words like 'dynasty' are a little dramatic. Lets focus on the playoffs first. When we get good at that maybe we can talk about winning a cup. A couple of those, and you can start throwing that word around.

Lots of hurt feelings towards Kesler still (if this thread is of any indication).
I’m honestly over the whole Kesler leaving Vancouver thing. In his prime, Kesler was a beast for us come playoff time. It’s not uncommon for players to request trades if they are no longer happy. Bure did it in the 90’s and we all still love him.
I look forward to hearing this. And yes - since Schneider isn’t doing anything these days, perhaps he can reach an “oral agreement” of some kind with Bieksa and Kesler so that he can make a few appearances on the show.
I (and I would imagine many others) have no problem with him wanting out. It is the way he did it. He took the cowardly way out. During the olympic break he told everyone who would listen that he wanted out. Then when the rumors started swirling he denied. Then he hogtied us by limiting his trade list to (effectively) 1 team, which substantially diminished JBs return on him.

I wasn't super happy with the trade when it happened given JB's prior trades and the fact that the 1st was unprotected in 2020 (potentially). However, it looks great so far. I hope he has a long and successful career with the Canucks and that the pick we gave up doesn't end up being super high.

Canucks have always seemed to have trouble gaining the zone. Last night was a disaster. Fire NB

when i heard Craig Button talk about it he made it sound like the linesman was completely in the wrong. However, watching the video makes me think Kane was moreso. He slashed the linesman and wasn't letting up at all. The linesman does not appear to 'manhandle' Kane, rather, he grabs him and they fall. He brings him back up nicely and Kane pushes him a little too aggressively. Do I think he should have the book thrown at him? No. Do I think it should be fined or suspended? Yes.

Why isn't this thread labelled differently? Baer and Goldy going on waivers should warrant a separate thread or at least a mention in the thread title. I've found this forum is so worried about condensing everything and rushing to be the first thread in that posters don't even originally label or update labels on important threads.. Over the last 15 years, I've gotten in the habit of coming to this forum for news updates. There is rarely any big Canucks news that happens in the T/R/S sub-forum so it frustrates me when I see thread titles like this. '[Waivers] September 30 - 39 Players' doesn't exactly scream "we just cut two notable young roster players"

this is a great thread

Was never a big fan, however, we were division rivals

not stoked on the fact that it is a bridge - potentially forgoing a lot of team control
edit: didnt realize salary was so cheap - take it back - this is a great deal

at least they are playing with the color scheme a bit unlike our stupid obsession with blue and green

He wants a "bridge" deal that will effectively let him make 9-11 million over the next 4 years and go straight to unrestricted free agency. F that. He is riding on the coattails of playing with elite players. In no way does he deserve more than JT or AM. If he wants 11 dollars it had better be long term so they get some value out of it. Otherwise they are better trading him to a team that wants to pay him. The reason he hasn't signed an offer sheet bridge deal with anyone else is cause no team in their right mind would sacrifice 4 firsts for 4 years of team control to a money hungry pipsqueak.

Marner is a whiny lil b who deserves nothing. I would be playing the hardest kind of ball I could with that brat.

No, Stone took a big hit on this deal. He had no requirement to re-sign and could have done so with any other team....
You guys are freaking out over nothing. Flames will also have a cap hit next year on account of the buyout. They are spreading it out over 2 years to minimize it.... perfectly within league rules.

I highly doubt markstrom has a whole lot of trade value unless a team has a goalie or 2 go down long-term and the market tightens up a lot. I feel like Demko would have to really underachieve to not be protected in the expansion draft. Doesn't realy see like there is much of a debate about what to do with either at this point.

MG is extremely overhyped and overrated by some, IMO. I find him arrogant and egotistical. I appreciate that he likes to think outside the box but I just don't think he has much talent at being a GM. I remember him being praised on these boards for asking the Aqs to quadruple the scouting budget. Asking for more money somehow makes you a great GM! His drafting record was terrible to boot.

Derp. Or woosh. Not sure which.
So was Tavares - a 'nice addition' - but still, they got exposed for a serious lack of depth, that has only gotten more serious this summer.
The thing is, you can add one Barrie but if your depth was already lacking, and gets gutted.....folks can fluff and puff away all they want, but the Leafs have a lot of work to do this summer if they want to 'improve' on what they were last year.
Or maybe you are just a bitter Canucks homer who will take any opportunity to take a jab at the Leafs / TSN. Something tells me they will be just fine next year with Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Reilly, and Barrie as their foundational skaters. Problem for them is there are a lot of very talented teams out there. I personally have no problem with the article. I can't pinpoint 1 other Canadian team who improved more. Quantity does not supplant Quality. Barrie on the leafs > Myers, Ferly, and Miller on the Canucks... who I would agree were the team who improved the next most

I do agree that adding Barrie and Ceci (and Harpur) is an improvement over say Gardiner and Zaitsev (and Hainsey). But they might be losing both of these guys the following year. So I guess it's a question of if they've improved for this coming season and for long term. Either way though, not sure how Toronto is ahead of us in terms of "improvement".
Barrie is elite talent. We did not add anyone elite. I despise Toronto homer media as much as anyone else here but I just dont see it in this situation.
