  1. If a deal is made and LE refuses to waive it would start a riot that makes 2011 look like a hobo's hot dog fire.
  2. Can't agree. Watching the final four to six teams in the playoffs and the other teams D was just way deeper. It can't be overlooked how having another quality D threat will elevate time and space for Hughes game. Teams were relentless on checking Quinn so having another threat will help alleviate that.
  3. Oh man exciting times. Imagine going into next year with Dillon and OEL upgrading our d corps. Would be ideal.
  4. I think the worries on OEL’S later years are overdone. Someone brought up Eddy who is currently almost five years older than OEL and still a very effective dman. OEL is a way, way better, skating dman than Eddy ever was. No offence Eddy, love ya. I can't see OEL declining to far. Especially to cap dump level.
  5. Bravo. Eddy has been a stellar Canuck and still is. If they can get his minutes down he's got a few more years left. Man would I love to see him hoist a cup in a Canucks jersey. Drafted a Canuck and hopefully plays out the stretch as one.
  6. We can get Petriangelo? I heard it's between TO, Vegas, St Louis.
  7. You'd think they'd want Gaudette. I'd do Gaudette instead of Sutter if they take LE. Guessing Arizona doesn't want that.
  8. But Krug wants to stay so why not just sign him and save the assets. It's weird.
  9. True. Also, opposition can't totally key on one guy like we saw teams key on Hughes last playoffs.
  10. Add to that. OEL is actually 10.5 real dollars till 2024. Bet Arizona wants to rid themselves of that.
  11. Yes, some combination of those and probably a pick. Thing is, no one is going to offer a up a true, young top flight D like a Sergachev or Hughes or Chabot. Why would they. Our package with some of those players should be enough. Sticking point may be that we may need to eat some of LE's salary, maybe a million. That and if it's a first Arizona has to wait till next year for it.
  12. OEL is somewhere between a Tanev type to a Norris type and you won't get that for 6 million. He's always been on crap teams so one has to wonder how he would gel with our young up and coming starts. I'd bet he would look excellent.
  13. I don't think so. OEL is a dynamic, smooth skater. A good thinker too. Those skill sets will keep him good for years. I've been a big fan for years. Would be stoked to see this happen.
  14. 100 percent. It's why if we add extra It's worth it. Im ok with almost anything as long as Hogs and Pods aren't involved. Gonna be tough though.
  15. And Boston? They have cap issues too and I would think they would just save the assets and sign Krug.
  16. It would hurt. But I'd do it for OEL.
  17. Exactly. A deal with us will involve at least LE. A deal with the Oilers, for example, will most certainly involve James Neal. The Flames, Lucic. Of all those LE costs the least dollars moving forward which is why I think we have a chance.
  18. Again, we are in uncharted territory with uncertain caps and economic times. Any contact with that number and term, regardless of player is tough to move. He picks his spot just like Kesler did. It will limit the return just like it did with Kes.
  19. I wouldn't call that contract incredibly cheap. It's round about, give or take what he would cost as a free agent but now it will cost assets to aquire him. If he is indeed asking for a trade he has a full no movement clause so he calls the shots. Does he and his family want to move to Edmonton? Who knows. He may possibly list a few teams or one team ala Ryan Kesler which will diminish his worth. I really like OEL but their are question marks surrounding how he may adapt to a hockey mad market and a hot spotlight. Couple these points with an epic, questionable, cap future I can't see any home run for Arizona. I'd even say that there is no way OEL moves without some kind of crap contract going back. It will probably be a lot shorter term crap contract, but something.
  20. Maybe a 24, 25 year old OEL. Not the 29 year old with 7 years remaining. He's due 10.5 real money in the first four years. Only so many teams are taking that on in this climate. Arizona will not be overwhelmed with A+ trade proposals. It will come down to how much they really want to move him and how much finances factor in. My guess is they are strapped. I can't see how they are a team with a deep bank account to weather this strom.
  21. Ya. It's nut bar, competitive parents with kid googles, and excessive lines of credit driving it all. Been through the scholarship phase and it's not what people think. Full rides are for only the exceptional, but not guaranteed once signed. Most are partial scholarships to American universities. Their tuitions are through the roof and with the exchange rates it's astronomical. Best scholarships are actually Canadian imho. It's not much but even a partial tuition is great. Our tuitions are reasonable, no exchange, and you play for free. Thing is you have to actually be good to earn a Canadian scholarship. Any half decent player can get a US scholarship through the three divs of university hockey. You just have to write a cheque. A lot of these kids you hear playing in the states are paying twenty-five thousand or more for the opportunity on a "partial" scholarship. Parent's, like myself, need to honestly evaluate their kid, their finances, make responsible, emotionless, decisions. But too many just borrow against their mortgages, lol.
  22. Your right. Sad but true. It's the costs. I have two kids in high level rep. One is off to play university hockey this year, the other is at a top Midget level. It's ridiculous the costs and unless you make a decent living, don't even think about it. House hockey is of course cheaper but even that is expensive.
  23. Thanks. So quite a bit up front. 10.5 till end of 2024 season. Arizona must be bleeding money and wanting to streamline. Not like they were reaping wealth before the pandemic.
