[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
HKSR replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
If I recall correctly, the media person specifically asked him about it. It kinda put him on the spot. What was he gonna say? NO WAY! I WANNA GET PAID THE BILLS YO! lol -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
HKSR replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The funny thing is the Canucks have been one of the best teams 5v5 in the Boudreau era. I'd argue the Canucks could possibly see even more success in the playoffs because the whistles tend to go away then. We also know the PK is the Canucks weakest link of all. Less penalties, less PPs, less PKs. -
[Rumour] Tyler Motte drawing interest

It's so not fair. I just took a look at their cap situation, and they can literally come back with the same highly competitive roster next year. -

That's a really big risk for him though... What if he gets injured? What if his production really plummets by age 34 or 35? What contender would want him then? All while leaving $15 to $20M+ on the table right now? I can't see him taking that big of a risk. -

Yes! Man, he'd be PERFECT for our needs. -

Until he does it and signs for less than market value, it's all talk. -

Sure... we'll take a 1st round pick back please. -

You know I'm ALL for re-signing Miller, but realistically though, I just can't see him signing for less than 8 years with us (7 years as UFA). What would be his incentive to do so? -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

I'm gonna go out on a limb because I won't be able to find actual numbers to back it up, but I reckon during the Blackhawks hey days, if Kane were pulled out of their lineup, they would not be a contender. If Crosby were out of the Pens lineup, they wouldn't be a contender. If Kucherov was out of the Lightning's lineup, they wouldn't have won their cups. If Ryan O'Reilly was taken out of the Blues lineup, they wouldn't have won the Cup. If Ovechkin was out of the Caps lineup.... Bottomline is that it is a really weak argument to take a franchise player, and one of the absolute best players in the entire NHL right now out of a lineup and hold that against a team saying that they wouldn't be any good without him lol -

And it's easy enough to pencil in a prospect developing into a bonafide top pairing RHD. I'd take my chances with what we know (Miller is one of the best centres in the entire world) and there WILL be RHD available via UFA... For 2022: Klingberg, Manson, Schultz, Miller, Lyubushkin, etc For 2023: Dumba, Severson, Weegar, Cernak, Mayfield, Holl, Van Riemsdyk, etc -

Don't get me started on Mackinnon. He didn't take less money. He took market value. It just looks good in hindsight. -
Sure, but that doesn't provide any new cap flexibility for Vancouver.

Without a doubt it would be. I just can't see how we would make a move like that when we're so deep on the wings up front. Makes most sense to move Boeser or Garland. -

That's asking a lot of our guys. Who's gonna step up to be a Top 10 scorer in the NHL? Petey needs to play his part in providing the secondary punch. So who provides the primary? -

The snarl he brings back there would definitely be missed. The only thing I could see is that Hamonic could move into the role? Hughes-Schenn OEL-Hamonic -

Used to be... he really fell off a cliff after a 44pt in 57 game campaign. His best years were with OTT.

I really appreciate your well thought out responses rather than just attacking me and questioning my intellect lol. I can see where you're coming from, I just see this roster differently, and believe they can do serious damage in the playoffs. LA didn't make the playoffs for 6 years, then finally made the playoffs and lost in the 1st round twice in a row. After that, they won 2 cups in the 3 years after. Pittsburgh didn't make the playoffs for 4 years, then finally made it and lost in the 1st round. The very next year they went to the Finals, and finally won the Cup the year after that. Blackhawks missed the playoffs for 5 straight years, then finally made it to the playoffs and lost in the 3rd round. The very next year, they won the Cup. So clearly it doesn't always have to mean that a team needs to lose in the playoffs multiple years before finding success. This Canucks core has seen the 2nd round in their first attempt.... -
Don't misconstrue what I'm saying. I actually wouldn't mind Marino, but adding Kapanen + Marino doesn't save us any cap at all. Kapanen + Marino = $7.6M (assuming Kapanen doesn't get a raise)

I guess it all comes down to what one feels about this current roster. I feel that this current roster with a couple tweaks could be a real threat for a Cup run. The only major hole is a top pairing RHD. What else is really missing? -
[Signing] Stars re-sign Joe Pavelski
HKSR replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Man, he's gonna play until he's 50 at this rate lol Miller's value has gone up some more if teams actually want to try trading for him. -
I guess if a pure defensive defenceman is what we want at $4.4M, then sure. I just thought most of you wanted a 2-way defenceman that can keep up with Hughes long term (ie. Seabrook more than Tanev) so I looked at his overall advanced stats... not just defensive.

Like I mentioned to the other poster, I think Boeser makes much more sense to move. Not sure how moving 1C Miller helps Hogs (winger), Podz (winger), Garland (winger), Motte (winger). -
[Signing] Canucks sign Arshdeep Bains

There's an addition to the prospect pool... good job JR/PA. -
Nice. I just figured you'd know a bit more since you seem adamant that his underlying numbers are amazing. Funny how when we actually look at those amazing underlying numbers, he really isn't as great as you make him sound.
