  1. YOu are correct, and the Bob Dailey trade can be thrown in there as well but those deals did not affect the Canuck Fans' Psyche like the Neely deal. I am surprised there is not more talk about Woo being moved to the wing Who were the 6 D-men to play ahead of him in the final game? Who was his D partner when he did play defense? I don't watch Abby games, so I do not have a feel for Woo's progress or abilities. But a 21 year old RHD does not seem like the piece to "Dumperoo" unless he has unfixable issues. Good teams do get rid of draft mistakes early while they still have value There has not been much movement of players from the 2018 draft but several from the 2017 # 2 pick, Nolan Patrick has been traded twice, the second time for #6 Glass Owen Tippett was traded from "Win Now" FLA, given they are out already, that move might come back and bite them Vegas is all over this list, having traded 3 first round picks, Glass, Suzuki and Brannstrom Vegas being a "Win Now" team since their inception seem to be proving your point Glass, Suzuki and Brannstrom could turn out to be Vaive, Derlago and Dailey all from the same year. Norris for Karlsson already hurts and looks to for years to come Finally Jokiharju for 2016 first rounder Nylander seems to be working better for Buffalo. as Nylander has been traded again, this time for a 4th rounder Moving to the second round (Canucks only) Lind and Gadjovich were lost to expansion draft and waivers respectively, showing what happens when you hold a player too long and get nothing in return
  2. I hate to bring this up, but you know its the Neely trade that left such a scar on the Canuck fans' psyche Never mind we did good on the Naslund and Bertuzzi deals Canuck fans just want to be sure, so, so, so sure the pick won't pan out for somebody else
  3. I think the Vey trade was the harbinger
  4. What you say istrue however I am having trouble with the concept that the Canucks next top 4 rhd could make the top 6 in Abby Here is a list of top 4 rhd that did not pan out as hoped Myers Hamonic Schmidt Gudbranson Poolman where do you see Woo fitting on that list?
  5. I see you are getting some flack for this post but it is Jim Benning we are talking about maybe he didn't draft him because his name was Jett rather because his name is Woo and it would sound really cool when they anounce a goal followed by the "WOOOO"
  6. thanks, I'll take that under advisement moving on
  7. I 'm thinking maybe the Canucks should scrap the unsung hero award and replace it with the Alex Chiasson award For the player that transcends the most fan hatred and actually becomes liked by some fans
  8. I'll remember never to try humour with you again
  9. I know a kid named Jet Black
  10. re the overpass thing I am an old car guy in the days before fuel injection cars had carburetors the trick with those things was the venturi, which is a narrow spot in the airflow path that caused the fuel to vaporize when I think about being under an overpass in a storm, I think the effect might be similar Apparently the uncle was trying to hide from the hail, but the hail came through the underpass sideways it probably picked up speed on the way through
  11. that is one way of looking at it but on a positive note that is the kind of pick that could have been the sweetener on another Brandon Prust deal
  12. some day when I feel like wasting the day on the computer I will list all ol Jim's draft picks by size but it won't be today cuz I got shizzle to do
  13. My GF landed in Ottawa just moments before it hit. She turned her phone on from airplane mode and got the alert. Her uncle got caught under an overpass, don't take refuge under an overpass, and got a broken window and his car was on 2 wheels twice. Fortunately he did not blow away SHe lost her luggage, as the airport staff disappeared and the luggage could not be unloaded for fear of lightning strike day one of her long awaited holiday she is currently refurbishing her wardrobe at the Giant Tiger in Perth the Weather Network is calling it a Derecho Derecho is Spanish for 'go straight' So the storm cut a straight path from Detroit in a line North East I had never heard of a Derecho before yesterday
  14. this fits with Donnie and Dahli's poll question today 50% of fans said no to both. I am not against either per se, however I believe the timing is wrong with both. As you mentioned, the Canuck leadership might be too fragile to deal with Kane When looking at leadership I look to the Quinn teams of the 90s Pat Quinn was strong enough to deal with whoever came through, and the player leadership fed off of Pat Quinn THis will cause a fire, but, I wonder if Allvin and the Chipmonks have the heart to deal with a Kane in the room? Looking at Edmonton, (and they haven't proved anything yet) but they are a pretty veteran squad. Love him or hate him, I think Dunc Keith is a bigger presence than E Kane they have 8 players 30 or older not counting Kane or Kassian I think those players are helping McDavid "Lead" as he is Some of those players have done it before, some know this might be their last chance Mike Smith is looking like a Tim Thomas, never did it before, but ready to play for his legacy now Kane reminds me a bit of Anson carter, the year he played with the Sedins. If he takes the big money and moves on, he could be the next Loui E or Carter Kadri was a good trade to Colorado at 28, but I'd rather keep Miller than sign him to Vancouver at 31. A younger Kadri would be good though. When the Canucks get to where the Oilers were at mid-season this year, that is the time to pick up a guy like Kane
  15. I know its semantics and somewhat a pet peeve but this is what I think of when I hear folks talk about sandpaper Sandpaper Texture - Bing Ol' Motter and Highmee in mid-season form Now barbed wire on the other hand Old Barbed Wire Fence - Bing images I can get behind that analogy
  16. ITS TRUE THAT THAT KIND OF TALK IS DOWN a little right now, but the OP and the first 2 posts after feel we are close. these types of threads pop up regularly there was a large contingent that wanted to "Let this group try for the playoffs" there is the ever-present JB trades, he did good thread there is a group, although a little quiet right now , that believe the only thing necessary last season was a coaching change, and that Jim B could have stayed look how many posts with rosters have the same 4th line we ended last season with there is a pretty large group who really only want to see Hunt, (man do they ever want to see Hunt go) Poolmen Myers, and Halak go, and bring in Rathbone and Martin and think we are going to win the West
  17. I don't think it is "No standards" as much as it is "No context" It is very popular to believe that this team is close, and there is a set of likeminded fans that will chime in "Here Here" and every one pats each other on the back and says, "You get it" these fans believe that the Canucks will all get better while the rest of the league stagnates or falls off
  18. that was the mistake of "going all in for the playoffs" "Going all in" should be saved for the Cup
  19. Taylor Motter Stats | Baseball-Reference.com
  20. not a peep about the hit on Girard people say the Canucks should stand up for each other that looked like even up + a bit more to me whistles are in their pockets... play to win Kadri, Binny or Girard? Kadri is the only one that would make our team better (and he is the only one still standing) edit but I am sure I would hate him if we played them in the playoffs
  21. Gino, Antoski, Hunter, McIntyre, Momesso, Babych, Courtnall, Murzyn Dirtier because of Cooke I guess, but not WAY tougher
