  1. Anyone know the structure of OEL's contract? Front loaded or not? Signing bonuses? Etc.
  2. Definitely some irons in the fire for JB to aquire a right side dman. Gotta be why he's got Tanev dangling in the wind.
  3. I am in the tail end of my kids minor hockey careers and can tell you for sure this younger generation just lacks in righties. Forward and especially D. Conversly you are correct in that when I suit up for beer league most of us oldies are righties. Its just a weird thing.
  4. Any trade involving OEL would need to include LE going the other way. LE is a plug, but Arizona will need to take back some salary from any team interested in OEL. To me, this is were it gets interesting because of all the bad contracts Arizona will need to take back, LE at least makes financial sense for them. This is probably about money for Arizona and LE has only five owing. It would cost at least Jake and Rathbone or OJ. Probably a high pick as well. It's just so intriguing as it would give us two absolutely legit top two dmen. One could argue we've had two number two dmen in the past but to me it would give us the best top two we've had in decades, possibly ever.
  5. I hope JB isn't in on Ceci. We need upgrades, not degrades on the blue line.
  6. Yip. I look at a player like Matthews that gets all the media attention. He's a dog in his own zone and lose a stupid amount of puck battles for a big guy. Bo and EP have more compete in their pinkie fingers than Mr Pulldown Pants has in his whole body.
  7. This smoke around OEL is interesting. Love Tanev but I'm guessing he wants 6 million at least, plus some term. OEL at 8.5 is a better option. He's a left shot but I wonder if he plays the right side. Hughes and OEL would make a great pairing if OEL can play RS.
  8. Good points but you cant underestimate Petey's will to win. Particularly his aggressive nature in getting the puck back. Its unbelievable for a star. I watch other stars and they have the "get me the puck" attitude. Petey's desire to have the puck, find a teammate anywhere on the ice, elevates everyone around him. I remember a play In his rookie year, it was a 3 on 2 that the boys wrecked royally. You could read Petey's lips on the bench afterwards. ",Guys, Focus!" This kid is so special I get goose bumps when I watch him. I'm glad you agree that I wouldn't trade EP for Eichel. Ever.
  9. OEL is an excellent dman but his contract is just to long. If we didn't have Hughes I bet JB would be more interested. As it stands we will be paying Hughes a lot soon enough so I can't see a cap fit for OEL. Maybe if Arizona retained some, took LE. But then we would be adding big time.
  10. Lol. He has a cup and a swanky gig in the desert so I don't blame him. Seems players never want to leave there. I've been there a few times and it's beautiful. Gotta say if I already had my cup ring, another year contract down there, I wouldn't leave either.
  11. Do it. Then we meet the Rangers in the finals and he stones them. Ahh, sweet dreams.
  12. Got to hand it to Bergevan. He's done a great job as the team looks competitive and has a pile of picks to boot.
  13. Fair enough. If I was JB I would look into trade options first. But if they aren't open to play I would offer sheet. The problem with the offer sheet is you need to wait to make it yet. There players could be gone by then. My guess is they find a way to keep Chirelli. Cernak is somewhat redundant. If they take a first I'd do it. He is a perfect here.
  14. Also. One cannot overlook re-signing players in a tax friendly state to lower contracts. Full credit for the win but I really don't like the disparity between teams under a cap. The cap top should be adjusted in tax free states.
  15. Cernak would be perfect. I would do Gaudette and next years second. I'd even do next years first. His age and style of play is a perfect fit for us.
  16. Buffalo can ask whatever. I wouldn't trade Petey straight across for Eichel. Eichel may even be a better player but the game is played with your melon and your heart as well. Petey makes his linemates and teammates better. Eichel has yet to show this on a consistent basis. He's a top centerman in the NHL, but so is Petey. I wouldn't trade one for one. Not even close.
  17. Yip. I'm a pretty positive person, but not on an NHL return anytime soon. I've been soaking this in and enjoying hockey to it's fullest. No paying fans in the foreseeable future, no crossing borders. Frig, depressing.
