  1. Really? That's the best you can do? On 10/3/2022 the Canucks had played one game, losing to Edmonton 5-3. JT Miller had one goal and one assist in the loss. So that's sucking a$$?
  2. I kind of think that Darryl Sutter has destroyed Huberdeau. I think that Sutter has been the biggest problem in Calgary all season. I am therefore hopeful that he is extended for another five years.
  3. In the short term, sure they could give him a game or two. What I am talking about is beyond this year. I wouldn't sign him with the assurance that he'll be in the starting lineup next season. If he earns it, sure, but I wouldn't make promises that I might not be able to keep. And the player would have to understand up front that there are no guarantees. Whoever signs him will be the team that offers him the shortest path to a regular roster spot. I don't think that is Vancouver.
  4. Not really. He's likely getting offers from most of the teams in the NHL. Some of them will be able to offer him assurances of a roster spot and ice time that Vancouver can't or won't offer. I would rather the Canucks pass on a guy than guarantee him a spot on the NHL roster. And, in the final analysis, if he doesn't want to be here, we don't want him.
  5. We people are always happy when our team wins. Always. You, on the other hand, would rather wallow in misery. Go for it. Wallow away.
  6. Seriously, I really hope he can bounce back. He going to have to, since there doesn't appear to be any way Vancouver can move him. May as well make the best of it.
  7. I assume you mean Bieksa. So my question would be, why would he give up a once-a-week gig with national exposure to be second banana on regional broadcasts, and with no Ron, Elliotte or Jennifer to rag on?
  8. Last year Rathbone was the go-to offensive defender in Abbotsford. This year he was beaten out of that position by Wolanin. Rathbone's greatest challenge is staying healthy long enough to put a solid streak of games together. It will be cool to see Rathbone and McDonough in the same lineup.
  9. Dhaliwal is ALWAYS on the phone to agents or contacts around the league. He has always been willing to ask direct questions and his information has pretty much been rock solid. I listen to or read pretty much everybody who covers the Canucks. I always rely on Dhaliwal's reports and he is accurate far more than any other local commentator. I am interested how you arrived at the conclusion that his sources are the voices inside his head. Do you have special knowledge that the rest of us don't?
  10. I liked him from the first game I saw him play. Really good along the boards and goes to the tough areas. Good skater and can chip in a goal here and there. Chalk one up for the Canucks pro scouting group. They got Joshua right.
  11. March 22/23 Sad to hear that OEL won't be back this season. Those high ankle sprains are really difficult injuries to rehab. I hope he has a great summer and can be a solid contributor next season. I think we have to hope for the best since it seems almost impossible to trade him. If they can find the correct right side defenceman to pair with him, I believe he can be a reliable piece. In other words, he's going to be here, so we'd better make the best of it.
  12. Has one goal and one assist in past ten games. Five goals and four assists in 19 games since the trade. Eight more years at $8.5M AAV. Eight. More. Years.
  13. I think you are dead wrong. I think most fans love it when the Canucks win. Winning is the whole point, don't you think?
  14. No, it isn't. The goal is winning. Why is that so hard for you to grasp?
  15. No you're not. You'll weigh in every game from here to the end of the season. It's what you do.
  16. Are you one of those anti-vaxxers that flock to highway overpasses in Abbotsford every weekend with flags and placards with cool slogans like "Remember Nuremberg" or the always popular "F*** Trudeau"? Because if you are, it's Saturday and there's still space on the McCallum and Clearbrook overpasses. Better hurry, democracy depends on you ranting and raving about how your freedoms are so like the treatment of the Jews in wartime Europe.
  17. Respectfully disagree. His numbers are good but not outstanding and he was a great leader and all-round good player. But as Ray Ferraro has often said, "It's a Hall of Fame, not the Hall of the Really Good". Now if you are talking the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, then he's a lock.
  18. So have you reached the age where old junk becomes antique? Again, I kid.
  19. To quote David Niven when a streaker ran across the stage at the 1974 Oscars: "Isn't is fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off his clothes and showing his shortcomings? I kid, I kid....
  20. Alf. Buddy. Step away from the computer. Put the cork back in the bottle. Go to bed. We'll tell you what happened sometime tomorrow.
  21. Have you looked at the numbers? He'd be paid $19.33 million over eight years. That's cash out of the owners' pocket. Not only that, but a buyout costs the team $20.5 million in DEAD CAP SPACE. In the short term (two years) there is an attractive amount of recovered cap space, but for the last six years there is zero benefit for the Canucks, and in fact they are paying twice, in real dollars and in dead cap space. The only real alternative is to keep him for at least one more season, after which the buyout becomes slightly more manageable, or for two seasons and it becomes very doable. 22. Absolutely. Maybe we should ask the mods to create a "All Things Tank" thread for the whiners who continually piss and moan whenever the Canucks dare to win a game and upset the master plan of getting a better position in the draft. Right now, Vancouver is seeded 8th with a 6% chance of winning the lottery. If they get bumped to 10th, they'd have a 3.5% chance. If they managed to tank harder and finish as 5th seed, they'd have a 8.5% chance. I'm going to go way out on a limb here, but whether they are seeded 5th or 10th, the odds are slim. So, if they go crazy and move up the standings, and down the draft seedings, I really don't care. I like it when my team wins and don't like it when they lose. If you hope for them to lose, you aren't a fan.
  23. You are not wrong. Brisebois has always worked hard at his game and it looks like it is paying off for him. He plays with poise and is positionally sound. He looks like he belongs.
  24. He has really come into his own with the departure of Horvat. He seems more focussed and less erratic. I'm sure Tocchet has had a great influence on JT. Overall, I really like the idea of no captain and four alternates. That way each of the four can take a turn being spokesman and nobody feels the added pressure of having to answer every question.
