would have been 7-1 if Luongo was still here. . .
-
So in Vancouver's end Kassian gets the only penalty in the scrum but when its in Ottawa's end coincidetals are handed out......
-
You still have to go with Luongo ... He is our number 1 goalie and is just coming back from being a back up in the Olympics. Sitting him in the first game back is just adding more fuel to the fire in the whole Luongo sitation

I just got back from Ocho Rios a few days ago as well.... kinda wishing I stayed down there .

How is it that every game the opposing team gets a puck go in from the blue line through 2 or 3 players yet every time we have pressure our D-man either misses the net or hits the high forward in the shins ? So frustrating to watch

[GDT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Detroit Red Wings 03/02/2014

Edler is the clumsiest D-man ive ever seen.... He just doesnt think out there on so many plays. Lack is amazing -
Another good defensive play by Booth covering for the D-man , breaking the play up and carrying the puck out

http://www.blogtrot....rice-brisebois/ Not sure if this has been posted, but here is Hartley going after someone during an intermission
-
Do you really think McGrattan would have just grabbed a Sedin off the faceoff and started ragdolling him ? Have we ever seen that in the NHL where a goon grabs a star player for no reason ? The closest we've come to seeing that was with Jon Scott and Kessel and Phil provoked that on. And Burrows wasnt taking any precautions when he engaged with Giordano not much later. Why didnt anyone go after Gio for throwing punches at Burrows ?
-
I dont have a problem with the LA game even though we got lucky LA didnt beat us 9-1 with a 7 min PP. There are times to defend your teamates and times to even the bell but against a useless team like Calgary , i dont see it necessary. We arent fighting them for a playoff spot, nothing happened in the 2 previous games that warrented revenge. Like i said, if McGrattan and Westgarth tried going after Booth/Burrows or Kesler then take the extended 5x3 and make them look like idiots.
-
So when LA and Anahiem did it to us at home and beat us both games, that was wrong of them ?
-
Its ok that the Canucks stuck up for themselves but against a team like Calgary it wasnt needed. They are a nothing team and it wasnt worth risking injuries or tiring out the other 4 D-men in a game like this. When Torts seen there starting lineup he should have been chopping his lips and stacked the opening line up with Sedins/Kes or if you are really worried about the twins then put Burrow/Kes/Booth ( some skilled guys ) . You have 3 meatheads who are weak players out there for calgary so take advantage of it and skate around those pylons. If Westgarth/Mgratten still go after our players then go for it and for once we'd have a 7 min PP or an extended 5x3 .

That was a great defensive play by Booth there to take out the Coyote player in the slot with the puck ( was santo's man ) That would have been a shot from the slot uncontested yet somehow those little plays that Booth does goes unnoticed by the fan base and by Torts
-
i dont remember the exact numbers, but hasnt Kesler/Higgens been on the ice for 13 of the last 16 goals against, including all those crucial meltdowns in the last minute ? And im not saying Torts needs to put kesler or the Sedins in the press box for a game, but if he is gonna let players play out of there cold streaks, then I think Booth should get the chance. Everyone knows he can skate fast, has scoring ability and does finish his checks. It makes no sense to not dress him when he could be a valuable player for us.
-
If you look over the 50 threads on CDC about Booth, even fans who dont like him atleast give him credit for having energy and trying to finish his hits. The biggest complaint against him ( besides his religion and hunting ) is that he doesnt score enough. And dont get me wrong, I agree that he hasnt justified his salary since he's been here but much like Ballard, I dont think he's been given a fair chance. His confidence is at an all time low right now so getting 3rd line minutes and knowing that the coach isnt gonna let you play out of the funk, doesnt make it any easier. If the team is gonna buy him out, then send him home so he doesnt get injuried or do it now and stop wasting time on the issue. If they really want to see results with him, then give him some meaningful minutes with top line players.

Read Deb's post ( claiming that Torts will sit players who dont produce ) then read my post ( throwing names out of players THIS SEASON ) of players on our team who havent produced at times yet have been given every opportunity to play out of it. If you want to argue what players have done over there career, then you are in a different argument from what I was talking to Deb about. And from what we've seen Torts from the past ( Brad Richards, Gaborik ) he doesnt care what you've done in the past. If you do want to talk about career stats, Booth was a consistent 20+ goal scorer in Florida and was on pace to score 20+ when he was first traded to Vancouver. If you want him to score 20 goals again then you need to give him ice time and chances on the PP and not stuff him on the 3rd line with no linemates. Higgens hasnt scored 20+ since 07/08 yet he has been given plenty of ice time on the 2nd line and PP.
-
This has been the opposite of what we've seen from Torts..... Kesler was terrible in the first 5, 6 games and instead of benching or sitting him, he was promoted to the first line. When the Sedins get snakebitten, he lets them play out of it . Higgens can be our most useless player out there ( lazy, non productive ) and he gets nothing but praises from Torts and plenty of ice time. Booth, who is playing on the 3rd line with little offensive support gets zero leeway. Our powerplay has been horrible this year yet ive seen very little of Booth out there even when he was playing good. Torts is no different than any other coach, he has his favourites and there are those who will be in the doghouse
-
Ive liked what Torts has done thus far but I dont agree at all how he has dealt with Booth. So many games weve seen Kesler, the twins and Higgens play bad or go games without scoring a point yet they are given the chance to play themselves out of it. When it comes to Booth, he gets benched or is up in the press boxes. Playing a goal scorer on the 3rd line in a non scoring role is not gonna get Booth on his game. When I watch Booth out there , I see someone who is crashing hard to the net and always finishing his checks. He is the first player to be backchecking and covering his D-men when they pinch. I think its a mistake to have him in the press boxes
-
I dont think stamkos should be picked even if he is cleared to play. He has missed way too much playing time leading up to the tourny and his stamina/strength will be too low for what he would need to bring to the team. You cant have him playing on the 3rd/4th line because that isnt a role suited for him, but i dont think he would be ready for top line minutes after missing 3 months of hockey. At this point a 100% healthy Kunitz/Giroux would be more effective than a 75% Stamkos

i dont want to be negative while we are winning and playing a good game, but our coaches really need to start working with Edler. Ive seen about 3 bad giveaways and once where he completely got walked around and was bailed out by Luongo. How long can they continue to turn a blind eye to his mistakes ? -
Must have been Booth again....... He is the problem to everything
-
Hopefully Torts sends a message to Booth, because its clearly his fault again . . .
-
it was a close fight... while GSP looks more beat up, his face is very prone to looking like that. His last number of fights, he has looked horrible after the fight yet he dominated his opponent. I rewatched that first round again but turned the volume off so i wasnt getting swayed by Joe Rogan and i can see how that fight could go either way. I like Dana White and how honest he is, but he needs to take a few minutes to calm down before going out on a live presser and going off on the officiating and on GSP. Funny how quick he silenced himself when GSP showed up half way through.

So my friend and I had another religious discussion

Ive tried making this point before as well..... scientific theories are always changing with new information. Things that we think we "know" now will probably look pretty silly for people in the future because we are always getting new information. Every scientist will admit that nothing is ever 100% sure in science . . .
