  1. It’s close, either me or Washington. But I’ve been expecting to play against you for a while now. Carolina sneaking in certainly puts a wrench in our series for me. However, with it looking like Mike Smith will actually start for the Flames (albeit on a short leash I’m sure), I may actually have a shot against you having Hellebuyck. Had the Canadiens made it in instead of the Canes, and the Wild with a healthy Dumba, I’d have a much better chance. But it is what it is. I’ll post again later, but this is what it looks like for me: Panarin - Kadri - Laine Johnsson - Thornton - Lee Faksa - Eller - Ryan Aston Reese - Frolik Letang - Byfuglien Andersson - Pulock Coburn - Ozhiganov Smith DeSmith Black Aces: Tye Felhaber Sam Lafferty Keegan Kolesar Joel L’Esperance Jayden Halbgewachs Luca Sbisa Grant Hutton Alexandre Carrier Eric Comrie Josef Korenar Radim Simek (although, that ACL injury)
  2. I do this, but I don’t mess around. I’ll get off, immediately go to the next machine (30 second break at most), and start my set. Then immediately back. But for those people that are spending 2 hours at the gym, with no cardio in it, I don’t get it. There are these two guys in their late 40s/early 50s who stand around talking to each other every day, for about 10-20 minutes before they start their next set. Granted they are in good shape, so whatever works for them, but it actually bothers me to see them wasting their day away like that. I know they aren’t in a circuit, so that’s fine. I get it. But I’ve got to get back to work and get stuff done. Not sure what these waste of space Neanderthals are doing.
  3. I’m loving the gym so far. But yesterday and today I was losing my mind. With my circuit, I only have a bit of time before I move to my next workout. Because I go at the same time everyday, I see the same 7 people, which is fine. But this one guy yesterday and today just sat on the seated knee calf today and the cable row yesterday for far too long. Yesterday he was sitting there between sets for, no joke, 10 minutes. I just moved on after 2 minutes of waiting to my next workout and waited till the end to fit it in. For the seated knee calf, I didn’t even bother. I just took two dumbbells and did it manually instead. I can’t be bothered with that. Infuriating.
  4. Third week of consistent workouts is almost done. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were tough to get the motivation in the morning, but that’s more due to my sleep those nights. Had a great night sleep and a fantastic workout today. Feeling stronger in my arms. Legs don’t feel that much different. However, I do feel that I’ve worked them quite a bit, as I’m doing a lot of lunges and squats, so I know there’s a difference. Abs don’t feel different at all. I’m sure that’s because I have a gut which, in time, will develop. As I said earlier, I’m not motivated to get in shape by a particular time, just want to keep this up. I’m loving the workout routine and the feeling in the afternoon and evenings. Already have more energy.
  5. The Twilight Zone (2019) The first two episodes dropped last night. Obviously don’t want to give away anything. But I’ll say what I can. Episode 1 “The Comedian”, could have been, in my opinion, one of the worst pilot episodes of anything, ever. Horribly and painfully predictable. Tracey Morgan, in a very minor/reduced role, was really good. And I have never liked Morgan. Kumail Nanjiani, who I’ve always liked, was awful. However, he really didn’t have much to work with. The script and premise was awful. Episode 2, “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet”, which is a spiritual successor to one of the original (and greatest) Twilight Zone episodes “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”, is terrific. Well acted by the always reliable Adam Scott. While the first episode is, by all accounts, the worst bit of 50 minutes you’ll watch, it’s obviously worth watching what will ultimately (hopefully) be a good series.
  6. His entire roster, AHL team, and prospects are Americans. Though, Belgium born Sean Day doesn’t really fit, so he’s still not quite there
  7. Ditto. Such a terrific episode. So many jokes thrown in that I’m sure I missed some: ”Nothing, I just wanted to get away from ‘Blue is the most annoying colour’ over there.” “Hey, sweatpants! You can’t just walkout, this isn’t a Terrance Mallick movie.” And the mother of all jokes: ”If Mohamed Atta had you people booking his travel, he’d still be alive today, which for him would be a major f*** up!”
  8. Agent News: All updated NMC/NTC lists have been sent out to the teams, which will run from April 1st to December 31st. If you have a player with a NTC/NMC that wasn't included, this is because they are entering the first year of the contract where the NMC/NTC kicks in. If you did not receive a list, please let me know.
  9. My workout consists of my circuit training Monday-Friday, so Saturday and Sunday are my off days. However, learned that it’s still important to get some movement, not just lay around. So today at the pool with my wife and daughter, I took 20 minutes to do some laps before joining them. Good, low impact little workout to get the joints moving.
  10. My dinner was a banana, spinach, and peanut butter smoothie. Tasty, though boring.
  11. Still going strong. Second straight week of circuit training and feeling really good. Doesn’t feel like a chore at all. Gained a little weight in the first week, and now I’m back to where I started, which is totally expected and fine. I feel stronger and I know I’ll get leaner in time. The best thing, though, is that I actually don’t have that feeling of, “I better trim down by ‘such and such’ date.” It’s all in name of just living healthier and feeling better. Couldn’t actually give two rips if I look better. Just want to feel better.
  12. Agent News: Reminder that the current NTC/NMC lists will reset and new ones will be sent out April 1st. So if you’ve been discussing trades involving these players, best to finalize those now, as the chances of them having the same teams on their list is very small. Also, any player with a full NTC/NMC who is a pending UFA, they will accept a trade to any organization, as they are not signed beyond this season. However, when trading their rights, there is NO guarantee they will extend. While they may, the odds are slim.
  13. Free Solo Won the Academy Award for Best documentary this year. I haven’t seen the others, so I can’t say if it’s better than the others. I will say that it’s not the best documentary I’ve seen. Not by a long shot. It is impressive to see the mental toughness and athleticism it takes to free climb like he did. That said, obviously what he’s doing is incredibly stupid. While he didn’t die, chances are he will someday. As they said in the film, all free solo climbers end up dying. There’s also something up with him, mentally. His father had Aspergers, so it’s possible he has some variation of that, because he comes across like a giant asshole. I’d say it’s worth watching, but more for the stupidity of what he did. EDIT: The more I’ve thought about this, the more I’m liking it. Again, not even close to the best documentary I’ve seen. I think the fact it won an Academy Award this year is more a reflection of how poor the lineup was, as I’ve seen runner ups in previous years that are far better (ie: Winter on Fire and What Happened Miss Simon lost to Amy ). However, I think what bothered me while watching it was Alex Honnold, and not understanding him as a person. The more I’ve thought about him, the more I get him. If he had a wife and kids to think about, then he certainly couldn’t do what he was doing. But very impressive. If this is playing in a theatre nearby, especially an IMAX, then it’s a must see. We have a 110” screen + all the necessary trimmings to watch it as it’s intended, so I’d highly recommend watching in the best possible environment you can. Because the visuals are quite extraordinary.
  14. I had a boss about 12 years ago who was somewhat similar to Michael. Really nice guy, but we had 15 minute meetings every day that ALWAYS ended up 45 minutes long. He was so concerned about making everyone happy and being their friend, that he would restate the message so it was tailored in a way our team of 8 people, 8 different ways, so we wouldn’t get offended. I remember one meeting where a guy in his 60s finally said, “Just tell us the news and let us get back to work!” Had another coworker at the bank who was similar to Dwight, in that he was super aggressive and bitter towards anyone that was promoted over him, and would actively try and take them down. I always had to talk him off the ledge. About 2 years after I left that job, he called me and said he was trying to get people together (all ex employees) who would file a complaint about the boss, in order to get her fired. I just told him, “We don’t even work there anymore. You don’t either. And she’s retiring in less than a year. I’m not sure what the benefit would be to anyone.” No Andy, though. And also no Ed Helms. Any one of those would have been unbearable.
  15. Made a spinach and mushroom omelette for my post workout meal for lunch. Yum.
  16. Sometimes you just want to shut your brain off And there are consequences to that That’s why I’ve been turning back to The Office for, yet another viewing. I’m currently in season 6. As soon as Michael leaves, I might watch a bit of the Robert California season. Have to stop before it goes off the deep end and turns to Ed Helms. Honestly, what were they thinking?
  17. Okja is good. I liked it a lot. Winter on Fire is a must watch. It’s been about 3 or 4 years since I watched it, and I still think about it.
  18. I know it won’t crack my list, but I still want to see it. I already suspect what I’ll crown my favourite from last year, but I do need to give Roma, The Guilty, and BlacKKKlansman a viewing.
  19. Still have the following movies to watch from 2018. Then I can crown my fav from last year: Roma The Guilty Widows BlacKKKlansman The Kindergarten Teacher Bad Times at the El Royale
  20. Oh, maybe it was Vinny. I was the last team to have him.
  21. I knew I’ve seen that name recently. Looked on Netflix and remembered that I watched the preview. That’s what I want to see, a bio on Motley Crüe
  22. I’m pretty sure I gave you Brayden Schenn and Madison Bowey in that trade for rental Brent Seabrook. You absolutely won that trade.
  23. I wasted a late second round pick on him, here. Zach Senyshyn was taken right after. Lots of guys dropped in that draft.
  24. I knew it wasn’t going to age well. If it did, then that was going to be all on me. But I was surprised at how bad it was, and how wrong I was when I was a teenager. However, 15 year old me knew this was in the movie, so there’s no excuse. This is all on me.
