  1. Regarding NHL twitter rules: Since various NHL teams such as the Kings are using twitter to troll other teams' fanbases, it's safe to say that the NHL has a relatively open policy with regards to tweets. Doubtful they'd have a problem with Luongo's tweets. Gillis has already said he has no problem with Luongo's twitter account. They both laugh about it.
  2. Strombone ‏@strombone120 Eat your heart out Mariah Carey.
  3. Frankly, i don't want to watch our games on CBC anyway. They just don't effectively represent this market. Just give all Canuck games, including playoffs, to SPac.
  4. Oblivion was good, yes. Good Tom Cruise sci-fi. Not nearly as good as Minority Report, but solid. 7/10 Killing Season, starring DeNiro and Travolta, had a decent enough premise, similar to other one-on-one war movies in the woods, but this one fell short many times as the badguy played by Travolta was infuriatingly cliche. DeNiro could've done this movie in his sleep and at times i thought he was. Cheeseball ending too. 3/10 The Smurfs. Bad, even for a kids movie. Not much happens, so let's fill it with... Smurf-all. 1/10 Megamind. Older one, but i enjoy this kids movie every time i watch it. Will Ferrell is great. 'Thighten' not so much, but meh. 7/10 Escape From Planet Earth. Newer kids movie is alright. Not memorable though. 5/10 G.I. Joe Retaliation. Going great until Bruce Willis popped up. The movie didn't require him, at all. Meanwhile, Flint's character was as vacant as the 2-dimensional prettyboy actor who portrayed him. Lady Jaye was eye-poppingly hot. Got that character a bit wrong, and it was shallow, of course, but even she had way more personality than Flint. This was basically Roadblock's movie. Not sure if Roadblock was deserving of one, but whatever, the People's Champ does what he wants. Oh, the action was meh. First one was better. 5/10
  5. This pretty much sums it up. He played very well early on while Cory struggled, and while Cory was getting the starts later on, Luongo was growing mold on the bench. There was one game last season where i thought, 'hey, this is an impact one', and, 'why the frack haven't they pulled him yet?' And that was the Detroit one in which Luongo had to go on twitter to joke about all those Bud goal lights being burned out. Question is if, in that particular game, Schneider would've fared better? (I doubt it.) In a league where Bobs can go from 'meh' to vezina in one season, and where Bryz can go from top-notch to out of the league in 1-1/2 seasons, it's fairly safe to say that goaltending consistency isn't certain. It's also safe to say that the team, not the goalie, determines how well the goalie will perform. For example, is Rinne truly elite? Or is he just playing behind Trotz's system and Weber? Is Bobrovsky truly a vezina-calibre guy? Or is he another Russian guy playing for a good contract? One that he'd never get the opportunity to earn in Philly.
  6. It's junior. How tough could the competition be?
  7. I wouldn't send Lucic or Ladd over there. Lucic especially. Phaneuf, Methot and Green neither. The biggest concern is goaltending, but i suppose Lu will erase that.
  8. I'm not sure why Willes is so scared of Torts coming in and 'acting like he's smarter than him'... When EVERYONE ELSE is too. I do not believe for a second that the mainstream country club media types in this town hate the idea of Torts coming here. Quite the opposite is true. The media is getting really excited at the prospect of Torts coming here. Why? Well, they want to be stars. Like Brooksie. And all they have to do is try and get some tv-worthy quotes. They are all brushing up their stupid question skills as we speak.
  9. So... Is Willes the 'media legend' here that Torts should think twice about before ripping in half?
  10. "This guy is arrogant." "The Canucks represent me in the league" Lol
  11. If the idiot media here would notice, the slide was well underway before Keenan came along. However, if the Canucks wanted to justify a core change, a coach-player war certainly would speed it up.
  12. Isn't Farhan just another troll? Why is he even covering this team?
  13. I had to laugh at Taylor's comment regarding Torts' dismissal of NY media legends Rosen and Fischler. "He has to know who he's talking to when he comes here." Can anyone tell me who out of our current group of mainstream media would count as a 'legend?' Tony G? IMac? Kuzman? Botch? Um, i know these guys like their own little cozy world they're in, but to refer to themselves as 'legends?' I think Torts will be just fine. While i'd like Torts to go on and rip our media's dumb questions, i think the bigger benefit is that he'll rip the dumb questions from other teams' media as well. Perhaps even some other teams' 'legends.' Pfft, 'Legends.'
  14. Wonder if Gillis consulted his ol' buddy Nazzy about Torts? He led the Zherdev-Gomez-Drury-Redden era Rangers in goals that season, but then retired the season after.
  15. I think the amount he yells at his own guys is overblown, but when a coach gets fired he often looks inward to figure out why and what he can do to improve. If yelling too often is part of the problem, then he'll likely cut it out. I guess we'll see. Either way, the Canucks have to make room in the lockerroom for the coach. Something they're not used to. Could be inspiring. Could put some guys off. I guess we'll see.
  16. I've seen brutal regular season Rangers efforts and Torts is calm as a cucumber. Perhaps this 'yelling all the time' thing is a myth sprouted from his HBO acting performance and his attacks on stupid media questions.
  17. However the Rangers before Torts were even less inspiring. Your point on yelling is lost on me. Not that Torts is one of the all-time greats, but a lot of those great coaches yelled at their players all the time. Why did they? Probably to get their point across at the time. Sometimes a reminder is needed. This is normal. A yelling coach is pretty much sterotypical in all sports.
  18. Coaches yelling at players is nothing new. If the wins come, yell away.
  19. Botchford is likely welcoming Torts with open arms, because he'll poke the bear with dumb questions, try to acheive TSN media star status so TO lets him back in. Tony G? Not so much. "And imagine the media wars here if this guy were to come in. Given how popular hockey is in this town, and how prominently it’s played compared to its relatively minor status in the Big Apple, people would be going out of their way to ask him questions that would tick him off, just to get the video on the show. Judging by how little it takes to get Tortorella to act like an immature goof who doesn’t seem to realize that dealing with the media is part of his job, some guys could set him off without even trying." I don't think the G Man will last too much longer. He's not looking forward to having to deal with a strong personality. He doesn't have the energy anymore to play this media game. imho Torts will outlast him here. But we'll see.
  20. Or maybe the plan was to keep Linguini all along and add some Tortellini. Italian heritage UFA's: Ribeiro, Lombardi, Scuderi, Santorelli, Sanguinetti, Montoya, Pinnizotto, Mancari, Leggio, Iginlini, Connolli, Selannini, Hortonini, Zidlicki, Khabibulini, Hamrlikini, Filppulini, Clarksonini. And don't forget about trading for Lecavalini.
