  1. Mortal Engines One of those times where, on paper, it had a lot going for it. But it just fell flat. Some stuff was good, then it just crapped the bed on others. More than anything, the characters were fairly empty. While based on a book from 2003, the film borrowed A LOT from other successful movie moments, most notably Mad Max Fury Road and The Empire Strikes Back. And it wasn’t subtle. The first 10 minutes it’ll hit you over the head. It looked gorgeous, though. But that’s not surprising, considering Peter Jackson produced it through his company.
  2. As @D-Money already said, it gets (IMO) far too much hate for what it is. A stupid popcorn flick. Not supposed to be anything more than what it is. If you have a good setup to watch it at home, it’s worth it.
  3. I watched this again a month ago and forgot that she was even in it. My favourite scene/clip in Avatar is when he’s drinking a coffee in his death vehicle. As meticulous as Cameron is in the details for his films, how on Earth (or Pandora) did this make sense
  4. I have this ready to watch, soon. McQueen is a great Director. Did not know that Michelle Rodriguez was in it. Will temper my expectations simply because of that. Her films include the Fast and Furious franchise, and that’s it. I keep meaning to watch what I’ve long expected to be a steaming pile of dog crap.
  5. Carolina OTB Update San Jose Sharks Melker Karlsson (signed for one more year at $2M) is still OTB, with 2 teams deciding whether to part with asset for him. To narrow down return, looking for 2nd round pick, or multiple mid/late round picks. If a prospect, looking for a recently drafted 2nd or 3rd round player.
  6. If the horse is big and slow, then I guess “Gudbranson” would be fitting.
  7. Going to save everyone the time of hiring him on before he gets banned again. Confirmed: SwedeHockey/Kaner We’d all be better off if this man was asking to be an AGM
  8. Been a little over a year (I think) when I watched it. My favourite thing about the movie was how neither of the real life couple wanted to seek out attention or have the typical “Hollywood” moment in a movie where someone stands up and makes a moving speak. Regular people who just wanted to live quietly and be with each other without drawing attention to themselves. Let the lawyers lawyer while they keep living. Thought it was great.
  9. Only Hart and DeSmith are off limits. Ukko-Pekka will take a hell of a return, though.
  10. Carolina Hurricanes Unless something is worked out for a goaltender, the Hurricanes will be less aggressive in trade talks than in previous months. We are set up well for a good run for the playoffs. If there are competing teams that are interested in adding a piece, San Jose Shark Melker Karlsson is on the block. Roster player, prospect, draft picks. Either one of those would be fine.
  11. Big thanks to @_arby_18 for the negotiations. Took some time, but found something that worked for both of us. This was going to be a straight one for one, but a little more discussion about a draft pick made sense for both of us. Arby gets to continue to build through the draft, and I shed a contract spot. Mikey Anderson is one of my favs, and there is a very real possibility that he plays next season in sheltered minutes for the Kings. Lemieux is also a personal fav of mine. However, this is all about maintaining my wildcard spot and having more depth for the playoffs.
  12. Carolina Hurricanes Another trade just completed. More playoff depth coming in. Trading away one favourite and bringing in another. OTB: Playoff teams looking for a San Jose Shark, Melker Karlsson is available. Reach out and make an offer!
  13. I didn’t like NN. On that alone, didn’t bother with I Can Feel...
  14. Aside from the draft, this is my favourite time of fantasy season. Lost track of how many irons in the fire. Fun fun.
  15. Thanks to @Jaku for quick negotiations. Trading Sheary was as emotional as one can get in fantasy hockey. Three players I’ve been especially proud of in my UFA signings before making it in the NHL are Artemi Panarin, Derek Ryan, and Conor Sheary. Saying goodbye to Conor isn’t easy, but it’s needed in order to compete in the first round this year, and Eller will help with that.
  16. I wonder what nationality that asset would have to be
  17. Solid offer on the table to bring in a top 6 winger, but giving up a solid prospect and roster player in return. Going to have to do some serious thinking:
  18. @bishopshodan Be prepared for Split, though. It’s a lot like Gangs of New York in that, if not for the performance of James McAvoy, it would be a pretty bad movie, actually. McAvoy makes it good with such a great performance.
  19. Split was surprisingly good. And yes, you definitely need to watch it first. Haven’t seen Glass, yet. Likely won’t until it’s available on Netflix.
  20. For tv reviews, AV Club used to be “ok”, at best. I feel like I can get a good handle on tv shows after a bit of digging. So not sure what a good site would be. I do a lot more digging on a tv show to watch than a movie. For movies, I’m finding it a little more difficult than I used to, perhaps because I’m older now and don’t want to watch something too out of my wheelhouse. For pure entertainment, I like YouTube’s Half in the Bag (RedLetterMedia). That’s more of a good, humorous tv show show investment (30-40 minutes). For more in depth reviews, I’m not sure to be honest. I find that good reviews inevitably end up spoiling the film. I’ll usually read up on the synopsis and go from there, without finding out too much about it. So, to answer your question. I don’t know.
  21. Carolina Hurricanes Come to me asking what the cost is on my players and who I like from your roster.
