.
  3. and yet he was taking a run at the Cup for the Sedins do you see the problem there?
  4. Oh, I never wanted to sign Gagner or Eriksson, I didn't want Spooner or Pearson either. They are all "wash-ups" as far as I am concerned.
  5. A). Loui E had 3 - 70 pt seasons in Dallas, then 3 sub 50 pt seasons in Boston, then a bounceback 63 pt season in Boston. So Jim gave the 31 year old a 6x6 contract Gagner had 8 - 37-49 pt seasons then 16 pt in Philly , then 50 in Columbus. Columbus got 50 pts for $.650 they got the good play and the good contract Guber played 2 years with Willie Mitchell and Brian Campbell so Jim trades for him and expects him to "shelter" Ben Hutton I would say the best signing was Gagner fro $.650 when he was desparate to show he still belonged in the league
  6. you seem to be trying really hard not to understand anything today, so I will slow this down for you. Gagner signed a $.650 contract when he had something to prove Columbus got a good deal on a motivated player If Vancouver had that contract they could have flipped it at the trade deadline this method works better than signing players after they have a breakout or bounceback season the Canucks signed Gagner after the bounceback season and paid too much, then traded Gagner for another player who is overpaid and not likely to bring back any return
  7. Lets use Sam Gagner as an example 2013-16 cap hit $4.8million 2016-17 cap hit $.650 2017-20 cap hit $3,1million When is the right time to sign Sam Gagner? to answer your Q, opportunity
  8. its probably best if we don't look to FLA, Ottawa, NYI or Arizona for solutions to our problems. Just for the record I wanted Gallant as coach, but he made a better decision to go to Vegas Some have mentioned that it would be good to move Jim out of the GM chair and leave him with amateur scouting. Great in theory, but its a bit like asking your wife for a divorce but asking her to stay on for your laundry.
  9. I disagree, I think they has tried to put together a reasoned argument with statistical evidence. I also think they is inexperienced in doing so. I think there are better ways to make the point, but it was a good try.
  10. notice the injury list is almost all High dzone starts, PK, matchup players
  11. that was awesome! kinda reminds me of Gretzky and Broten, but with leg shuffles from both guys, and here I was watching the little guy get rubbed out on the end boards. Anyway, Larson. And I am not against small players, but where are you going to put them all on a 20 man roster? Vegas, Tampa and Winnipeg all have a couple of small players, but the Canucks lack balance
  12. did you read the post I quoted? there is a clue in there for you.
  13. I don't know but it is probably not by signing more Motte, Madden, Artukin (is that his name, 5'1" 126#) Stetcher, Goldy, Dahlen, Leipsic, Beiga, Larson, Weber,
  14. I sense your tongue in cheeckiness Which is kind of funny cuz you sig includes Hamhius and Dorsett Hamhius is an example of botched TDL and sell low (give away) and Dorsett is an example of predictable injury. (see 189 above) Here is a question, do you think Hutton would have developed better playing beside Hamhius for the last 3 years?
  15. That is not what I am waiting for. I am waiting for when that player is inevitably traded and the Canuck faithful claim, "He was a good signing at the time, but just not a fit on this team"
  16. I was not one of those "EVERYONE" It is by far Benning's worst move based on $$s and term, Comparable $$s to Miller, who earned his money and Vrbata who earned 1/2 (1st year) his $$ However, if you add in Gagner, Schaller, Del Z, Nilsson, Sutter, Guber, Kassian, you start to see a pattern of Buy High and/or Sell Low
  17. Motte reminds me of Jordan Schroeder
  18. I bought this from our old friend Zipp Gun about 1980 This was happened int London ant I was there
  19. its Jett Woo day today, sorrily I will be dancing instead. Not sorry I'm dancing, just sorry I'm missing the game. Hoping for highlites
  20. how about speeding down the wing, going behind the net and out the other side, followed by a weak shot or giva-away?
  21. yup, my money is on "Or Someone"
