  1. This is a phenomenal post. I listened to the Revisionist History podcast by Malcolm Gladwell a few months ago, particularly the episode “Free Brian Williams”, which focuses particularly on our memories and how we can’t even trust our own memories at times. How we are so convinced of the truth of a situation, that it is actually not a lie to us, nor do we intend to lie. The event has been changed by so many factors, that we are convinced something happened a certain way. That’s why I also try and subscribe to this... Both of these posts are terrific. I’ve discussed this horrible Burnaby event with my wife, and she is 100% terrified because she knows how her brain works (tunnel vision), and so used to a schedule, that she could see herself making the exact same awful move, because she’s not used to dropping our child off at daycare. That’s all on me to pick up and drop off. That’s my routine. Not an excuse for something absolutely life shattering, but I am not the person to throw stones on this one.
  2. Both good picks. Kokkonen was someone I had that I crossed off perhaps sooner than I should have. May regret it.
  3. Either going to watch Beneath the Silver Lake tonight, or stick to the tried and true...
  4. I watched the first season and loved it. But it’s been so long now, I don’t have the desire to get into season 2. Agreed, though. Cormer is not only the star, she carries the show.
  5. Feeling both good and bad that two of the players that were on my 5 short list were taken immediately after me. Good that I may have been on the right path. Bad that with Puistola...
  6. Have the 57th overall second round pick and four 5th rounders this year left. Will package up to move up in the second round.
  7. Let’s see if we can finish the second round by Sunday!!!
  8. Yup. Definitely not. Not slow, but definitely not fast. That combined with his size is what eventually turned me away. Wasn’t his size that turned me away, just that he wasn’t a fast skater with his size. Puistola isn’t a fast skater, either.
  9. Nice pick. Had a few guys I was choosing at the end, with Hoglander being the last one cut.
  10. I would first like to thank the terrific fans of the Carolina Hurricanes for supporting us this season and throughout the playoffs. I want to thank @Primal Optimist and the wonderful city of Vancouver for hosting all of us, for what will be a memorable night for all of these young draftees and their families. With the 31st pick in the 2019 NHL draft, the Carolina Hurricanes select, from Tappara Liiga... Patrik Puistola @Art Vandelay
  11. I don’t think we need to worry about that.
  12. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY this doesn’t end up like Discovery.
  13. Trade winds are blowing. And they’re as confusing as ever. Think I need a sick day.
  14. Lynch will fit that, for sure. Ugh. Pass.
  15. Made my Pad Thai on the weekend. Here’s the pic. Always throw in Oyster Sauce and Sriracha as well, in order to give it more flavour. So quick. So delicious.
  16. I have one small tattoo on the back of my neck. A cross. Getting my kids names tattooed between my should and neck in two months.
  17. Been in such a rhythm the last two months, I can’t fathom taking 3 days off, let alone 3 weeks!
  18. I finished re-watching it for like the 3rd or 4th time about a month ago. Honest truth, though. I stopped before the last season. Helms was unbearable and the show was just sad.
  19. I did say “older”. I’m turning 37 on Saturday. And while I’m not “old”, I am older. And certainly “old” and “pathetic” if hitting on a 19 year old at a gym. Now, if that same 19 year old is on her way to becoming a doctor, then it’s smart, not pathetic
