[Signing] Kings sign Andreas Athanasiou
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Glad we didn't sign him. If we wanted more speed would rather sign Grabner. At least he knows how to play hockey. -
[PTO] Kevin Connauton with Panthers
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Ouch! I wanted to upvote with a vomit pic but don't know how. That stat hurts. -
Perhaps. They are definitely struggling.

Russia has been brutal so far. They have no identity. Not skilled, not big, not fast, not defensive, not offensive. Very little chemistry through the team and their D are pylons.
-
I just said that to my boy. Pods doesn't look to be the guy to carry play. He's the digger, the plumber, the responsible one. I watch #13 for Russia and he'd be perfect as a linemate for Pods. #13 loves to carry the play. It's like they expect Pods to be "the guy " on his line. BTW, Pods linemates are useless.

Lol. All good. Enjoy the upcoming season. I can't wait for the games to begin with just so many things wrong with this year. But I think near the top of my list of things missed is Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night. Im going on my fourth decade of my winter Saturday nights spent in front of the tube, box of Pils in the fridge on the ready, double header on TV. Can't wait.

Was only one game so maybe I'm reaching. What I saw that reminded me of Burr was the willingness to be at the net and winning his board battles. I didn't see a guy that drives his line but rather the hard working glue guy. Ala Burr.
-
His style of play, he reminds me of Burr actually.

[Signing] Lightning re-sign Erik Cernak

Cue the bleeding hearts defending the tax free states as having no advantage. Complete BS that tax free teams can build their teams at percentage points cheaper than others. How is this a level playing field. -
[SIGNING] Goldobin signs with CSKA Moskow

If waiving LE was an option it would of been done three years ago. -
[Speculation] Canucks clearing Cap for Hamonic
rekker replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Would love to see this signing. Replace Benn with Hamonic and our D gets better. Get it done JB. -
So promising and bodes well for the future. Exciting times for sure.

[Signing] Hurricanes re-sign Haydn Fleury
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Watched Fleury plenty in the WHL and was always impressed. Wonder if JB ever tried acquiring the young dman as his age fits our timelines. -
Really like what they have done over the last few years. They got a little lucky with SanJose dropping off like they did but nevertheless it's been fun to watch. Always liked the Sens. To me they are like the Ontario anti-Leafs and I'm guessing in as little a two seasons may be the better team. The best team in Ontario. Can't wait.

I dont think Virtanen has the IQ to become a top 6 forward.
rekker replied to apollo18's topic in Canucks Talk
I've definitely had my frustrations with Jake. If he's in shape, he's shown a steady progression in his development and I've noticed where the game around him seems to be slowing in his mind. Comes from experience and I believe he will keep progressing. If, if, he's in shape. -
[Signing] Oscar Fantenberg signs in the KHL
rekker replied to DeltaSwede's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Easily. Just goes to show what the flat cap and uncertain financial future is doing to players and teams. Anthony Duclair apparently turned down a good contract from the Sens, acting as his own agent. Not a good decision. -
[Signing] Oscar Fantenberg signs in the KHL

Was a great depth dman for us and wouldn't be surprised to see him back here after next season. -
Holy crap. I woke up from a nap, after a suds lunch, wrote this, and still not quite sure what I meant to say, lol.
-
So we lose a good player at pretty much league minimum because of our overpaid, highest paid slug who isn't better than Leivo. F off LE .

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jake Virtanen
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I agree fully. Jake has come along slowly but he has improved a bit every year. I have had my issues with him along the way but I'm cheering for the BC boy. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jake Virtanen
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yip. With Jake it always come down to no one but himself. This could well be his limit income wise. If he applies himself and develops into the best pro he can be he will have a way larger payday waiting for him. I like the guy, I really do. I want nothing more than to see him figure it out and be a force. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jake Virtanen
rekker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Lukewarm on this. One year at 20 goals doesn’t make you a 20 goal scorer. Just a guy who scored 20 goals one year. With Jake's inconsistencies I'm not sure he's worth 2.5. Hope he proves me wrong. -
[Signing] Conner Brown re-signs in OTT avoids ARB
rekker replied to Mackcanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It's a cannundrum. I think Jake may have more potential but it really doesn't matter if the dedication and hard work isn't there. From what I saw watching Brown play for the Leafs, he is a hard working kid. I don't think Jake has earned a contract based on potential. Not yet.
