  1. Love the Canucks, but living in Winnipeg and being a Jets fan and season ticket holder as well made the Canucks passing on Ehlers alright in my eyes. Was thrilled that he dropped to the Jets. 6 points in 8 games so far.
  2. Re-Animator is so amazing. And no, it was never explained. --------------------------- Jupiter Ascending - Oh brother/10 Awful.
  3. Agree with this. I really liked it, save a few parts. Otherwise, really cool.
  4. I think I may have given it a 5/10, or a "this should be a miniseries"/10. The idea is a solid 10, but due to time constraints, and certainly the oddness of being caught in another dimension, takes it down quite a bit. ---------------------------------- Crimson Peak - 3/10 Away training for work all week, so staying in a hotel room without the wife. Went to see this last night, with low expectations. Worse than I expected. Jessica Chastain was easily the best part of the film. But even she could only do so much. She was really trying her best. But everyone else was either wooden (ie. Hunnan), or was just doing the best they could with the material they were given. This was neither scary or enjoyable. Bigger budget horror movies NEVER work.
  5. Howard the Duck 15 minutes in. Wow. This. Is. Terrible.
  6. Moneyball - 7/10 On a whim, decided to watch it again. Holds up well. Not great, but certainly far from the worst sports film out there. ------------------------------------ Inside Out - 9/10 Gotta say, this is one of the most original kids films in quite a while. Really enjoyed it.
  7. I enjoyed it the first time around, but loved it this second time around. First time I squirmed quite a bit; but knowing some of what was coming made it a little easier to watch and I could just soak it all in. One thing that really held up from the first viewing was the last 20 minutes when it started raining blood. While I loved it throughout, the ends does not disappoint. ---------------- And as far as any other Burt Reynolds movie other than Deliverance, The Cannonball Run is phenomenal. And, although not a true Burt Reynolds film, he's great in Boogie Nights.
  8. Tried to watch Burt Reynolds "White Lightning" last night. Had to stop after 20 minutes.
  9. Paul Verhoeven's films are so good. Robocop, Total Recall, and Starship Troopers are so incredibly cheesy. Starship Troopers especially is one of my all time favourites. "Good for you, son! Mobile infantry made me the man I am today!" *cut back to show man missing his arm and both his legs*
  10. The Visit - 4/10 Light years better then anything M. Night Shyamalan has done in a very, very long time. But still pretty lame.
  11. Evil Dead (2013) - 8.5/10 Forget what I gave it a few years ago, but I still love it. Wouldn't have worked if the remake would have tried to take a tongue in cheek approach like the originals. As a straight up horror film, so good and ridiculously bloody. Terrific.
  12. Cameron Diaz? As in, "The Other Woman", Cameron Diaz? As in, D-Money's favourite film, Cameron Diaz?
  13. Her role in Take Shelter is enough to convince me that she's appropriately rated as an actress.
  14. Limitless - D-Money was wrong/10 This. Was. Terrible.
  15. The Martian - 8/10 Have a difficult time finding anything wrong with it. I probably wouldn't watch it again, so that's a knock. But otherwise, really, really solid. Great performance by Damon, but that's not really surprising. Definitely worth seeing.
  16. Wife and I are going to see The Martian this afternoon. She wanted to go see The Intern. I said she would immediately have to watch 99 Homes, followed by 2 zombie films in order for me to agree to that. The Martian it is.
  17. The anger that the kids show when they swear is kind of scary, especially Ricky. Seems like he has serious anger issues The death scenes are absolutely amazing. The way the girl dies in the shower, just standing there the entire time, until hours later when someone finds her and her body falls from the stall. Her dead, lifeless body was standing the entire time The guy who dies from the bees, "I'll be right there guys, but first, I gotta take a wicked dump." And yeah, that ending. If you haven't seen it yet, I would suggest you watch Re-Animator for your next October film. It's amazing.
  18. My wife can't stand comedy shows that make you cringe (ie. BBC Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm). At first, she was the same with The Last Man on Earth. She would just leave the room and leave me to watch it alone. However, minutes later I would hear her busting out laughing over something she heard. She did that a few times in the first season, because it really was tough to watch "Tandy" just lie all the time. But she kept coming back to it. And so far, even though it's only two episodes in, they are really doing a great job with the characters. Forte's character has learned to be more patient and honest, while Schaal has loosened up a ton. The end of last episode in Malibu and Schaal reaction, priceless!
  19. Not a movie, but The Last Man on Earth is probably the best comedy to come around in a long, long time. Thought that the premise would get old and run it's course after 3 episodes last season, but they kept switching things up. Not as predictable as I thought it would be. Only two episodes so far this season, but already terrific. Happy to see Will Forte and Kristen Schaal tearing it up over the last several years.
  20. Still one of the best comedy TV series ever.
  21. Taken 3 - 2/10 Not nearly awful as the second one, but still pretty bad. No straight up dumb moments like there were in the second instalment.
  22. I'm definitely there with you on his "mediocre streak". I liked Flght, more so than I thought. It was also a lot darker than what Zemekis is usually known for, which was actually a nice change. Otherwise, I hadn't liked a film of his since Forrest Gump.
  23. I'll see it. RZ has made some terrific films, with Who Framed Roger Rabbit being one of my all time favs. Like JGL, and the doc was fantastic.
  24. ^^ Watched the trailer a few days ago. Can't wait.
  25. I must have missed something when I watched it. Perhaps I'm too critical.
