  2. I have to be honest and say I had almost given up on Jensen even becoming an NHL player. I have to admit I was wrong, even if it's still early days for him. Good job! Oh, and hats of for Eddie Lack too!
  3. I would like to see this Tortorella experiment through and not quit on him now. But what I have had a tough time getting a grasp on is how the used the players he had during the first half of the season. Playing the three top lines all the time and giving the 4th zero chance to prove itself. Ever since giving them a fair shot, they've been looking good and actually playing better than I myself even expected. While the other three lines have been over-used, exhausted and injured way too often. Just because you aren't sure how your bottom 6 players would work doesn't mean you should bench them just in case. He obviously learned the lesson there, just a bit too late...
  4. No way that just happened... absolutely no way!?
  5. Either Mike Gillis, John Tortorella & veterans like Burrows, Kesler, Bieksa need to go as a part of a facelift, or then we go forward with 'the plan' as is. No point in changing coach now, as we either pull ourselves together and make a final push, and we regroup during the summer and give it another go next fall with a healthy line-up & Torts behind the bench. The other move is for the organization to let Gillis walk and find a new leader. And with that package a new system, staff and full youth movement, moving the 2011 crew for good young stars. If it came down to this, personally, I would have done that big fire-sale now at the deadline and maximized the return from stars like Kesler and Edler. I feel the return would have been greater when teams make a final push and tend to overpay. Draft day is a more calculative moment and no team is under tremendous stress to make bold moves. So I would rather see us give it a good shot with Torts and a healthy team than give up after only 8 months... The offensive players need need to change a bit though...
  6. I wish (and believe) that his return 'home' will increase the attendance for the games in Florida. If they can sign 1-2 significant pieces in the summer, it will actually be very interesting to watch how they perform next year with Barkov back and more mature, Huberdeau & co... I'm really happy for both Luongo and the Panthers organization for this move.
  7. At least we'll see some of the young guys play more towards the end of the season...
  8. Lets light up this newcomer goalie they have... Thomas was it...? Where did this old fart come from?
  9. Whereas the trade should have been done long ago, Gillis is not the only one to blame. NTC says hello, even if he was in on that too, Lui could just have waived it completely if he really just wanted to leave and give the team the best possible deal - as he clearly already got from the team in the first place. CBA, Cap, Luongo, Vancouver and the market were all factors that dragged this deal along. No hard feelings one way or the other from me. Luongo has been my favorite player for a decade now, and will have a special place in the future as well. On a sidenote, our goaltending depth is pretty swede Läck, Markström, Eriksson... A bit scary, but promising. I have faith. Join in.
  10. Holy bananas! It happened. And everyone is furious at MG? Wasn't this just what both parties have been searching for all along? It dragged on, but not for no reason. He was virtually untradeable with than contract. Last summer/deadline Florida wasn't prepared to give up X amount of stuff and MG wasn't ready to make that move + pay for his salary. With how things have escalated, both had to give some to get some. Lui had to come back and work & GMMG had to make a deal not picture perfect, as his player was so difficult to move. Without an NTC Mike would have traded Luongo over a year ago... Lui was as much to blame. Not that I blame either one. I think the return was fair considering the circumstances. Just sad to see him go. My favorite player for almost a decade. I've got a very positive feeling about Lack, the verdict on Markström is still out there... With how this played out, Schneider went for way too little return. But I think that goes without saying. PS Now I'm pretty much certain that both Edler and Kesler are moving on tomorrow. This is going to be exciting... for a day. Then it's going to be tough for a really long time, when our kids go to work and become stars. It'll take a while.
  11. Even if I was originally strongly against trading Kesler, and even Edler, it in fact now sounds quite intriguing... The downside of losing one of our best and most productive players is huge. With that, and everything else he brings to the team. But then again, what we could acquire here is exciting as f**k, to put it gently. Brayden Schenn would be a very solid return, and possible 1st rounder and prospect would make it worth the risk. We've tried it this way for years, and a big shakedown is in order. There doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel unless we make some bold moves. Henrik and Daniel are obviously staying, witch is good. Their effort and contributions will be there next year, no doubt. Kesler is a great player and one of my favorites, but it feels the current core has come to the end of the road. I've had faith in Burrows regaining form, but I'm doubtful it will happen this year, with everything he's been through. If we go all in, trade Luongo (witch I'm not yet sure is the right move), Kesler, Edler and possibly even Burrows, it would mean all the bad blood of 2011 (not a negative thing) would pretty much be away. It might also change the general attitude towards our team, refereeing even (?) and make our team considerably much younger in the process. It's obviously a dream, but that would be something. Booth will be gone by the end of the summer anyways. And with the return we'd get for those guys it would be a pretty full line-up next fall without having to overpay millions and millions on July 5th. New core and stuff. This is why I'm okay with parting with Kesler.
  12. Done. Just really, really doubt they would let go of a gem like Määttä.
  13. Lack doesn't look as stellar tonight as I would have hoped. Two goals and two posts already in the first. Too many gone past in one period...
  14. Well that was great. It would have gone past the net there... hindsight is loads of fun...
  15. Why sign the twins and then trade the one steady piece in Kesler...? Makes no sense. Edler I can understand if we want to improve our offense, but not Kes...
  16. Impressive playing by Canada! Pretty sweet to only let in 3 goals overall. Even though I had expected them to be such more dangerous up front as usual. But gotta say the best team won in the end. Even if I criticized Canada for not being as dangerous as they should be before the game. They always came through when it mattered. Great job! And great that Luongo & Hammer got the golden medals to come home with.
  17. Coz it's better than nothing. It' easy to not have anything to go home with if you don't give it your all. I was really, really down last night because of the chance lost when we lost to Sweden. But this makes up for it a bit. And to see the happy faces instead of nothing. At least now a bronze won feels better than an early exit or humiliation in the final game, cuz player didn't show up... The team will be highlighted by fellas like Mikael Granlund, captain Mikko Koivu, Tuukka Rask, Alexander Barkov, Rasmus Ristolainen, Sami Vatanen, Olli Määttä, Leo Komarov, Jarkko Immonen, Lauri Korpikoski and hopefully someones like Antti Raanta.
  18. Sami Salo was crying, Kimmo Timonen was crying a bit... even the interviewer Kaj Kunnas was crying when he was talking to Teemu... All of wich will end their careers on the international stage now. Touching like no other. Only if it were gold... That would really have been something.
  19. Teemu is holding back tears in the interview... Final game for Team Finland...
