[Rumour] Senators exploring trade for Alex DeBrincat
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Qualifying offer 9M!? Much rather have JT. Very happy to have Mr Miller on this team. -
I can definitely agree that there is really no defined road map to the cup. I think it was Gilles of all people that said something like "you can't keep chasing goal posts". I define that as you can't keep building a team to mirror the other team that just won. Pick your path, the one you believe in, and build to it.

To me, it comes down to player recognition. If you have played to a high level, especially won at a high level, you recognize that player that has "it". You may not even like him, but when your winning with him you love him like a brother. Not every player can elevate and it's up to the GM to collect as many as possible that can play.

Ultimately, you learn the most from your mistakes, so moving forward I suspect Dubas will get better at his job. I cannot support his work in TO and I see it as a complete failure and a mess moving forward. I prefer GM 's that have played to a high-level, won championships, understand the it factor and the elevation in play that it takes to win.

Dubas iced a great shinny team. He failed miserably at adding a legit, cup calibre goalie, the D is still terrible. The bottom six is average at best. The core four simply can't elevate from their free wheeling, regular season play. Yip, he built a great regular season shinny team that can't elevate at playoffs. Spent all future draft capital and still, a shinny team. He had years and some star players to build a playoff team and failed miserably. I can't believe anyone can call his tenure a success.

Thank you, so well said. Yet so many fanboys talk of the value adds by Dubas?? He had probably five bad moves to every good one, that may be generous. Such an overrated term for Dubas in TO that is defended simply because it is TO. He was horrible. How many picks did he leave them with over the next two years? Bahaha.

They should of kept Hunter to help Dubas prepare for the NHL. -

This. Sutter and his stubborn ways lost the room. Right or wrong. I expect Calgary to look much better next year under a new coach. I actually don't mind Treliving as a GM and his vision of a heavier team is more to my liking than Dubas and his shinny players.
