I just looked at the score at the beginning, saw it was 2-0 Detroit and went “of course it is.” Took me a year or two after the bubble run, but I’ve finally accepted that we’re a bad team. We have good individual players, but on the back end we have a pretty severe lack of talent, without Demko we don’t have a legitimate starting goaltender and we completely lack the necessary compete/structure to be competitive on a nightly basis. This is going to take a while to get steered back in the right direction. Hoping that some of the moves being made, and those that will be made down the road, bring us closer to being a consistent playoff team again.

And when you give up a PP goal every 3 opps it’s almost impossible to win

Is it a new thing for Canucks players to take soft 50 ft wrist shots that the goalie easily gloves for a whistle? Seems like it kills any possibility to set up zone time.

The thing that’s always harmed this organization, save for a few years…is just the complete inability to defend. Even in 2011, we were # 1 in goals against, we had an incomprehensible meltdown in the Stanley Cup Finals, getting outscored 23-8 in the series. Honestly, although we won the Presidents Trophy again in 2012, I feel the 2011 Cup Final was the turning point for this organization. I still don’t think the franchise has gotten over the devastating loss. Everything was aligned to win it all that year, and it all just came crashing down in such an ugly manner. Since then almost every move the franchise has made has backfired. The Canucks brand was DEEPLY harmed after the 2011 Cup Final, and it’s going to take an incredibly committed effort to get this train back on the tracks again.

The one thing I can’t stand, is when other teams do chippy or dirty things…we just take it! It’s literally mind boggling how this team just has no physical response. You didn’t dare mess with a team with Gino Odjick on it. Trevor Linden always stood up for his teammates no matter what! Even Bure tried to annihilate Shane Churla with his payback elbow. This organization just says “we want the PP.” I don’t care about the 10% chance at scoring a PP goal, send a message! I’d be more proud of a team that went 10-72 and always played hard, physical hockey than one that wins 40 games and plays like cowards. To quote Xander Harris from Buffy the Vampire Slayer “A black eye heals Buffy, but cowardice has an unlimited shelf life!”

And that’s the bottom line…because Stone Cold said so!

Thank you! This guy has 3 Stanley Cup rings as a GM and he’s in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Maybe he knows what he’s doing? He’s only been on the job for a year or so and quick fixes are what got us into this terrible mess. Gonna have to endure some pain unfortunately

I actually think these past 3 years are worse than the 1997-2000 era. At least we had human highlight reel Pavel Bure, we drafted the Sedins and saw the rise of Markus Naslund and the beginning of the West Coast Express years. This is just brutal, sloppy, losing hockey, night after night after night.

If they were they’d have 5-7 more wins than they do. I’m at the game, believe me, the effort is nonexistent. They don’t want to be here

I’m at this game with my wife, we live in Pittsburgh. She’s a Pens fan but she’s been consoling me all game. I’ve been to 3 Canucks games prior to this and they’ve lost every one. Wouldn’t want to break that pattern :/. We both agree the Pens aren’t that great, but they’re definitely better than the Canucks
