  1. There's a coming story developing on the confederate guy. Looks like they are peacefully shaming that person out of the group, because they are not part of the group. Nobody else is covering their face. There's like 2 bad apple flags in the whole protest. The media makes SURE you see that instead of the kind peaceful protestors. I saw video of them cleaning up the streets this morning of garbage. Respect.
  2. I'm not looking for a battle, but I spent 17 years there. Maybe @Warhippydoesn't trust me, for reasons I don't understand. The Trudeau Tofino trip really busted me though. Trudeau went surfing in Tofino. How can you defend that? Please give me a valid reason with proof and a link. " New September 30 holiday: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Beginning 2021 a new statutory holiday is held to commemorate the legacy of residential schools fulfilling one of many recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This is not a public holiday. Only federally regulated workplaces (such as the federal government, banks, post offices, etc.) will be closed in order to observe this new holiday. Indigenous communities originally opposed to using September 30 because that's when Orange Shirt Day is currently observed. Instead, June 21 was considered as the alternate day, which is currently the National Indigenous Peoples Day. This, however, is only ten days away from Canada Day and would make the two stat holidays too close together. As this new holiday for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is on the last day of September it will have, perhaps unexpected, implications since no other holiday is on the last day of any month. Real estate purchase and sale closing dates could be affected according to the Canadian Real Estate Association and you should be aware that Canada Post, air transportation and banks will be also closed, disrupting public services on September 30."
  3. I've driven by the graves for decades and never knew the real story. The elected official lead of our country still won't admit to this. You are making fun of this, which isn't really helping. After making it at not so national holiday, Trudeau still went to Tofino instead of reconciliation. One more reason for the protests.
  4. The guy in the speedo was funny, but I didn't share that. That's your choice. There's a lot of good people in Ottawa, I hope their voice is heard.
  5. Don't be so angry. These politicians have divided Canadians. If you don't support freedom of choice, I'll accept that. I seriously doubt anyone would change their mind anyways. I was hoping to just get a memo of understanding.
  6. Top answers from far left trying to portray this convoy in such a way -these people are racist far right wingers. -they are dumb and don't get it -their number are small, so it's irrelevant -the election results prove Jt has mandate to vax you all -look, there is a confederate flag, these guys are assholes. -the organizers want to promote violence. -they are dumb. -they don't care about you JT can end the whole thing with a stroke of the pen. None of the above is true. These are regular blue collar Canadian just wanting to go to work.
  7. Under emergency act, they require proper debate in the house. I doubt anyone can say there has been proper debate, these politicians lead by the Liberals have just shut down debate. They mandated vax after promising not to do that. Mandating a vax vs loss of job is probably unconstitutional, it's not about election. Politicians in this country are normally held to a higher standard and respect the convention and charter of rights. And we should all respect rights to peaceful protest, even if it looks silly to you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Canadian_federal_election The Liberals didn't even represent the popular vote, but that's another problem with such system. So why does 3/10 voters get to bypass freedom of choice and our own charter. They get to impose their will on the rest of the people without any thought. Ask yourself: a) i got a vax because it would help me and I understand all the reasons b) I got the vax because I didn't want to be singled out in mandates or denied access to travel and freedom c) both reasons partially If you answer b or c, you will get the problem and why people are protesting.
  8. "Vaccine mandates and passports are a redline that shouldn't have been crossed (IMO)" That's where I stand, I thought that was pretty clear. I'm double vax, but that doesn't mean I can't support freedom of choice. I think many are doing the same thing at the recent rallies.
  9. Not at all. You should be able to stand where you like on issues without fear. Vaccine mandates and passports are a redline that shouldn't have been crossed (IMO). It's a form of coercion through fear. That's not what our democracy is supposed to do. I still support the vax, just not firing people for not taking it, restricting their freedoms and travel. Better masks, ventilation are great things to support. If they won't support it, then at least give us the freedom to wear our own better masks. My stance on that hasn't changed - the science supports that. People will do the right thing, get the vax, wear a better mask, maybe even donate so schools can get better ventilation and help their community.
  10. That's fake, but also partially true. The official gofundme does not fund that. The convoys have other fundraisers of their own though. I'm among one of the visible Metis minority represented by others in Ottawa. I can see they are clearly raising their own funds for better drinking water - it's through selling legit merchandise though to support the cause. No idea how much they've raised, but I wish them well for their cause, because it's a good one.
  11. Best troll job of the pandemic I've seen so far.
  12. Mainstream media is not doing much reporting on it. They are paid by the Liberals, so would you expect anything less? Here's a closer look. There are a couple bad apples, but protesting peacefully.
  13. The main convoy arrived in Ottawa this morning. The tail of that convoy hasn't made it and parked yet. The Kingston account was a different group that arrived yesterday.
  14. Several reports that the full convoy hasn't arrived yet. It will be even bigger tomorrow.
  15. His explanation in the video makes perfect sense. Plenty of visible minorities are represented and have similar views.
  16. And JT, with the stroke of a pen can end the Emergency Act invocation. As of recent, they didn't even have proper house debate on the measures as they are supposed to. The least they could do is get back to work.
  17. It means it's on their agenda for next house sitting. He would be foolish to impose a date, without first having finalized discussion. I didn't check, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was already discussion on the topic.
  18. There we go. Someone with common sense, and explained perfectly.
  19. And all the people waving Quebec flags will have to go home at 9pm in order to make their 10pm curfew. How is that freedom?
  20. Here's your racists white supremacist's! Oh wait, it's just a bunch of Canadians protesting peacefully.
  21. They've been instructed to collect video, report, and not confront or contribute to any non peaceful disturbances. It's a free country, let them protest in peace they way they intend to.
  22. The police won't do anything except keep an eye on the couple bad apples. Technically they've done nothing wrong... yet. The truckers also have their eye on it and will cooperate with the police in the whatever way they are instructed. This was well rehearsed and widely communicated to the whole convoy for days. The couple bad apples are badly outnumbered should they try anything.
  23. The truck isn't part of the protest, and was already reported as such. If the police do nothing, then what else can they do.
