Good post... what MG said is just enough to think Cody is a valued member of our prospect pool that's it...it doesn't mean that Toronto is call MG everyday for the kid, so get over this whole idea of trying to spin every single new piece of garbage that is brought up by anyone in the organization regarding Hodgson, cause it's all bs! He is going to be just like Schroeder come camp and they can both show their $hit and shut you idiots up.
-
I wonder if Schroeder doesn't play for Team USA if Canuck management would bring him in to practise with the Canucks right now?....although is that legal if he is just on a ATO with the Moose for this season?
-
I think he is on a ATO right now and isn't actually having any of his pro contract time getting eat up yet....not 100% for sure though. According to CapGeek.com his contract doesn't kick in until next season...... START YEAR: 2010 END YEAR: 2013 TYPE: ENTRY LEVEL EXPIRY STATUS: RFA SEASON TYPE AHL SALARY SALARY BONUSES CAP HIT 2010-2011 TWO-WAY $67,500 $900,000 $125,000 $1,025,000 2011-2012 TWO-WAY $67,500 $900,000 $125,000 $1,025,000 2012-2013 TWO-WAY $67,500 $900,000 $125,000 $1,025,000

Totally agree.... But what makes me scratch my head is what we are going to do in three or so years when we have the Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, Raymond, Grabner, Hodgson, and Schroeder all more than capable (hopefully) of being top 6 guys. I know it is a nice problem to have, but I wonder who will be on the outside looking in....

I didn't know this before, thanks for clarification avelanch....happy that will give some more time this season in the AHL for Schroeder and others.
-
Schroeder with a PPG in a half dozen contests thus far with the Moose is quite encouraging. Checking the standings up to date following last night's games, Manitoba is two points out of a playoff spot, and wouldn't that suck balls if they missed...I was really looking forward to having Schroeder and Hodgson get some quality time in the AHL playoffs. I wonder if they will get called up and practise with the Canucks.

Anybody get to watch the game? Pumped that Jordan got 2 goal in his opener!...but wanted to see how he looked on the ice otherwise.
-
Hey Zamboni_14 -- cheers for the home state info on Jordan you provided us with this year! hope he turns into a great pro for our organization in the coming years...it should be interesting to see what will happen with such a perennial great hockey program which looks like it is gradually going down the $hitter.... Also, being a Minny resident, do you know much about some upcoming eligible draftees like Brock Nelson, Nick Bjustad, or other projected early round picks from the Twin Cities area? From what I have read about Nelson, he has the potential to be a solid power forward.
-
So with the Gophers absolutely sharting the bed this year, is it still a foregone conclusion that Jordan goes back for two more years? Or even one more year? I understand that U of M is a school that has a huge tradition and for a Minny native like Schroeder it would mean a lot to stay there, but I hope to hell he starts thinking about what's best for his hockey career and not just staying at that hole of a hockey program right now. I know it probably won't happen, but I hope to never see JS wearing a Gophers jersey after this season wraps up in the next couple weeks.

After watching that video I am ABSOLUTELY JACKED for the draft this year! Really excited to see what Gillis can do in later rounds too considering this will be his 2nd draft where he has managed the scouting staff for an entire year leading up to the draft, although he did quite well getting Cody in his first draft with about 6 weeks to prepare if that? Also hope we can somehow get a 2nd round pick to account for a pick given up for Bernier.
-
To be fair we got him as a steal at 22nd BECAUSE HE IS SMALL! If he didn't have this size issue then we wouldn't have got him at all, so I don't really care that he isn't going to grow past 5'9" because I never expected him to...that being said he can still be a good top 6 guy for us for at least a 10 year period barring no significant injuries. What I find to be very interesting is the situation which will unfold over the next 2-4 years having H. Sedin, Kesler, Schroeder and Hodgson, all of whom I think in 3-4 years time should be legit top 2 centers. I know the Sedins have about 5 years left from now, but I am excited to see what coaching staff and Gillis do with the 2 young guys until about 2014. I know it would be a good transition for Hodgy and Schroeder to play a 3rd line centerman's minutes to adjust to the NHL, but if one doesn't play wing then where does the odd man out fit? I understand that Kesler is a heart and soul player but would Gillis ever consider trading him in 3-4 years with other emerging and likely more naturally talented guys to play up the middle challenging for those top 2 spots? Just a thought I guess.

^^^^Did you get to watch the game?

Holy F! MINNESOTA LOSES 6-0 TO THE WOLVERINES! Needless to say no points for Schroeder... It is ridiculous how much this Gopher team is playing like absolute garbage this year! I know Schroeder is a huge fan of the U of Minnesota tradition, but I really hope he doesn't stick around after this year...this school's hockey program seems like it is taking a nosedive after producing some great young players.

ONE GOAL AND ONE ASSIST FOR SCHROEDER TONIGHT! Good to see some consistent finishing from Schroeder now. No points for Pat White or Taylor Matson.
-
Why would you say they don't have plans to sign him? I might be a stone cold idiot but if White turns it on this year and next, Doug Wilson would have to be a complete moron to not sign the kid would he not?
-
I was thinking the same, but he only has one year on Schroeder, and although they really are two different players, Schroeder has been hyped up a lot more IMO than White ever was. I just have this crapty feeling that White could put up 35pts and 15-20 goals this year...good for him, but I would be choked!...although I would still make that trade anyday with SJ to get Erhoff - that guy is a stud on our back end and has some potential to still unlock.
-
1 Assist for Schroeder tonight in another losing cause for the Gophers.... 1 Goal for our former glory boy White

I love how this thread about Schroeder has completely turned into Rey's lovefest for other human beings and the rest of us trying to attain a degree of appropriate intelligence just so Rey's brilliant mind can interpret how normal, less educated people talk to one another on a day to day basis. Good work above WillMit! On a totally and completely unrelated note, I am jacked for the Gophers game today! Hopefully they can rip it up again and would be nice to see Schroeder get a gino.
-
HAHA, good call dude! Love it! On a side note, I think The 40 Year Old Virgin Rey just needs to get laid already, wouldn't have so much stress over something that should really mean a lot less in life than he is making it out to be.

HOLY SH!T BUDDY!...take some of your imaginary girlfriend's midol, good god almighty! I merely wanted to point out what I didn't like about college hockey development for prospects, then you take an injection in the a$$ and turn into Mike Milbury on steroids.
-
Gillis didn't publicly mention that Schroeder should leave college, but I believe it was a solid option to better Jordan's development. Not basing my opinion on the Gopher's 0-4 start, or the fact that JS has no points in 4 games, but I would have much rather seen him take the path that Connauton is taking and leave the collegiate level for a more aggressive, in your face, rough tough game that is played in the WHL. It would give him a better taste, especially at his size, of what he is going to have to do to compete against bigger boys that can rattle your cage a lot better than can be done in college....but I for one am not a fan at all of the college ranks or development level for men's hockey.

Burrows has worked his arse off to become an NHL regular. If that hard work and determination doesn't fit under the MG Character column then I don't know what does. So my hat goes off to Burrows. He is a great checking line winger who plays that kind of Ruutu/Cooke role which we have open this year. On the other hand, I think with all of the grit/toughness that Hordi, Rypien, and even Brown can bring up front, I would much rather them play and be able to back up their actions as opposed to Burrows running his mouth in french tongues which make no sense and not be able to have a respectable fight when he pisses another guy off. When I used to play hockey and I had a player on my own team run his mouth then another guy would have to come in and back him up because he couldn't protect himself - it was downright embarrassing. I would sometimes feel the same way if I was Burrows teammate.
