What needs to happen now to eliminate VGK? -

Lmao! The biggest company I worked on was $500m... that was a massively complex spreadsheet. So many subsidiaries with formulas connecting multiple files haha. Can't imagine 4x the size. -

Well at least we didn't miss the playoffs on game 82. That would have been even more painful. -

I think economics, finance, and law all combined. Could be challenging ... -

If you were Gary Bettman, what would you do? Get that game to OT and have VGK win. That's the best case scenario for Bettman. -
I don't know if drafting is the issue as much as development. The Canucks used to be where goalies careers died. Now we're a goalie factory. Nashville seems to be the defencemen factory for the league. We need some of that development and coaching in our system to get the most out of our drafted defencemen.

I think Linden wanted a full rebuild. Sell off everything, and start building through the draft. Would have probably been 3 or 4 years of bottom dwelling, but it could have paid off handsomely. Linden came onboard just before the 2014-15 season. 2014-15: First year as POHO. Makes sense to see what the team could do. Canucks finished 2nd in the division with 101pts. GREAT! 2015-16: Year 2, finished 6th in the division. UGLY. Should probably rebuild. 2016-17: 7th in the division. OUCH. Time to rebuild for sure. 2017-18: Wait what? Can't rebuild? FA won't allow it? Uhhh ok... keep going I guess... 7th in division. AGAIN. I think somewhere during 2015-16 is when Linden was probably stating the team should rebuild and FA wouldn't go for it. The reason I think it happened around there is because Burrows, Hansen, and others were finally moved the year after (2016-17) as a rebuild. If they acted a year sooner, they probably would have been able to recoup some futures for guys like Hamhuis. After the 2017-18 season, Linden was let go. Not sure what would have triggered it, but by then, there was probably already bad blood in the room.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Yeah I noticed my mistake after I posted. I'm surprised they wanna keep Fleury? They have Talbot too... surely one of those 2 would have to go. And yes, it may be time to finally move on from Dumba. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

They'll find a way to keep Fiala. They have $75M committed of the $82.5M for next season. That's $7.5M to work with. It'll probably cost +$3M to re-sign Fiala to a $7.5M to $8M deal. That brings them to 12F, 6D, 1G committed for next year. So another $3M to sign a 13F, 7D, and backup. Totally doable. Won't give them much wiggle room, but at least the team remains together next year. The following year, Dumba, Talbot, and Kulikov all come off the books. They can worry about those issues later. -
[Proposal] Brock, Myers, Hoglander OUTTA here

By the time St Louis tears it down, Parayko won't be the Parayko we know now. Trouba is not going anywhere while NYR is competitive. Schneider we know all about, and Lundkvist is not the answer for our top pair next to Hughes. I wanted Murphy, but the Hawks just re-signed him, so he's not going anywhere any time soon. Pesce is Carolina's top RHD, so he definitely won't be moved. Deangelo maybe... but again, not the right kind of guy we need for Hughes. Anyways, you see the predicament now. It's really, really, really difficult to find a top pairing RHD. I'd bank on the UFA route a lot more than trying to find one in trade. Any team that has two Top 4 RHD are simply not gonna move them unless severely overpaid to do so. -
I wouldn't do 6M x 6... 5.99M x 6 though....

Good. Give this team with this coaching team a full season to see what they can do. It makes no sense to tear things apart including coaching staff. -

Taylor Pyatt??? Ok, you seriously don't know what kind of player Crouse is lol A player that stands up for his teammates: Not a GREAT fighter by any means, but he'll drop em and can hold his own against middle tier fighters: A quick release: A regular threat as PKer as well (notice he scored a shorty as well in that hattrick clip above). Notice the release: So no, he's not Taylor "Pretty Boy" Pyatt. He would be a 25 to 30 goal scoring top 6 forward next to Petey. He'd protect Petey on the ice too. He's just a plain nasty player to play against. -

Pulock is locked in until 2029-30 and is only 27 entering his prime. Pretty sure he's in their long term plans to be Top 4 RHD with Dobson for the foreseeable future. I think Mayfield is the guy on his way out. However, he's 29 and will be a UFA after next year. Surely Boeser is not the guy we'd trade to acquire him. Anybody else you got your eye on? -

Ok let me turn this around, who do you have your eyes on that can help that top pairing and play next to Hughes? And how do you want us to acquire him? -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
HKSR replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Geez, I think I might have to agree with you for once. Not gonna make it a habit though Anyways, I think part of it is also experience. JT Miller and this team in general need more experience playing these types of meaningful games. They NEED to make the playoffs to learn from mistakes. The best thing that has happened down this stretch is learning what kind of work ethic and determination is required to succeed in this league. Which is why I'm hoping most of this team comes back intact to make another run at the season. They deserve that chance together. -

Go VGK... ? Ugh... I hate when we need to rely on the out of town scoreboard. We end up cheering for disgusting teams. Btw @DeNiro I'm still here. It's not THE END yet lol -

I still don't think you know what kind of player Crouse is. He scored on pace for 25 goals this year playing in Arizona. He's big, he's fast, he's skilled, and he's tough. Is he Tom Wilson? No... but he'll drop the gloves and is a middleweight fighter. Next to Petey, he'd score 30+ goals. That's Top 6 numbers. If we can pull Zacha AND Graves out of NJD for Boeser, that's even better. Myers also doesn't have as much value as you think. We'd be lucky to unload his entire $6M cap hit as a 32yo player for a 3rd round pick. -

Manson is the main target this year. Lyubushkin would be another option, albeit not as ideal. Next year there's several that COULD be available (depending if they get re-signed by their teams)... the obvious slam dunk would be Cernak. Others available could be Severson, Mayfield, Weegar. I just think drafting one this year or next year is being very optimistic that they player will turn into a top pairing RHD in 3 years. Trading for one? I've mentioned before, how many quality established Top 4 RHD are moved? If a team has two Top 4 RHD, why would they move one and create a hole? We're basically shopping for 3rd pairing RHD hoping he will turn into a Top 4.
