  1. I’ve watched this dumpster fire for so many years - I may legitimately have no heart. And I’m reaaallly enjoying this.
  2. It’s a weird moment to be complaining about our powerplay but it bugs me how much it feels like pulling teeth for Petey to take a shot on the PP, whereas Hughes just rips his muffin every chance he gets. I’d like the coaches to show them both their career shooting percentages and ensure Quinn starts to defer to Petey - and ensure Petey shoots twice as much on the PP
  3. I know, right? Except isn’t that exactly what Benning did?
  4. Well, and there may have also been some questionable facial expressions
  5. Agreed. That said, history being 20/20 and all, I didn’t want to lose Tanev, but I also would have guessed that 50% injury time would have been likely.
  6. they said last night that Calgary is looking for a forward - I'd give them almost any winger for Tanev back
  7. What?! Of course it was. Are you saying the rebuild only produced WCE but not Sedin era? I also don’t want a rebuild, but honestly that’s what a real scorched earth rebuild could do - rebuild for two generations.
  8. 100% looking at these numbers I think ‘that’s pretty great for an old guy that makes almost nothing”. but that’s pretty great for almost any nhl defenceman at any price
  9. This is ridiculous - if they need someone steady for Myers, Brisebois did a fine job and Burroughs is literally right there. How does it make sense to take our singular steady RHD and move him away from both Hughes and/or OEL?
  10. Yup - if we’ve seen anything from Bo over the years it’s his slimy scammy character. Or maybe he does better when he doesn’t have a carousel of third line wingers all season.
  11. Apparently leaf land is in meltdown and one of the “this core is stale” solutions being floated is: Toronto: Horvat Garland Vancouver: Marner
  12. I would absolutely lose my mind if they traded Rathbone for that. That’s not what this is though. To your point, the trade is likely inconsequential. But there is an outside chance that Myrenberg could become a good nhl’er. He had a great camp and is trending upward, is big and can skate. Whereas Strudnicka’s star seems to have arced downward in Boston. I don’t like giving up Myrenberg, but what this probably does is solidify Miller, Bo and Petey all in the top 6. Last year they tried to space them out just like this year. I was fully behind that plan both times, but both times it didn’t work in the W column.
  13. Fair enough, I’d like to see that too. But you’ve set up a dichotomy where this minor move is either awful and backwards or season altering. it could also be somewhere in between where it’s a great move that makes us incrementally better. Or even a just-ok move that hardly moves the needle. Which is what it probably is, but I’m hopeful for the former.
  14. Agreed, but just in terms of pure heart. 2011 is more skilled, so if you add the heart and passion of a non-injured Kesler 2011 Canucks win the cup and beat 94.
  15. I’ve always found this to be a funny way of looking at 0.500 It’s a hold over from when a tie counted as one point and wasn’t added into consideration of wins losses. But if a team were to go 0 wins in a whole season and went 0 - 0 - 82 they’re still a 0.500 team.
  16. So what do we get - just the cap space? Or with his recent play, do we have to add?
  17. She turned me into a newt .... it got better
  18. to be fair, that's what they did last year to start winning games. i like the three big C approach, but it hasn't seemed to work either year. at this point I'd rather them load up two lines real good.
  19. That's a nice looking second powerplay group - except for getting beat clean off every faceoff.
  20. If you believe you know the definition of insanity, you may be surprised to learn the definition of definition.
