  1. going to a team with a bad power play it'll be interesting seeing Bo open in the bumper spot, but the puck never getting there Bo (we all) will find out how much Petey/Hughes et al contributed to his numbers
  2. hey, if he can say it with a straight face, it must be true https://www.google.com/search?q=wallpaper bo horvat&tbm=isch&hl=en-US&sa=X&ved=0CCAQtI8BKAJqFwoTCPDJkv-C-vwCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAG&biw=1920&bih=1049&dpr=1
  3. you can't make up new rules because one team, (even Toronto) makes a mess of things. Imagine you are a player or agent walking into Steve Yzerman's office and saying "we want $8m because Dubass just signed X to that deal" Steve looks at you and says, "Well I'd tell you to go sign in TO, but they are capped out and only have a 19 man roster" one thing that needs to die is the concept of "Setting the market" So, everyone waits until player X gets signed by the dumbest GM in the league, then the "Market is Set" the market should be set by the Yzermans, Sakics or LouLams, not the Bennings, Dubass' or Chaykas
  4. but getting to 8 years from 13 was a pretty big step I still think 4-5 years should be the goal, but can't expect it to happen in one go. there does need to be some work done by the GMs, they can't blame the CBA for paying guys into their late 30s here's a fun idea, buyouts should be attached to the team and the GM, so if the Canucks decide to buy out OEL, his hit is attached to JB if he gets another job that would make GMs think twice about "Save my Job" moves. haha
  5. I think you want a captain that doesn't want to be captain
  6. Colton Parayko 4th round Devon Toews , Brayden McNabb - 3rd round
  7. I agree I think what we are seeing is a second "Learning Period" for GMs the first "Learning Period" came with the advent of the cap in 2006-2010 GMs got creative and signed Kovalchuk/ DePietro etc to long contracts with years of league minimum in later years, culminating with the Luongo contract and the Luongo rule. then came several years of increasing cap and GMs started to depend on increased cap, and contracts were signed depending on the number not looking too bad as the cap would outpace the contract. Now we have a flat cap and we are right back to where we were in 2006, with GMs needing again to learn how to live within the cap I think the answer is equal payment contracts and no signing bonus' You want to give player X an 8 year - $64 M contract fine, year one is $8M and years 2 thru year 8 are all $8M each What needs to happen is GMs need to learn to pay players for what they have to offer for the length of the contract, and not pay them into their late 30s for what they can do in their 20s the problem is that GMs are smarter than the league when getting into trouble, but not smarter when getting out It's really no different than the gambling ads on TV, "Know your limit, play within it"
  8. wouldn't that be hilarious HOrvat playing with Captain Tryamkin
  9. that is the way I read that too

judging by their teeth I think she is his sister
  11. man, the Isles really are old if there is a team that could drop, it might be them, but I still wouldn't count on them fall that far in this year because Canuck luck the year after next, right to the bottom
  12. how do you see NYI dropping 8 spots from where they stand right now? I could see Nashville and FLA , maybe even Ottawa and Detroit, but Colom, Chi, Zona SanJ, Anah, VAn, Mon, StL Philly? are just counting on the wheels falling off?
  13. I hope it happens sooner we will see if the Horvat trade emboldens Allvin into more action
  14. besides, we need to lose about 4 wingers to make room for those guys
  15. why not let them win in Abby rather than getting stuffed and shut out against the big boys
  16. ]You would think that, unless its the Islanders but that is my point the Islanders made their move , then suffered 4 injuries in the following 2 days I am not sure about the severity of those injuries, and Lou is trying to sign Horvat long term Other teams might decide to wait, and see if they are felling strong, or depleted nearer the deadline a team looking at Schenn, might suffer 4 significant injures and decide to back off for this year or they might feel as the deadline approaches that they are still in it for a Cup, at which time they decide to go for it a 32 pick for a guy that can play up if need be is not such a high price to pay a 20-24 pick on a team that has recently fallen on hard times would be a lot
  17. Not at all it is 5 weeks til the deadline 33 players injured on Jan 30-31 (4 of those are Islanders) some teams will drop out of races some teams might get an injury close to the deadline, but still be very much in a race Canucks could have gotten more for Horvat if they had waited, or they could have got nothing if he got injured It would be a shame for a team to trade their 1st then fall out of a race due to injuries in the next 5 weeks the deadline is when gamblers come to the fore
  18. the other question I have is, was the return for Trevor Linden better or not Canucks trade captain to Islanders for the second time Bertuzzi, McCabe, Ruutuu <>Beauvllier, Raty and a round 1 Pick
  19. we need to hope Bo lights it up with the Isles if he tanks, he might take all of our other trades with him
  20. on points % the Isle currently pick 13th Lou has guaranteed that if the Isles slip one place in the current draft order, the pick slides Either Bo helps the Isles up or they keep their pick I find it kind of funny that the only talk in this thread about draft movement is about the isles dropping Let me be the first to mention, that the goal of this trade from an Isles standpoint is to improve if the Isle improve by 2.5 wins over the teams above them, the pick goes from 13th to 19th, which is 13 from last that is what a 5 point improvement will net the Canucks just a little food for realty thought given the deal is structured to insolate the Isle from dropping, I think a more astute GM might have bargained for an additional pick if the Isle make the second round, or Bo puts up X number of points in the playoffs
  21. It was the story of the summer of 2017 I don't think Bo has been stressed by any of this, as noted by his strong season in a contract year He has been down this road before and I am no knocking him, I don't blame anyone who wants off the bad ship Canucks as I said, there is lots of blame to go around, If Bo got tired of it, so be it, its still the teams fault I just rarely hold players on the pedestal that the "true fans" do.
  22. It's alright with me if you can't follow the logic it doesn't sound like you even want to try, so it's of no bother to me. Basic homophobia fears the likes of Graham James and Bruce Aldrich, it is a pretty common stereotype that the community is trying to shed If you can't see the value of gay rights people condemning bad acts by pedophiles, I have to wonder what you think the gay rights movement is all about
