  1. I've always liked Rene Russo, but she's always been a completely forgettable actress. Her performances are nothing special.
  2. Will be about as watchable in 10 years as 8 Mile is today.
  3. Dumb and Dumber To - 0/10 One of the worst "movies" I have ever seen.
  4. 4/10 is more generous than it deserves. I believe I gave it a 1.
  5. This was one of the reasons I enjoyed it. Happy ending, which is always nice; although not always the most believable. However, it was the honest and real relationship between Favreau, his son, and Leguizamo that felt incredibly natural and real. Also, I really like making food and secretly love MasterChef, Chopped, and Million Dollar Critic. So the fact that it was, what seemed to be, a very well made food movie, made me enjoy it that much more.
  6. The Boxtrolls - 8/10 Short review. Loved it. Not a big fan of animated movies for kids anymore, but this was a lot of fun.
  7. Chef - 7.5/10 Really enjoyed it. Though I'm a big Food Network fan, so I'm also not surprised that I did. Enjoyed how natural the male relationships were handled in the film.
  8. So you're the person that watched Mr. And Mrs. Smith.
  9. While I loved Her, I wouldn't put it into the typical "rom-com" genre. Less "com" and more "rom". As for Amelie, to each their own, no matter how wrong they (i.e. you) may be.
  10. Interesting. You're the first person that I've heard that didn't like it. I'm sure there are more that don't, but this is a first for me. I've always loved Amelie. For a romantic comedy, I feel as though it's in another league, compared to the majority of "rom-coms".
  11. Been a while since I watched The Descendents. I remember enjoying it, but it didn't stick with me enough to remember what grade I would have given it. Probably around a "7" as well. Wife and I had a lot of fun with The Way Way Back, though. Love films that capture the awkwardness of being a teenager and not having the social skills to talk to anyone. One thing my wife and I were interested in seeing was perhaps a "true to life" film about a kid on the opposite end of the spectrum. One that grows up popular (teenage girl or boy) but treats shy, unpopular kids poorly. The reason why that intrigues us is because you don't hear about why that happens. What is it about those kids' home lives, personal issues, that make them treat some like "Duncan" in The Way Way Back poorly? What's the motivation for this? Obviously if that film were to get made, there would have to be character progression, so you don't grow to keep hating this character from start to finish. But it would be interesting nonetheless.
  12. The Way Way Back - 7/10 Solid film by the writers who gave us The Descendents (Jim Rash & Nat Faxon). Great acting all around, particularly by Rockwell and whoever played the kid.
  13. Yes, it's perceived negatively because But it is not saying that infidelity is worse than murder.
  14. First of all, my post you're referencing clearly states that he did not deserve what his wife put him through. Just that he wasn't a saint of a husband. Second, the film didn't make infidelity seem as bad or worse than murder. What it showed was that his wife was a sociopath. It wasn't a difficult movie to follow.
  15. The Other Woman I'll say this about "The Other Woman", it's terrible. 0/10
  16. I thought the ending was handled incredibly well, to be honest. The husband's final decision:
  17. While there may have been a "scream" or two in My Left Foot, DDL performance was far from what described. I think the roles that DDL chooses call for an actor who can really only do what he does. By that I mean only a select few actors would be able to pull off Christy Brown, Bill the Butcher, Daniel Plainview, and Abraham Lincoln. I'm sure he can play roles that call for less intense portrayals; but from what I have read and heard about him, those roles, while nothing to sneeze at, probably would not be too challenging for him.
  18. Having watched Capote since the initial viewing (around 2005 I believe). I remember really enjoying it. I haven't watched it since, and I own the movie. But I would agree that I don't think I'd rewatch it. That said, from what I remember, I would still give it a 8.5/10 (at least). That said, after I just typed "2005", I realized that is not 10 years ago. My how time flies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Wick - 8/10 Yes, I know. First off, I'm rating this based on the genre that it is in. For an action film, this really had a lot more going for it than the typical revenge film (i.e. Taken, Jason Statham films, etc). Now, Keanu Reeves continues his wooden performance streak as the titular character; however, it fits for who he is portraying. Every actor held his/her own quite well, particularly Theon Greyjoy. Not sure if people know what initially sets Wick off, but I'm pretty sure the trailers hinted something happening with his puppy. Well, my wife and I owned two dogs, a French Bulldog and a Boston Terrier (picture below). Our Boston Terrier passed away on December 30th at the age of 10, and the wife and I are still having a difficult time getting over it (we don't have kids yet). So, if you have a heart for dogs, the opening 15 minutes might be difficult to get through. My wife left, breaking down into tears as it hit too close to home. Here's my dog. Miss you pal
  19. Birdman - 7.5/10 Terrific acting, well written, and superbly shot. Definitely not the best movie I've seen in my life, hence the 7.5, and I probably wouldn't watch it again. That said, it was really well done. Kudos to Keaton.
  20. Seen it once. "Good" is how I remembered it. Probably a 5/10. Wife is out of the house tonight, so going to fire through 2 films: - John Wick - Birdman
  21. As bad as "Forever" was, which is only watchable because of Carrey's portrayal of Riddler, there is no denying that Batman & Robin is, without a doubt, one of the top 3 worst comic book films of all-time.
  22. I'm assuming you didn't put Pee-Wee's Big Adventure on because you've never seen it. It's phenomenal. Also, assuming you left off Batman and Batman Returns because you forgot.
  23. First of all, get out. While I agree with this 100%, this also seems to be the case with most (not all) filmmakers who have lasted as long as Burton has. Their most creative years tend to be when they are younger.
