  1. So fortunate that we have Ian Clark. Those of us old enough will remember that the Canucks used to be called the Goalie Graveyard.
  2. I am too, and I think he has some more upside to his game yet to come. However, remember there are 17 other players on the bench. GMJB was responsible for those guys.
  3. I think if I can fault coach BB on anything, it would be that he prefers a high offence, high attacking type of style. So guys like Hunt are preferred over guys like Burroughs. Problem is, I don't think it is conducive to playoff style hockey, hence coach BB hasn't had a ton of success in the playoffs.
  4. At least get the year right... 2011-12 JT Miller was playing for the Plymouth Whalers. 2012-13 JT Miller was a rookie playing 26 games and scoring 4 points for the NYR. So... your comment makes ZERO sense. Nice try though!
  5. Just for information, I would probably place Boeser's value similar to Buchnevich when he was traded to St Louis. Just a bit less. Buchnevich - 54 games, 20 goals, 48 points in his contract year. RFA. However, much lower QO. Boeser - 67 games, 21 goals, 44 points in contract year. RFA. Much higher QO. Buchnevich was traded for Blais and a 2nd. Blais - 36 games, 8 goals, 15 points (that's an 18 goal, 34 point campaign pace) So Boeser? 3rd liner + 3rd round pick maybe? Also interesting to note that Buchnevich then signed a new deal that kicked in for 2021-22 at $5.8M AAV. So how Boeser could want more than $6M would be beyond me.
  6. He won't be an issue. Check out my proposal in the Proposals forum. I trade away Boeser and a couple others and we'd have over $10M+ in cap space to work with during this core's prime. And that's with Miller signed to an $8.5M x 8 deal.
  7. How about if we manage to sign Manson, then trade Myers to Columbus for Roslovic? CLB needs some serious RHD help. Podkolzin-Petey-Hoglander Garland-Miller-Roslovic Pearson-Bo-Deslauriers Highmore-Lamikko-Lockwood Hughes-Manson OEL-Marino Dermott-Schenn Burroughs Hells yes! Every forward has speed (other than Pearson). Much needed grit with Deslauriers and Manson added too.
  8. You mean since Bo Horvat went down with an injury and Miller had to take over the role as defensive match-up centre taking over 50% of the draws for the team? The Dallas game, he had no points, but arguably was his most complete game of the year. Defensively responsible and helped to generate offence for his linemates. He had a goal and an assist against OTT (so in on 2 out of the 3 goals Vancouver scored). So we are basing the conclusion that he's not a difference maker because of last night? But not the 9 games before that?
  9. Yeah those are the 2 I'd be aiming for as well, but as usual it's still always BPA. Someone ranked in the top 10 might very well be available at #15 OA.
  10. That's CDC for ya tho... the Canucks have played nearly 60 games at a .600+ clip. This isn't a fluke. This team is a good team that needs a few smaller tweaks to really become a contender. There is no other team in the league with the 1-2-3 punch of Miller, Petey, and Bo down the middle. It's a huge luxury and competitive advantage that we need to take advantage of now.
  11. Wait... what?? How has he proven he's not a difference maker? 13pts in his last 10 games during one of the most important stretches of hockey the Canucks have played this season.
  12. We could, but we could also sign a UFA to fill in for a few years. I'd hate to try and find a replacement for Myers too. Now ideal would be if we could sign Manson in the offseason and then unload Myers.
  13. Fortunately, I think the messaging has been working, as I honestly feel like I rarely see anyone smoking anymore. At least in the Lower Mainland. Now vaping on the other hand.....
  14. Ok, this might be my best one yet... To PIT: Boeser Poolman ($750k retained) 3rd Round Pick To VAN: Marino The Penguins get a perennial 20-25 (maybe 30) goal scorer, Poolman at a very palatable $1.750M AAV RHD, and a sweetener in the 3rd round pick. The Canucks get a very nicely cost controlled Tanev-lite RHD in Marino. They have also unloaded Boeser and most of Poolman's cap hit for much needed cap space. Now to the projections: Assuming the cap goes up by $1M per year for the next 3 years, then a very conservative $2M per year after that (after escrow taken care of in 2024-25)... $8.5M x 8 for Miller $7M AAV for Horvat $9M AAV for Petey Dickinson traded while retaining $750k. He becomes MUCH more tradeable at a $1.9M cap hit for 2 years. Sign Nic Deslauriers for $2.5M for 3 years. After seeing him last night, he's exactly what we need in the bottom 6. Would take a huge load off of Schenn. As you can see, we keep our competitive advantage of having Miller, Petey, and Horvat down the middle (three 30-goal scoring centres). TONS and TONS of cap space to play with, and that's WITH a significant Miller extension. When the window finally blows wide open in 2 or 3 years, we have MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of cap room to work with to improve on the already great core of players that are here. The window is open now folks. Podkolzin-Petey-Hoglander Garland-Miller-Chiasson Pearson-Bo-Deslauriers Highmore-Lamikko-Lockwood Hughes-Marino OEL-Schenn Dermott-Myers Defensively responsible guy on each pairing with an offensively minded partner.
  15. Fortunately, I think we found our Tuch in Podkolzin. The ceiling for Podkolzin might even be higher... some talk about Tarasenko as the comparable.
  16. Nope. Never said that, but I'm also not gonna use absolutes like "Miller is _____". If you had said "Miller might be _____", it's a different approach. All we know right now is Miller IS one of the most important aspects of this team that HAS played at a .600+ pace for several months and almost 60 games. That to me is FACT.
  17. I'm starting to view Boeser like a Kessel or Sharp type player. Not a core piece, but definitely a very good complimentary piece to the core.
  18. 3 personal opinions doesn't make any of your statements a fact.
  19. No, it's obvious what the reasons are, but of course you reply with a rhetorical question and a meme gif.
  20. That's if he wants the job if the team is stepping back that much. If he's here under term, then yeah I agree, the coaches job is to coach the team given to him. But if he's free to sign anywhere, there better be a good reason for him to want to stay here to coach.
  21. Yeah Deslauriers is surprisingly quick. Excellent bottom 6 guy. Probably won't be cheap though. Other teams will covet him as well which will drive his price up. I think he will get $2.5m+. Worth it in my opinion. He brings a lot to a bottom 6.
  22. It'll be a ripple effect. If Miller is moved, I think Bo will want out. Petey will once his contract is done, etc.
  23. F#@! Cancer. Seriously. RIP to another Legend. https://www.tsn.ca/montreal-canadiens-hockey-hall-of-famer-guy-lafleur-1.1789063 https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/04/22/montreal-canadiens-great-guy-lafleur-dies-at-70/
