  1. I excluded the Bond films, even though I enjoy a good portion of them, only because there are some that are downright terrible. And I actually don’t like the Daniel Craig ones (except Casino Royale). The Rocky movies have 8 in the series (if you include Creed films), and I just didn’t like most of those, either. Star Wars movies, as fun as the whole universe is, are mostly flawed. The prequels are baffling and the new trilogy is terrible. Rogue One is saved because of the last 3rd of the film, but I have a hard time rewatching it because the first 2/3rds is boring (to me). I really like Solo, though. Thought about Hannibal Lector, movies. Silence of the Lambs is so good, it almost makes you forget about some of the terrible ones. The first Mad Max really isn’t necessary to watch. But The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome are so much fun. I thought the same thing. I looked at the list and thought, “I’m stressed out just looking at how many there are.” I did think about the Fast and the Furious franchise, because the 5th film really turned it all around. From what I’ve been told, anyway. I haven’t seen 2-4. But 5-8 are really a lot of fun. I also enjoyed Hobbs and Shaw.
  2. As a fun little activity (don’t think it qualifies as an activity actually), thought I’d write down my favourite movie series (must have at least 3 to be a contender). As I was going through all the movies to have at least 3 in them, I quickly realized just how many absolutely terrible franchises there are out there. Man, Hollywood will just milk things until there is no more integrity left in a film franchise. The below ones listed below are, to me, the only ones that, for the most part, are great (even if they have one flop in series): Lord of the Rings: Not including The Hobbit. That can f*** right off The Dark Knight Trilogy The Godfather: 3 is a turd, but it still makes the cut. Indiana Jones: 4 is unwatchable. But 3 out of 4 is terrific. That is, until the make the 5th movie, and then I’ll have to revisit this. Mission Impossible: There is 6 movies in this franchise, and really only 2 is laughably bad, but enjoyable in how bad it is. 3 is a bit of a clunker, but still fun. These movies do get better and better. Harry Potter: As kids movies go, this is a solid series. As much as I find the final 2 movies, and the first movie to be pretty average, the rest make up for them, and then some. Mad Max: Aside from the 1st movie, all are great. And really, the second movie is really start of the series. The first was much like my next series I’ll mention... Evil Dead: Evil Dead 2 is essentially the first movie, just WAY better. Also felt the reboot back in 2013 was incredibly underrated. John Wick: Number 3 was the weakest of the 3 so far (4 coming), but the movies are just so damn fun and ridiculous.
  3. Toronto has initiated sh*t mode sequence.
  4. I am watching soccer. It feels like sports.
  5. Been listening Gil Scott-Heron over the last month.
  6. After starting out better than expected, Toronto now finds themselves on the outside looking in. The lineup we have is a little better than last year, but not by too much. Expect a 10-12th place finish this year. Some positives and negatives through the first 18 games. Positives: Michel Ouellet - 13 points in 18 games, so far he’s proven that last year wasn’t a one off. Peter Forsberg: 13 points, as well. Expected Peter to come in and do exactly what he’s doing. Ian White: 11 points. After an extremely down year last year, Ian is back. Thankfully. Mike Smith: 2.30GAA and .927sv%. The team’s overall record isn’t great, but not because of Mike. He’s been killing it. Negatives: Everyone else.
  7. Spring/summer rocks. 24 degrees, light wind in MB at 6pm right now. Patio, AD (all day!).
  8. Keep the quarantine going. This is awesome!
  9. All we have to do is wait. You have to do the work. So “thank you” for supporting the league and the patience to do all this work. I couldn’t do it. I’m too old.
  10. Noice. Will post overall free agency wrap up later tonight.
  11. Tonight for the wife’s “actual” birthday (always make it a 3 day affair), will be making Pad Thai, and then heading to a friends house for a bonfire (assuming kid gets a nap in this afternoon). Maybe roast more weanies.
  12. One more free agent to go after, and the Leafs are set. A statement of the final lineup will be made once word on said player comes down.
  13. There’s Sutherby! Toronto needs reliable face off guys, and over the last 4 seasons, Brian averages 56.5% on the face off dot. He won’t chip in a lot offensively, but he’ll be on the first unit PK, ensuring we maintain control of the puck during crucial points in the game.
  14. Not this time. The guys I signed were my only offers, aside from one outstanding, depth free agent. Otherwise, none of those guys held any interest to me.
  15. Nice. While still waiting to hear back on one more free agent, pleased to see everyone else I targeted sign. After a killer season last year, David Perron needs a first rate center, after Brad Richards was traded. Peter Forsberg will be our top line center next year, while I wait for Dirk Thomas to develop. Michel Ouellet will also begin the season on the top line, in order to prove that last season wasn’t an anomaly. This will also give our second line of Lucic - Little - Ponikarovsky (LLP Legal Line) the needed balance to take a step forward. Backman, I believe, is an underrated player. The 3 years was a no brainer, considering what he can bring, even on a down season (like last year). But he will be on the top pairing with budding superstar, Slava Voinov. So I’m confident things will look better for him next year. In goal, Manny Fernandez has proven he can handle a starters role, still. And at a mere $1.65M, he will take the weight off of Mike Smith.
  16. Roastin’ weanies with the fam.
  17. No truth to the rumours that Toronto has reached out or has any interest in Pronger, Hejduk, Savard, Backstrom, Turco, or Nabokov.
  18. Birthday coming up on May 25th. Think my present is to make my wife watch the Star Wars prequels. That’ll be fun
  19. Yeah, having been to Minneapolis countless times, it’s not surprising that they are in the running. The total region population of Minneapolis/St Paul is slightly over 4,000,000. It’s a first rate city with more than enough accommodations to handle what is needed for the NHL to resume.
  20. First off, want to bid farewell to prospect Ben Jones. Was hopeful he’d be able to carry forward his junior play, but it wasn’t looking great. And with other prospects I’m higher on, felt he’d get a better chance in free agency with another club. As for the above guys, these are all no brainers. All are decent to downright excellent prospects, particularly Khovanov and Perunovich.
