  1. In your opinion. I view it as a top 6 player playing on the 3rd line because ...you know... depth.
  2. I think this was actually about Miller earning $6m per year in years 6 to 8 of his contract.
  3. That's the goal isn't it? JT Miller on the 3rd line potting 50ish points? Yes please.
  4. It all depends on how badly you think he will regress. I think he will be a 1C for 3 more years, a 2C for a couple years, then a 3C. Year 1 to 3: anywhere from 80 to 100pts Year 4 to 5: 70+ points Year 6 to 8: 50 points What do you have him as? BTW, 3C in title only. He's still producing at a top 6 rate.
  5. The research was done looking at all forwards regardless of when they peak, if they ever hit top 15 in scoring, etc. It doesn't even look at whether or not they're star players. I never even said that Miller wouldn't regress. My results even showed the expectation is that Miller would be a 50pt centre by age 36. So what's your problem with my methodology and results?
  6. Maybe, but you gotta wonder if Miller would be willing to sign for a shorter term. I'm sure the Canucks would, but both parties need to agree.
  7. Not that I think Miller and his agent would do it, but from the Canucks perspective, the argument would be to pay him each year based on what they expect him to be as a player. Year 1 to 3: still very productive, top scorer - $10m per year Year 4 to 5: regression begins - $9m and $8m Year 6 to 8: 50pt 3C level player - $6m per year 10,10,10,9,8,6,6,6 = $8.125m aav overall
  8. Again, you can't come up with an educated reply. Just sarcasm. Miller is not 24 or 25. He's 29. So I look at which other 29 or 30 year olds have finished top 15 in scoring to see what happened afterwards. aGENT level logic: Miller is 29 and finished top 15 in scoring. Therefore look at players aged 18 to 38 that finished anywhere from top 1 to top 100 in scoring and conclude results from there.
  9. Which I find interesting... how many guys actually get contracts that bring them into ages 37 or 38? Maybe we do see a 6 year deal for Miller?
  10. That'll be hard to research.... I'll see if I have time at work on Monday lol. It happens though.
  11. Boeser. He just doesn't fit the playstyle here anymore. Will he end up being a 40 goal scorer somewhere else? Possibly. But I wouldn't bank on that happening here.
  12. Yeah I don't disagree with that. I did a whole thread on it to see what we could possibly expect at ages 36 to 38. 0.6ppg seems to be the average by age 36, and I'd say 95% of the players retire by age 37 or 38. So there's a good chance we get 2 or 3 solid years out of Miller, a couple declining seasons, then he will be in that 36yo range. I really highly doubt he'd still be on our books at 38yo.
  13. Would be if Miller was 52 and I'm trying to see who else has done that. I really don't get why this is so hard to grasp for some people. Miller isn't 25. He's 29. I wanted to see how many other 29 or 30 year olds finished top 25 in scoring, then see what happened after that. And that is illogical for you guys And just for the record, I'm not here stating Miller will be a 90pt player at 38. That's NEVER what I said. Just in case that's what all of you are getting stuck on. In my thread, I stated we could realistically expect him to be a 0.6ppg player, and likely retire by 37 or 38.
  14. Just answer a question: Do you think it is a regular occurrence that a 29 or 30 year old finishes in the top 15 in scoring?
  15. I think one thing people overlook is that Miller did what he did this year while having no help whatsoever for 1/2 the season. He was MILES ahead in terms of production for the entire first half of this season when nobody else was really producing. It's a real testament to his ability.
  16. Same... much of Canada was cheering against us in 2011. I know Montreal was cheering for the Canucks since they hate Boston, so I cheered them on when they made the finals. Other than that, Calgary Edmonton, and TO can all goto hockey hell.
  17. You still don't see it when it's right in front of your face.... By your definition, you would be comparing the pregnant women to all women whether they are pregnant or not. Even though you were trying to determine a characteristic of pregnant women only. In the Miller example, even though only 23 players since 2010 have done what he's done this year, you are choosing to compare him to the 1000s of forwards that have played since 2010. You seriously don't see that eh? I'd almost think you're trolling at this point...
  18. Guess this was it DeNiro... told ya... with you til the end.
  19. I'm just glad there's WJHC this summer! Woo-hoo! Meaningful hockey in August baby!
  20. You know it's gotten bad when Vintage doesn't even post the goal light anymore.
