  1. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/stars-jamie-oleksiak-ruled-out-tuesday/ Looks like I’ve officially moved onto the 3rd round. However, with Joe Thornton and Radek Faksa not guaranteed IRL to be going on, it’s entirely possible I go head to head against Washington with no players repping me. However, I don’t have a 1st round pick this year, so making it to the 3rd round ensures that pick is the 27th overall. Great playoffs and satisfied with my placement.
  2. Just found this out. Looks like Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) had a cameo/death in this season’s premiere
  3. Did Woody Allen direct the episode? "Did we get the shot? Good. Next scene."
  4. That’s what I’m assuming as well. Holland is a terrific GM. And should he (expected) take some of his staff with him, the Oilers scouting and development will improve. However, look at Holland’s history. He did not improve the Wings by trading a few pieces. He completely revamped their organization and built it from the ground up. He didn’t trade for a winner, it took years of drafting and development to create one. The Oilers are a broken organization. Holland can’t fix them with one, two, three, four trades. It’ll take buyouts, bad trades (ie: retainment on bad contracts for close to zero assets in return), getting rid of staff, hiring new staff, and years of drafting and development to turn that team into anything resembling a respectable franchise. At which point, it is highly possible that McDavid could be entering the final year or two of his current contract. The Oilers are terrible. The damage is so deep that it’s not a quick fix. It’s going to be long and painful. Painful to the point where they will have “wasted” McDavid’s initial 8-10 years in the league.
  5. Doubtful. Although, stranger things have happened. See: My team making it past the first round.
  6. This was Easter Dinner (without the sides): Braised short ribs on top of a bed of ridiculously unhealthy mashed potatoes. The short ribs were braised in Guiness and beef broth, along with some spices (ie: Thyme) as well as celery, carrots, onions, etc, for about 3 hours. This was so tasty and rich, that I was actually a little sick afterwards, and not because I ate too much. I’m so used to working out and eating more healthy, that my system was not ready for what I made. I only had one serving, while my wife and brother each had two servings. That’s when I know I’ve done well, when people go up for seconds. That’s all I need to fill my heart up.
  7. Whoever makes it through your series, I’m toast regardless.
  8. I’d bold specific areas of a post I agree with, but this is a perfect summation of the film. A guy that seemed to believe that he had no other options as the day and night unfolded, and the screenwriters/directors did a superb job in making it seem like he really didn’t have any other options. More importantly, I felt both the writers and Pattinson made it easy to empathize with his situation. Certainly not agreeing with his choices, but just one bad decision after another, that the lead character seemed to believe were his only choices in the moment. I’ve only watched it once, but I know I’ll come back to it in time. There are movies over the years that immediately vaulted into my top 10. This joins “Take Shelter” as films that category.
  9. The Fyre Festival was organized and run better than the Oilers have been.
  10. I really hope that he doesn’t take it. To have the Oilers miss out on their top two choices (McCrimmon and Holland) would be hilarious.
  11. To be fair, everyone thought Dubynk was a bad goalie. He was on Montreal, Nashville, and Arizona, all in the same year.
  12. @D-Money Yeah, Pettersson is not exempt. Hughes is, though. Cale Makar is not exempt, either. Fabbro is exempt, though.
  13. Pretty sure he’s not. Any player that played a set amount of NHL hockey games this year is eligible. I’d have to double check this, because I “heard” (I think) on TSN radio that that includes Dante Fabbro and Cale Makar.
  14. There’s the source of your “friction”, Loui.
  15. I really hope these two aren’t linked in a trade. While Ehlers has been underwhelming the last two playoffs, the last thing I’d want is Lucic, even at 50% reduced salary. I’m somewhat positive his NMC, which changes to a LNMC in the 2021-2022 season, makes it that he would still need to be protected for expansion. EW!!!!
  16. As expected, new Vampire Weekend is awesome. I specifically didn’t listen to any of the tracks they were releasing the last few months, as I like to experience an album and it’s songs all at once for the first time. One song I was really worried about was Flower Moon. The first 30 seconds have a weird vocoder (or whatever it’s called) that Imogen Heep pretty much relied on 24/7 to make music. When it kicked in, even for that one song, I was like “Oh please, no.” Thankfully, it stops incredibly quickly and the song changes up really quickly. It’s almost like Ezra Koenig knew it was a bad idea, but kept it in as a joke. I’m sure I’ll change my mind, but my favourite song on the album is “Stranger”. What I love about the album, that Pitchfork pointed out, is that it feels very much like The White Album. Not in the sound, or just the fact that it’s a double album, but that it’s a collection of great genres and ideas. Great to see VW back. Reminds me how happy music can be.
  17. Finished either week 5 or week 6. Either way, down 14 (or 15) pounds. But that’s secondary. I’m feeling terrific and seeing definition in my shoulders (quite a bit) and thighs, now. While I’m eating healthy and often, I still have a gut and love handles. Considering I’ve never done anything but cardio and legs before, it’ll take time to carve that off. And I’m realistic. I know some people can never be chiseled and have a 6 pack, I’m one of those people. So as long as I improve, which I am, I’m happy. Feeling so good.
  18. Not the ideal working out music, but I’m heading into the gym right now, and will try to get through my workout without smiling.
  19. I can understand. They look very similar...
  20. If that’s all it takes, Winnipeg will extend him. I’m guessing he’ll be in the $3.75M region.
  21. On the report that everyone in Pittsburgh is available, outside of Sid and Malkin, I’m not sure what makes Kris Letang so available for them. When the team is rolling, and Letang is healthy (which is about 75% of the time), he’s an absolute force. Not sure who they’d get to replace him. The only available blueliner that can be a “replacement” would be Jacob Trouba, but I don’t see Letang having Winnipeg (or any other Canadian team) on his list of 18 teams he’d except a trade to. The provincial taxes alone wouldn’t make sense there, aside from the the fact that it’s Winnipeg. Unless it’s a 3 way trade, example... To Pitts: Trouba To Philly: Letang + To Peg: Provorov ...then I’m not sure how the Pens can replace what Letang brings.
