  1. Mad Max Fury Road - 6.5/10 Was looking forward to it, and it didn't disappoint, Charlize Theron was really the driving force in the film. Would have been nice to see Tom Hardy's character flushed out more, and have more than 10 lines. Nicholas Hoult was terrific as Nux. All in all, enjoyable.
  2. Well, just like Zero Dark Thirty, you still have 3 more viewings until you make up your mind
  3. Welcome to Me - 5.5/10 Kristen Wiig's new dramady. Been around a few people with borderline personality disorders, and this was very uncomfortably accurate. So for me, it was a lot more sad than it was funny. Gets a passing grade for acting and accuracy in the portrayal of someone with mental health issues. Wouldn't watch it again, though.
  4. No spoiler tag alert! If you've seen a comic book movie in the last 15 years, then you've seen Ultron.
  5. This was a weekend to remember for me and "my wife". National Treasure - 3/10 As dumb as you can get. But, because it's Nic Cage, it's watchable. But again, dumb. ----------------------------------------------------------- National Treasure 2 - 2/10 Worse than the first one, especially dragging in Helen Mirren and Ed Harris. But again, Nic Cage.
  6. They're slowing down the series so they don't catch up to the books. As such, Bran and Hodor are not in this season at all. They will focus on their story next season. And if I'm correct, next season won't have Peter Dinklage in it either, in order to slow down the story.
  7. Still haven't been able to get past the first 15 minutes of Burke & Hare. Have you had time to watch A Fantastic Fear of Everything?
  8. Avengers: Age of Ultron - 3/10 Was dragged to this by my co-workers last night (team bonding???????). I'm just tired of all these empty superhero movies. The worst part was that I didn't get home until 2am. Effectively ruining my day today. Oh yeah, and
  9. This is why I try not to re-watch films that much. I've only seen Zero Dark Thirty once, same with Argo and Life of Pi. I know what the films are and know that, for me, they should only be viewed once. I did re-watch Django Unchained, as I did not like it the first time and took issue with the ending. Upon second viewing, I liked it a lot more. Only watched Moonrise Kingdom once. My least favorite Wes Anderson film.
  10. After losing 40 pounds over a year ago, still kept most of it off. I've gained about 6 pounds over the last 5 months, and haven't been working out. Have been thinking about cutting out my coffee (cream/sugar), cutting out my cheese and milk intake, and getting back to the swimming pool.
  11. ^^^ I think I may have given it about the same. While not incredible, it was a film that was very important that Bigelow get as close to "right" as she could. Because the events were so recent, it would have been a bigger deal had it been a disappointment then say, had Argo been a disappointment (not saying it was).
  12. ^^^ Watched most of it. Perhaps I wasn't in the right mood when I watched it, but I wasn't feeling it.
  13. Love Stranger Than Fiction. Not only underrated, but easily Will Ferrell's best film.
  14. I don't know if I can choose between Shaun of the Dead and The World's End. Initially, I would have said Shaun. However, I've seen World's End around 4 times now and it gets better every time I've watched it. Unlike Shaun and Fuzz, I found The World's End takes a few viewngs to start appreciating it. There are some really terrific scenes. The challenge that Wright/Pegg had with World's End was balancing the amount of screen time the main characters had. In previous films, they wrote the films so that Pegg and Frost were to have the majority of the screen time and character development. However, with World's End, they challenged themselves by adding in the group dynamic, which was a whole new challenge. Having to spend time with three more actors and adding in Rosamind Pike as the love interest meant less screen time for the duo. This is why it takes further viewings to appreciate it. I found that I had to take a different approach in watching it than I do when going into Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.
  15. Another film that goes unnoticed after all these years and, for some reason, is not even considered to be one of the best comic book films ever, is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Again, Edgar Wright absolutely nails it.
  16. Lucky. I've always enjoyed Ferrell. He had the best performance in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus, was solid in Minority Report (ridiculously underrated film), and yes, terrific in In Bruges.
  17. Edgar Wright is such a great director/writer. And to those that prefer Shaun of the Dead or The World's End, again, I love those films as well. And while I prefer Zombie films as a whole over the generic "shoot 'em up" films, Hot Fuzz, to me, is such a terrific film. The action is actually more enjoyable than generic action films, but the characters are so much more enjoyable to watch. Oh yeah, and this guy and this guy are the same person.
  18. Hot Fuzz - 10/10 While I love every film in the "Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy", this one has always been my favorite. So many Easter Eggs in the film you can't count, the casting is superb, and the writing is spot on. Again, I love Shaun of the Dead and The World's End, but this one is my favorite by a country mile.
  19. Have All is Lost in my queue to watch. Maybe this weekend.
  20. Just started watching The Babadook. Have a change of pants ready and waiting. EDIT: The Babadook - Don't understand the hype/10 At no point was I scared or on edge. Don't understand the love for it.
  21. Watched it a few years ago. I remember enjoying it; but remember very little of it at the same time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whiplash - 9.5/10 One of the best music related films I've ever seen. While I knew what I was getting into, it didn't disappoint.
  22. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good film. I just don't understand how some consider it to be one of the best films ever made. However, this is coming from a guy who was on heavy painkillers when he watched Speed Racer, thought it was the best movie made, and was crying at the end. So nobody should take what I say too seriously.
  23. I think we can all roughly guess the age of some.
  24. Boyhood - 6.5/10 Ambitious film, that's for sure. Enjoyed all 5 hours of it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Driving Cars 7 (aka. Fast/Furious 7) - 3/10 Some impressive action scenes, but the dialogue is incredibly dumb. Laughably, laughably dumb.
