  1. Going forward I just dont see cap issues for the Canucks unless another bad contract is inked. LE and Sutter will be off the books soon enough. Probably a buyout window with the new CBA and that will help. Interesting numbers on Kapanen but I wonder if those are tainted by pre Nylander and post Nylander games played? The eye test seemed to show his quality ice time went down when flamingo boy was back.
  2. So true. I remember the crap reporting on the Luongo trade scenarios.
  3. I dont think so. Offer sheets only work if a team is up against the cap. This may have a player feeling he isnt getting the money he deserves. Canucks aren't against the cap. It also takes two to tango. Kapanen is the example of a player who would get more top line minutes in Vancouver vs Toronto so may be more apt to sign the offer.
  4. Been thinking on it and I would do Zaitsev for Tanev and Kapanen. It's a fair deal for both sides.
  5. Sure. And I can start dating a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, lol. There's a chance.
  6. The Hawks need a goalie. I say we offer our tenth and Demko for the Hawks third overall. Byram is exactly what we need.
  7. If protected sure. Conner Brown, meh. I agree we some quality, a sniper.
  8. Ya. I can agree on the first for this year. But next years first I would lose for the right player. The only reason I would do it for Kapanen is that it may be a later first, a first you would hope to draft a Kapanen type player with. That first otherwise is still a gamble and may net you a Gaunce or Shinkaruk. I wouldn't trade that first for an aged player but Kapanen would grow with our group and is still a young player. Just spitballing as really our biggest need is D. But Kapanen's speed with Petey would be great. That, and watching the playoffs Kapanen was a Leaf that actually could win a board battle.
  9. We are on the same page with "the secondary player market" Would love to add Panarin but it's a long shot. I have a feeling Kapanen is ripe for the offer sheet. Fans forget it takes two to tango with these things. Kapanen has to think he would see way more quality ice on another team. If JB thinks we are a far better team next year maybe offer Kapanen 5.5. Costs a first and a third. It may be a later first for next year for the Canucks. Thing with Kapanen over the secondary UFA market is age. The Canucks get a much younger player that fits in nicely.
  10. True. Thing is there will never be another Pronger. His way of playing would never fly now. Too many cameras and the NHL doesnt have the appetite for how Pronger stretched the limits. He was one mean SOB. I imagine rookies having sleepless nights knowing they were playing Pronger the following day lol.
  11. Two days rest benefits the Bruins big time right now. Shades of 94. Two days rest going into game seven. Canucks had the Rangers on the ropes. Ugh.
  12. Yip. I agree. Just saying that if it was a Bruin laying the hit I'm guessing no hearing.
  13. The Canucks should offer sheet Kapanen. 4.2 million per. Would cost us a second rounder. One of the few Leafs I like.
  14. He will get a game. Shades of the Rome hit in 2011. If Horton hit Rome it wouldn't of even been a penalty. Just good ole Bruin hockey.
  15. I know you think it's a good hit 73, and for the record so do I. I have no issue with it as the fight for the cup should be just that. A dogfight. I just get frustrated with the double standard. Watched it with the Bruins for years as when they lay a hit like that it's good ole Bruin Hockey. I guarantee if that was Dorsett laying the hit its charging. The sad part of my analogy is I have to go back to Dorsett to find a Canuck that would lay a hit like that. Ugh.
  16. Yip. We can agree. The Oilers are the one in a pickle. A big pickle. LE is a drag but we do not need to move him. Oilers are against the cap, and need to mix things up.
  17. Our team is pillow soft so I can at least entertain the idea of adding Lucic. I would need certain checks in order to even entertain the idea. Lucic would have to agree to waiving for the expansion draft, Seattle wouldn't take him anyways. LE would have to go the other way. That's the start of a deal. Now the sweeteners and what the Oileds would have to add. Swapping firsts isnt enough. Poolparty isnt enough in my mind as I just dont see the hockey smarts there and we already have a top pick with that issue on the roster. I would offer LE, Goldy for Lucic and their first. Take it or leave it. They aren't going to see any better offers. Maybe similar offers but that's it.
  18. That was a priceless moment. I've seen 6 year olds play with better structure.
  19. Meh. I find it an odd hire as I dont see Tippets style meshing with the current cast. His style is similar to Hitchs is it not? In the end it doesn't matter. It's a tire fire and it will be years before it's under control.
  20. Bruins deserved that one. They were quicker with and without the puck. Blues D looked plynoish at times.
