Happy to have Neaton on board. Logan, a Winnipeg Jets draft pick, appears to be doing all things Hellebuyck. Trains with him in the off-season, as they have the same goalie coach, and now Logan will be the starting goaltender for the same college Hellebuyck attended. At 6’3”, he’s also a big kid who’s played a lot of hockey, won a lot, and keeps pucks out of the net.
The New York Islanders (formerly the Hurricanes) have always been a team that has been looking for the right young prospects in net. Some have moved onto other teams, but not because they aren’t highly valued or good keepers. More, other teams have need the gems we’ve uncovered (see: Hill, Delia, Korenar). Miss those guys, but they weren’t going to get a chance on our club. In 4-5 years, perhaps Neaton will have proven his worth and will be ready for backup duty in the NHL. Sure hope so.
