Believe it or not, it’s been almost 3 days since my last trade and last trade offer. Could I be *gulp* content with my draft this year?
-
Oh, and even though I made that for the family today, I had a homemade Matcha Monsoon smoothie (ala booster juice) for my breakfast. Because I don’t love myself.

There we go. 9 picks after I selected Norlinder, my other selection I was waffling between gets chosen. Nice one! Now, where does my next guy go?

Belgium Waffles with white sauce and Sausage for my wife and daughter. Because I love them.

[Rumour] Jets shopping Jacob Trouba
Monty replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I remember when Winnipeg was shopping Evander Kane, and they traded him to hometown Vancouver for the spare parts people were posting here. I’m sure they’ll do the same thing with Trouba. They’ll trade him to an American team, and like Kane, move him outside of the Western Conference. -

Not any of the awful proposals I’ve seen here, except maybe Risto. Philly is a terrific trading partner for them. Philly has loads of LHD and desperately need a RHD. Winnipeg needs a LHD. -
Just finished my second workout of the day. 10pm in MB. I’m spent!

Oh yeah, @Art Vandelay. I’ve had this t-shirt for 4 years now. Thought you’d like it:

If either of those defensemen are Bouchard or Dobson, I’m all ears!

Vegan Firefighter Files Human Right Complaint Over Food Served

Have had A LOT of elk and deer. Moose a bit, but not so much. Don’t recall ever having reindeer. Although, if my poor memory serves me, I may have had it once within the last 10 years. As for what I hunted and cleaned in field? Deer. -

As long as people don’t barf their chosen food diet in my face to try and make me: a: Feel bad; and b: Change my dietary decisions Then I’m cool. I went hunting for the first time this winter, as I thought it was important and necessary as a meat eater to know the effort and care that goes into the food I buy at the butcher. I won’t do this all the time, but I felt it was important that I not only know it, but also in case I was ever in a position to have to get my food firsthand, that I could. Most people don’t have the time or live in a destination where this is possible, and that’s fine. For me, it was an important thing to learn. This summer, I’m going to Northern BC with my dad for 5 days, going out on a massive boat with 4 dozen people, and go salmon fishing. Can’t wait! -

I eat meat. I don’t tell others to eat it or not to eat it. Eat what I serve you or don’t. If you don’t, you likely won’t be invited over again. Unless, of course, it’s for cultural/religious reasons that I was unaware of (ie: Beef, Pork), or severe allergies (to which I always ask prior). But if it’s simply, “I don’t eat meat.” TS. I will eat what you serve me, though. Because, manners. -

37 years old. Have wanted to learn how to play piano my entire life. I’m pretty good at picking up musical instruments. Played violin and guitar growing up, and I still sing. But piano was always something I wanted to learn. Been thinking the last couple months about taking beginners lessons this fall.

[Rumour] Kessel only wants to go to Arizona
Monty replied to HKSR's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Let’s just say his clause wasn’t a MNMC (which it is, so they can’t send him down), and that was a possibility. Sure, that makes all the sense in the world. Send a player who got 82 points this year and 92 last year, and hasn’t missed a game in 9 years, straight to the AHL. One dimensional player or not, teams still need players like him. Not a team loaded with Kessel’s, but having one guy that contributed 70+ points a year is incredibly valuable. -
Today was and will continue to be a tough one. Finished boot camp this morning, which took the place of leg day tomorrow. But then I remembered that I’m gone all day tomorrow and can’t do my arms tomorrow, so I’ll have to also do that tonight. Going to be a sore weekend.

Our draft here in Carolina is now concluded. We gave up quite a number off later round picks this year, draft picks in the future, Kris Letang, and goaltender Adin Hill (*sob*) in order to end up up with a first round pick, a second, and two 3rds. The Letang deal, done prior to the start of the draft, yielded a few picks and IRL Wild center prospect, Alexander Khovanov. While Khovanov has now signed his ELC with the Wild, chances are he’ll play in the Q again next season. In his draft season, he registered 28 points in 29 games, due to an injury that shortened his season. This year, at full health, Alex came on with 74 points in 64 games, followed by 10 points in 10 playoff games. Since he was a target for me in last years’ draft, really happy to bring him in. As for the draft this year, managed to come away with 4 players in the first 3 rounds: Patrik Puistola: Patrik had a breakout year and boosted his draft stock in the second half, capping it off with a 5 goals in 5 games at the U18 WJC in April. He needs to work on his skating, as he’s not explosive. However, his offensive skills are fantastic, both as a playmaker and putting pucks in the net. Likely 2-3 years away. Michal Teply: Teply is exactly as advertised. A pure sniper with an NHL ready shot. There is some word that there is a small possibly he could actually challenge for an job next season in the NHL. I don’t believe this will happen, as his skating is his biggest knock. But I do expect him to come over by 2020. Really looking forward to Teply. Domenick Fensore: Oh boy. So Fensore has speed, a high hockey IQ, and offensive talent as well. Had a lot of points this year, and was on the second PP unit for the US National Team. Had he been on the first PP unit, that point total would have been even higher. Committed to Boston College next year, he’s going to a great program. But the issue with him is that he’s 5’7”, which is a problem when you’re a defenseman. With a late birthday, maybe he grows another inch or two (hopefully). He’ll have to overcome A LOT of those height problems to get a shot in the pros. Mattias Norlinder: Second year draft eligible defenseman who carried MODO’s blueline when he was called up. Very quick, great feet, and a high IQ. Not terrific defensively, which is where he’ll need the most work. After passing on him to take Fensore, I decided it was needed to make one more trade to get him. That way, my defensive future is a little more bright. Now time to sit back and see where all the chips fall!

We all make stupid decisions.

Trade for the pick in the works. Waiting on league confirmation

After GM Monty overturned his head scout’s choice for best defenseman available and chose Fensore, we managed to get the scout’s reaction firsthand:
