  1. No doubt there is a plan in place there and Guerin is most likely on top on the situation. He and his team has options and variations planned, worst case scenarios anticipated etc but to the outside world… boy, that Wild team looks like a complete catastrophe right now. How can one unsigned 24 yo rookie make such a mess there (not him personally but the situation) and how can anyone justify the moves they made to an owner? I’m sure it was agreed on beforehand but that was a brutal move and now they need to sign another player to a ridiculous amount just to keep him there for a few years. Alexei Yashin and the fiasco on Long Island is to me the worst example of handling a similar situation. Without fact checking I think the Islanders were on the hook for his salary for like a decade or something. This time the Wild does this with two players and handicap the team for almost a decade too. Even if they can be successful they still removed any flexibility to be even better for the next 8 years. And as a bonus they might lose the calder -winning rookie for nothing.
  2. I feel like I have some (very little but still some) insight on players from Finland but Kuokkanen came up outta nowhere for me and took a spot all of a sudden in NJ. I hope he does well on the new look Devils. It’s been a while since New Jersey has iced a team I’d be interested in even a little.
  3. Maybe that can be discussed in the Poolman -thread
  4. 101 pages and still going… any love in sight for Tucker Poolman yet…?
  5. I’ve not been the biggest fan of Brandon at any point. But at this time and where we are as a team, I feel that he fits in pretty well. At first I was hoping we would go in a different direction but ultimately this does feel like the right move right now. We have some quality depth at C and options as JB and Travis Green often talk about. Quality options in my view even if I’m wearing my Canucks-glasses 24/7 when I look at things. His past history of injuries is what concerns me the most. Not his abilities or contract etc. If he can stay healthy for the year it would be one of the better contracts signed this offseason.
  6. Gotta say that this was one of the most informative and positive thteads I’ve read here in a while. Thanks to everyone who have contributed to this so far.
  7. I hope not I for one am excited to see Poolman and the other new faces on the ice and I’ll give my, possibly critical opinion of the signing after next season - if at all. With OEL, Hughes, Myers and Hamonic quite clearly ahead of him in the line-up at this point on paper, I expect him to be solid in his role on the 3rd pairing with Juolevi, Rathbone or Schenn.
  8. Slow day at the office. But at least we can talk about this
  9. Not bad at all. If the Avs had a #1 goalie I’d say they would be my bet to win the cup next year.
  10. I think we must. If not, he is definitely in the wrong line of business.
  11. The Great One, The Magnificent One, The Next One, The Special One… and the Future… consideration.
  12. GMJB got out GM’d by… what do I know. We could easily have agreed to give up a first for all we know
  13. Future considerations is a beauty of the NHL today (again). We definitely need some depth on that front so thumbs up all the way.
  14. Totally close to being off-topic but when someone says that I always think of Bure-Odjick. Mismatch in every way possible but closer than any of us can imagine.
  15. Figures as Detroit is so deep into a rebuild. Could probably have had a 5-6 year deal as well if he really wanted.
  16. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/nick-ritchie-vie-top-six-role-maple-leafs/ True I feel a bit sore @ my behind from all the nonsense on SN and TSN about how we were so bad on day 1 and how tough it will be with OEL etc. D+ was like the best review we got. But THEN SN says Ritchie is a top-6 candidate on the Leafs like he is Connor McDavid or something. I know the Leafs are the crown jewel but c’mon I can’t take it!

  18. The guy has some potential still. Hope he has a healthy and productive year this time.
  19. I could see OEL - Myers taking on the heavies duties and toughest opponents. Hughes and Hamonic the next wave on tougher opposition. Schenn, Juolevi and Rathbone maybe a bit easier tasks. At least to start the year.
  20. This thread is proving that the time for my summer hiatus from CDC is closing in. All relevant discussion has by the looks of it been finalized and what’s left is insult after another on fellow fans. You reading this - don’t take it personally. It has been like this here for over 15 years but it feels just as silly every year. It starts 2-3 days after UFA begins and stays that eay until camp.
  21. I think this was Arizona’s best trade / move in many years. Absolute steal and a pure hockeydeal, which we don’t see in AZ too often.
  22. I guess Jarmo just figured someone has been sitting on his hat or something
  23. Respect. He made quite the career and has the chance to play some hockey back home, healty and out of his own choice. Gotta love that.
