PP was 50% PK was 100% Demko was solid and Petey scored. We win. What more can a Canuck fan dream of? #firegmjb #firegreen -
[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Boston Bruins | Nov. 28, 2021
Spoosh replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
First time in nearly... well over 25 years as a fan of this team that I was hoping the opposition would win - and it being the Bruins of them all. Just to so that the owner at his point, would have to make the moves that need to be made in the front office. I feel terrible for letting my team down like that. So should the management, coaching staff and the players. -
[Discussion] Kane, Evander @50% do we want him ?
Spoosh replied to MaxVerstappen33's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Never been a fan of him so with the baggage he’d bring now, no-no. -
Not just because he is now, I guess, available. But he is the only one I immediately feel could be a good fit here as GM and that would be the logical way to go about this. Start with the GM and let him find a caoch that fits. It would be my preference even if it was someone else than Mellanby. Changing the coach now and the GM at the end of the year would be a strange move any way you look at it. Remove Jim Benning and Travis Green, and include Nolan Baumgartner - now. Promote Shaw as interim coach. (I actually don’t have that much hate or anger towards either Jim or Travis, the just won’t get the job done well enough.) This gives enough time for Mellanby to evaluate things and give the team another go with Shaw. They can and look at who can find their game and see if someone still slumping. Then they can make more of a proper and informed decision at the trade deadline and maximize the return. None of our players’ value will drop between now and TDL so we are in no hurry to move any of them at this time. We have a pretty decent team but with no direction, and that will change with the right guidance.

Coaching change would give us a look at our roster under a different bench boss and show us waht we got. Moving Boeser now vs moving him in a month or two makes no difference. His value will be the same anyways. Moving Miller might not be a move fans like but his value in a trade is at an all-time high right now. That might change if things get worse here. I don’t see the value in moving Bo now or later. He is a very valuable part of this team in so many ways (even when you look at it without emotions as a fan of the team)

[Hypothetical] Who should replace Travis Green?
Spoosh replied to Ilya Mikheyev's topic in Canucks Talk
I don’t like the interim coach -tag on anyone. We need to look at out options and make a move if we want to even have a chance going forward. The issue in my mind are (and have been) King and Baumer. But no good will come from changing the help and keeping Travis. And same goes the other way around. We need a total change. Brad Shaw is the one guy on the bench that I’d like to see keeping his job at this point. But then again I have no clue as to how they are going to turn this around. Looks so dreadful at the moment. -

I’m not pinning this on Green or the staff entirely. The issues are on the ice as much as anywhere. But we definitely need a change and we can’t change the whole on-ice product. Benning might be the guy everyone hates i Vancouver but he has in my opinion put together a roster that should be able to compete now so I don’t look at this current problem as his doing as much as in the past. This is the best team we’ve had so far but it hasn’t worked out. The players need to reset big time and start playing a full 60 minute game and what we need is a new voice in the room. -

Just what the doctor ordered. -
Exactly. When you put the thing up there in numbers it might look like a mismatch but when a person with legitimate authority tells you he/she can ruin ones career or dream if you don’t comply, that size makes no difference at all. And at 20 you are still young and controllabe to a degree. Most people, lets say 30+, would agree that they were not nearly as strong mentally in their early 20’s as they are now with the knowledge and experience they had.

I feel the corrections and changes should be in the front office(s). Quenneville, Cheveldayoff, Fehr and others that had proper authority to change things at the time and deliberately shewpt it under the rug. It’s embarrassing how Chicago players have responded so far via the media, and some individuals might have had an outside chance to make a difference at the time. But in reality, it took A LOT of effort, time (and with it a culture of acceptance that wasn’t there as much in 2010) and a number of different scenarios took place over the years for this to materialize the way it has. Toews, Kane and Keith etc have been mentioned here and people wish they should be punished all the same. I feel like they and so many others maybe could have said something, but I feel it would have been dismissed by the men in charge anyways. The blame should fall on the guys covering it up and letting it continue, not so much on the players. They all now have to live with the fact they could at least have said something and didn’t. That alone is a lot too.

I think with John Doe now having a name and face and showing emotion, telling things the way they are - in public, it will force their hand a bit. I doubt Florida or anyone else wants to touch this topic if they can avoid it. He’ll have his hearing and then move on from the team. If not, the Panthers great season will soon be forgotten as they will be booed eveywhere from fans at the games to every media outlet you can find.
-
That was impressive and… I don’t have a word respectfull enough to thank and salute Kyle Beach on what he just did coming out with all that. I respect that a lot! This will definitely spark a major change in the league and the NHLPA as well as minor league and youth hockey. Many didn’t even know they needed this specific coming change but everyone will welcome it with open arms. Donald Fehr, Kevin Cheveldayoff and Joel Quenneville will be out of a job by the end of the month be it fair or not. All 32 teams and the NHLPA will want to distance themselves from this and them as quickly as possible.
-
I think firing would have been in order for Bowman in Chicago as he was still there, not stepping aside & out. But I think Chevy and Quenneville will be stepping down shortly as teams want to distance themselves from this discussion as soon as possible. It is already inserting the Panthers and Jets organizations into every article and discussion about this topic. Chevy will not be a big issue or loss imo but Florida with the start they are having, will not benefit from this one no matter what they do.

That was one loud game! Looked bad for a while there and I wasnt sure we’d find a way to come back but Bo led his team and gave us life. I’d like to see Podkolzin back in the line-up and when we get Motte back we’ll have a more entertaining and buzzing bottom-6. I don’t even wanna like Burroughs but his play is slowly growing on me. -

Well that was a horrible game by the team. I always try to see the positives but there was just about nothing good to say. First 10-15 minutes was good but that’s it. Pettersson line did nothing. Dickinson looked off again. I have high hopes for him to be solid but so far it hasn’t been the case. Hunt? Was he on the ice? And looked like Poolman played forward more than d. LOL at Canucks being just about last in faceoffs. Not what we were expecting coming into the season. That was supposed to be our strength early on. -

What on earth is Zadina going on about? Garland was gonna play the puck regardless, Garland was gonna hit Zadina regardless. Garland had his back to Zadina while playing the puck and Zadina as the only one with eyes on the situation put his head down even when he saw the hit coming a mile away. Things happen fast but he knows his head hit the numbers so why cry about it after the game. I can understand heated feeling in the moment on the ice but afterwards with a situation clear as daylight. Jeez. Other than that, good looks but Greiss was a wall. PP needs to execute and my lord, reffing at the highest level simply cannot be that difficult! 3rd period vs Philly was tough to swallow but this was even worse. Both ways. Calls were off by a coutry mile, soft ones called and proper ones missed all game. Sidenote, do you have to be toothless to play for the Wings? Not many seem to have a full set. -
[Report] Flyers claim Zack MacEwen off waivers
Spoosh replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Oh well. Too bad but not too bad. I hope he gets a shot to play there. Canucks depth is regarded with much affection it seems. Surprising to many CDC memebers? -
Has anyone got anything positive to say to start the year btw? Weak d, AHL roster, spotty lineup, Jim making bad choices, TG making even worse choices, zero pushback… this will definitely be a season lost by CDC standards..? Nevermind. I’m excited!

I just hope they add this vaccination rule to the new NHL22 so the game can automatically suspend your player if not vaccinated when teams cross the border in be a player. #augmentedreality
