  1. Looking at the draft list, I wouldn't mind drafting Jimmy Snuggerud in the second round. Just the sound of that name is appealing!
  2. Lol, I guess that's the source - if you want to call it that. That pretty much seals the deal. Myers is NOT going to Ottawa lol https://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Kevin-Francis/DeBrincat-to-the-OttawaSens-talking-to-Canucks-about-Tyler-Myers/294/118025
  3. We don't have to trade for draft picks. Miller is an attractive option even as a one year rental to a "win now" team, I wouldn't mind something like Miller/salary retained + ?? for Sergachev You'd have to add more, likely in picks/prospect. How else does Tampa fit under the cap? I say we fleece them right now.
  4. We probably miss trading him at TDL, then draft, then next TDL and let him walk for free. It's the Canuck way. Explanation from Management: "We think he's one of the best players in the game and can help our team win now. Unfortunately, we didn't make the playoffs again, but we don't regret our decision to try."
  5. Colorado: Nathan MacKinnon Tampa: Stamkos St Louis - Washington: Alexander Ovechkin Pittsburgh: Fleury, Crosby Chicago - Kane LA - Boston - 1st overall not required, but it sure helps.
  6. At the TDL, everyone be like "it will get done at the draft!". Draft comes, and picks are treated like gold, nobody trades them other than to move up and down a few spots. Prediction. We will resign Miller. We aren't trading him for a mixed bag of late draft picks.
  7. The reported 8 year deal was actually just a 6 year deal supposedly.
  8. We need to take advantage of this situation and fleece them while we can.
  9. They lost by 1 goal, and Leaf Nation goes nuts. Great for my hockey pool though, it was a slam dunk.
  10. These "open for business" comments come up every year and very rarely does anything happen. Seems those picks are thrown around like a football at the trade deadline, and then they hoard them at the draft like they are all sure fire bets.
  11. I won't miss going through pre-season only to not have our lines set. We will be ready this time.
  12. At one point, I thought I heard the crowd chanting "Bruce, there it is!". Then I realized it's the regular version, not the Bruce version.
  13. Bah, I go to NHL.com and see Boston up 1-0. Thinking... it must be Marchand, Pasternak or Bergeron that scored. Click the game summary... of COURSE it's the rat.
  14. A couple times I pondered the idea of Petey for Adam Fox (salary retained). I fully expect to get flamed just for mentioning trading Petey, but it solves the top right D problem. However much you like Petey, I actually think NYR says no. I don't actually want to trade Petey, but I liked our chances better when we built from the net out. We've built from forwards down, and we just can't defend. We should draft 5 D men and a goalie this draft. Where else are we going to get 2-3 top 4 D?
  15. If we had a full season with Boudreau, we probably make the playoffs. That said, our D is not good enough to make it past first round. How do you fix it?
  16. Myers is too slow, and that's why we make a change. You can't have guys skating around your defenders if you want to go far in the playoffs.
  17. That was a great interview with Podz. Hats off to him for doing that interview, despite being a little nervous about his English. I like that he came right out and asked them to go easy on him as he's still learning English. For the most part, the questions weren't awful, I can think of worse questions. (Remember they asked Petey how much ice time he wanted in the first few games, to which he replied "I'd like 60 minutes") You can just tell that since the new year, he has settled in and felt more comfortable. He's putting in lots of extra work both on and off the ice. He's fitting in with the team and coach well, and steadily improving. The last 20 games or so he's been very noticeable heading to the net, digging in corners and making good passes. He managed to sneak in a few laughs too, which was good to see. He's going to come out of the gate really strong next year. He's going to be a really good (complete) player I think. He oozes character, determination, and commitment. Can't wait to see what he can do next year. And maybe he will play in the Calder cup too and excel there. Lot's of upside, glad he is on our team.
  18. The evidence has been scrubbed (archived). You'd have to know exactly what you are looking for to find it.
  19. 1. MVP - Demko 2. Most Exciting Player - Miller 3. Best Defenceman - Hughes 4. Unsung Hero - Burroughs
  20. We need to change all the D not names Hughes. Half the forwards need to get changed out as well. This team is not close to seriously contending. I'll still watch though.
  21. If we don't make it in to playoffs, there's some icing on the cake. We papered down Podz for Abby, so if the Canucks don't make the playoffs, he will be in the Calder cup playoffs. That immediately makes Abby deeper. He'd probably be the top player on that team. That could be fun to watch.
