  1. Well this is where the GM does that GM thing and goes out and finds a better goalie. As I was one hoping a goalie would be claimed, (a D too) and the goalie we lost to was one of those goalies, I have to wonder would the result have been better if we had claimed Curtis McElhinny? I am not one to say that he IS the answer because he is now 35 and may have lost what he once had, but I think he is better than Nilsson and would put preasure on Markstrom to be #1. Miller was better and probably still is. That was a very uninspiring camp, no goalie competition, no D competition and not very much F competition. The problem that this creates is next year Demko could come in, be better than Markstrom and still be a bad goalie. Just like beating Gagner for a job, a player is not beating NHL talent. At least if Jim picked up McElhinny he would have made a statement that his goaltending did not prove enough to keep their job. He did not do that. So with Nilsson on a lame duck contract, Demko can see his name on next years roster whether he earns it or not. I am not buying your arguement that " we suck anyway, may as well keep the worst starter ( or goalie tandem) in the league" My question to you is, " doesn't this situation contribute to complacency?"
  2. How can you not blame your starting goalie when he lets in deflating goals in the first 30 seconds of the game? I think the first goal creates the second goal. Maybe, (its a big maybe) if Edler trusts his goalie he doesn't make that lame save attempt on goal two.

    kind seems like Hutton
  5. I think this will be the worst Canuck team ever assembled We will compete with the likes of the 1925 Briuns for low offense and poor defense 1.6 gf - 4.0 ga or the 2000 Thrashers, 1973 Isles Hopefully better than the 1975 Capitals. Petterson will shine until he either gets injured or runs out of gas then gets injured. Brock will suffer sophmore slump Bo will become more aggitated as the losses pile up and his - soars. This will be a season to remember ... for all the wrong reasons 50 points will be a stretch for any player and the team 4 OA next June

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

yes I like Biega too, but though they call him Bulldog at 5'9" he is more of a Boston Terrier

That seem to be the problem with both of these guys. In a different game you might see the opposite, where Archie takes a pass and Gaunce makes the hit. Neither player seems to have it in their blood to make hits. Its almost like they both know they need to make hits that the coach will notice, and so they do, now and again, but not with consistancy. I kind of get the same feeling from Schaller, though the sample size is small. Goodbranson also, we'll call them "reluctant tough guys" At the NHL level Jim has brought in Dorsett and Rousell, guys that WANT to be physical. Jake has stated that is the player he wants to be... we can hope. But if Archie and Gaunce end up in Utica I wonder where the aggression will come from on the farm? It is not like the Moose days with Kesler, Burrows, Hansen and Bieksa. Who brings the agresssive leadership to Utica? Not Archie or Gaunce
  8. ahh good old Helmut I still ask my kids if they have their Helmut Baldaris before they go bike riding

    Ben Hutton | #27 | D

    ruined by Willie and Lidster
  11. how is it that Mark Striet was drafted when he was 26? Couldn't he just have been signed as a free agent? Drafted in the same draft as Jannik Hansen, Hansen is 33, Streit is 40.
  12. Virtanen and McCann had great camps, so did Hutton, how has that worked out for us?

do you have a video? I could use a good laugh
  14. Bert's Bees used to be owned by Bert, Tom's of Maine used to be owned by Tom, and McDonalds used to be owned by McDonald you stated the Art Knapp sold it to the Zalms in the 50s, that is 60 plus years ago. I would say, "Yup" the Zalms do business under the Art Knapp name anyway we are dribbling off topic, cheers
  15. you seem to be contradicting yourself here
  16. Basically every deal worth north of 10.5 was terrible, but Staal at 10.5 was the steal. It is pretty amazing the consistancy of big dollars poor payout.
  17. I think of it as the Sedin effect, although it probably goes back as far as Trevor Linden. People forget that the Canucks went to the finals with guys like Tiger Williams, and Rockie Delorme, Gino Odjick, Tim Hunter, Shawn Antoski, Bure, Sergio Momesso, Kesler, Torres and Burrows. They ignore that Pat Kane and Duncan Keith have 3 Cups while Doughty and Brown have 2 and Ratboy and Looch also have one. But you hear a certain sector of fans say, " I would n't want those guys within 100 miles of our prospects." Its like every player has to be Trevor Linden or a Sedin or at worst Captain Serious or they are not good enough for our team. Personality = Bad Milquetoast = "the Right way"
  18. Jason Chmera Eaves Smith-Pelly Grabner Staal Probably could have gotten 2 of these for $6 mil and less term
  19. Is that Larschied at a Star Trek convention?
  20. isn't that a bit like saying we should trade for Nathan Walker to fill our 1st line LW?
