  1. With the 4th overall pick, the Leafs are happy to not select Sven Baertschi.
  2. I never said you did. What I said was, when you respond to others by being condescending and patronizing, nobody really cares what your opinion might be; not just for you, but anyone that talks like that. People inevitably tune people out when that occurs. You didn’t “hurt” my feelings, I was commenting on how your were responding to others. When someone talks down to me or baits me, I’ll just laugh it off and tell them “to go f**k themselves“, at which point they usually play victim.
  3. You know there’s nothing wrong with reading other reports that claim otherwise, right? And that you don’t have to treat others’ opinion as a joke, or baiting them by saying such condescending things like: This doesn’t help, at all. People tune out immediately and, even if your research/opinion is solid and fine, nobody really cares to take it seriously and have any interest in engaging further. We’re all entitled to have our own opinion. There’s nothing wrong with it. And you are also entitled to keep talking down to people, if you so choose. But don’t be surprised when nobody responds.
  4. May as well do an end of year wrap-up, now. First, despite another awful season, our worst yet, there were positives. First, free agent acquisitions Michel Ouellet and Peter Forsberg produced more than I expected, enough to warrant an extension once the season is over. I will need to ice a full lineup next season while I still wait for my youth to step in. Have several high end prospects in Jarno Siren, Nick Leddy, Jonatan Loow, Dirk Thomas, Bobby Melin, Leos Cinibulk, Leo Courally, Steve Mason, and Conlan Crawford, all of whom will be staples on my team in the next 3-5 years. However, I don’t want to rush any of them, which is why I’ll need to extend players like Bryan McCabe and Peter Forsberg. Another positive was Milan Lucic, after a freshman and sophomore season of 42 points each, he’ll end up finishing the season somewhere in the 45-47 point region. Happy to have the brute on the team. Voinov took a step back in his sophomore season, but that’s not too surprising. A lot has been asked of him on the backend until the rest of my top defensive prospects are ready. Same can be said of Mike Smith. He played as well as can be expected. Everyone else? I don’t know. Ian White will crack 40 points, which is a huge positive. He’ll be deployed on the 1st unit PP indefinitely. Perron seems to take one year off after every good season, but not surprising based on his ceiling. That’s all. Let’s get to the draft so I can fail there, too.
  5. AI taking the Sixers to the Finals is, to me, the equivalent to Hasek taking the Sabres to the Finals. Both teams had no business being in the playoffs, let alone the Finals. Those were two rare cases in time where there really was an "I" in "Team." Both players were the team. Interesting that the same producer of The Last Dance also produced the 2014 documentary on Allen Iverson. I've watched that documentary on Iverson twice now, once 6 years ago, and again last week. That should have been a 2-3 part doc in itself. Man, did that guy have to scratch and claw his way just to get to college. He was this close to never playing basketball again and spending 5 years in prison for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and NOT doing a thing.
  6. Feel like listening to Eagles of Death Metal, today. Been a while.
  7. Some of the jokes in the last season of Community I missed the first time. Britta: My friends think my parents are great, but they weren’t there when they sucked. Frankie: Ah, Jimmy Fallon Syndrome, I get it. Never a truer thing said.
  8. Very true. Everything from Brett Ratner and Bryan Singer would also be considered “unwatchable” then. Then again, X-Men 3: The Last Stand and Bohemian Rhapsody are both already unwatchable.
  9. Got a free 15 minutes. If someone wants to send an offer my way, go for it. Otherwise, I’m shut down for the evening.
  10. Thursday evenings have become quite jam packed for me. So I have less than an hour to talk trade around Forsberg, McCabe, Kubina, Sutherby, Johnson, and Lucic. Afterwards, I’m more difficult to get in touch with. If interested, send an offer. If not, fine.
  11. Those might be the only movies/tv thing I can watch that stars a questionable person in it. That first scene with OJ on the boat is hands down one of the funniest slapstick scenes on film. I really want to go back and rewatch The Cosby Show, but it really doesn’t feel right.
  12. This one below is a classic one for our family. We always do it together when one person does it: Also, this quote from the first movie: Frank (discussing ex-wife): What about the guy, know anything about him? Captain: Not much. Just that he’s an Olympic gymnast and it’s the best sex she’s ever had.
  13. Yeah, very debatable. I like Pippen just fine, and did when he was playing. But in the 90s, aside from Jordan, I'd want any of these players on my team (and who are easily better) than Pippen, who again, wasn't bad, just a tier below: - Robinson - Duncan - Iverson - Payton - Miller - Stockton - Malone - Jordan - Shaq - Barkley - Olajuwon - Kemp - Ewing Again, Pippen was a good second punch. But any of those players on the Bulls with Jordan would have been downright scary.
  14. Had to take a two week break from working legs and limit walking, as well. Leg kept on acting up, even doing simple yardwork. Finally, after 13 days, I was pain free (on Tuesday). So yesterday I ran half a mile and walked 2 more. Everything felt great afterwards. Going to take it easy with no running on concrete. Don't want to do irreversible damage, especially come hockey season in the fall.
  15. Yeah. Goes to show picks in the 20-30 range don't pan out that often. On an unrelated note, open to taking on picks in the 20-30 range that will likely bust.
  16. Was in the middle of CoD Warzone last night with a group of family/colleagues. And the colleague who works in finance said, "I had a Zoom meeting with an ex-Jet this morning. He's black, that's all I'll say." Off the top of my head, I said quickly, "Well, it's not Kane, and it's certainly not Buff, so it's gotta be McArdle." His response was, "Are you the President of his fan club? How did you not only know that, but have that name ready in your brain? lol"
  17. My wife actually hasn't seen any of the Naked Gun movies. Maybe it's time to trot those out.
  18. Really liked Art of Self Defense. So fun.
  19. I’d like to replicate the NHL. This will likely be the only time something like this will ever be done, so emulating it would be cool.
  20. McCabe, Kubina, Forsberg and faceoff machine Brian Sutherby all OTB for picks.
  21. At the end of the day, that's what it comes down to. And nobody who is saying that MJ is better is saying that Lebron sucks, just that in their opinoin, MJ is better. Having watched both their respective careers, again in my opinion, there is no other player when MJ was playing where I'd want anyone else taking that shot. In the last 10-15 years, there are arguably 3-5 other players other than Lebron I'd be just as comfortable taking the last shot over him. Off the top of my head, I'd be equally as comfortable with Leonard, Curry, or Kobe. Again, not that Lebron is bad, but as you mentioned, the gap between Lebron and the rest of the talent in the league is not nearly as nearly as big as it was when MJ was playing. That's not to say MJ played with or against shlubs, just shows how dominant MJ really was.
  22. This could be the year where I finally receive a top 3 pick and really turn the franchise around. Top 5 picks are really great. With that said, one player on my squad continues to rise above the rest. Peter Forsberg continues his greatness on a piss poor roster, where all our young talent (save for Voinov and Perron) are all honing their craft in the minors. With 36 points in 44 games, Forsberg is a gamer, night in and night out.
  23. That was the least surprising thing to me. *Post about any player in the NHL not on the Canucks* CDC Response (pick any of the below): 1. Baertschi buyout/etc 2. Luongo cap recapture penalty 3. Arguing Juolevi was still the the right pick 4. Myers contract is not bad
  24. The rare case of a player leaving the Coyotes and getting worse.
