Hutton proved nothing more than he is not able to play Edler's role, at this point, with no real hope for future development into that role. Hughes and OJ are great prospects, but they have played a total of what, 5 games between them?

How do they match? Are you assuming Edler will give them right of first refusal? After July 1st, Edler will be a UFA, the Canucks have no right to match.

I am really curious, who are the the can't miss stars that people want protected from the ED? Given that none of the players drafted last year are exposed, and none of the players drafted this year or next year are either, who are they worried about? Forwards - Boeser, Petterson, Horvat, Virtanen, Gaudette +2 more Defense- Juolevi, Stecher +1 Goal - Demko? I acknowledge that we still have some useful players not noted, but guys like Tanev, Hutton, Beagle etc will be a lot more suspect than they are now in two years. If the Canucks don't sign Edler, they will need two good dmen to be better than last year's defence. Lets replace our 7th or 8th dman with a new number 1 or 2!

No, they have to have signed a pro contract (ie players in Utica are eligible if they are in their 3rd year pro)

Sweatt was okay, Schroeder was fair, and Rodin was an ineffectual perimeter player. No doubt in my mind that 18 year old Jensen and Archibald were better. On d, Sauve looked pretty solid. Erixon had a good first period, then fell apart completely. None of the others impressed in any positive way. Hannay had a decent showing in his fight. Honzik played like a nervous 18 year old. He did make some excellent saves, but let in some real clunkers. Kind of like Luongo, Jr.

He plays with one hand on his stick, the other on the parachute (he is more than a little soft). No way was he good tonight in my eyes. Could be worse though. He could have played like Rai.
