The one fan in that article mentioned a Zadorov+Subban package for Holtby++ That covers off the backup role and goalie exposure for the ED. -
[Rumour]. Zadorov in Chicago.. may not stick .

Found an article on this: https://committedindians.com/could-the-blackhawks-trade-nikita-zadorov-to-vancouver/?fbclid=IwAR1G-8-T7tQJzBexNgQFSxqVy5nHnKzBm_F6h_XWcTyxB476_SgdhbX0Zmo Interesting... basically says Zadorov for Holtby+ A Hawk fan even wrote: Zadorov, Subban, 4th for Holtby and a 3rd The thing is, it sounds like Zadorov wants some big money. In the neighbourhood of $5M+ AAV. I'm not sure if that's worth it... -
Yeah, I can totally agree that the physical style impacts forwards much more as they lose speed and strength as they age. I could live with one of Hughes or Rathbone in the Top 4... but having both means the opposition will always have an easier path to the net on the LHD for most of the game. That just screams defensive letdowns in a physical 7 game series.

[Rumour] Jake Debrusk done in Boston?
HKSR replied to 48MPHSlapShot's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Was trying to figure out who the scouting staff were for Boston that year... but came across this: https://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2015/4/15/8421749/three-boston-bruins-scouts-fired Maybe the scouts sucked, maybe they burned all their intel before leaving... but man, one of the worst displays of drafting I recall seeing since following hockey since the 80s lol. -
This. That qualifying offer will keep 95% of teams away. Imagine having to offer him a $10M contract.
-
I'd be down with that if he signed for $1M ... would love to see him and Myers on the 3rd pair in the playoffs causing havoc lol
-
I've seen you mention this several times in many different threads. Where are you getting this conclusion from? Some of the more well known guys that played well into their 30s and never changed their playing style (physically demanding): Zdeno Chara Shea Weber Chris Chelios Scott Stevens Chris Pronger And some of the not as BIG name guys: Willie Mitchell Nicklas Kronwall Brooks Orpik Hal Gill And many more... I really don't see why playing a physically demanding game as a defenceman causes their career to fall off a cliff drastically... primarily because defencemen are usually the ones delivering the hits.

I'm not worried about McTavish... his compete level is so damn high that there's no way he'll go the same route as Virtanen.
-
That's the thing though... Virtanen has (had) such a strong package of speed, size, skill, and strength... who would have thought the hockey IQ aspect and work ethic would catch up to him.
-
I guess that could be the concern with McTavish... but then again, that shouldn't be a reason to not draft a big forward or defenceman lol
-
Ahhh... hence the "millions of Canucks" fans... lol
-
I must be under a rock, but who the heck calls him "The Lion" consistently?
-
Add William Stromgren to the list.

How long do you think the Canucks window is for a cup run? By most accounts, people seem to agree on the next 3 to 5 years. If that's what you believe (which is what I believe), then I'll take DH in his prime for the next few years when the window is open. Just remember, PK Subban had the game breaking offensive ability (more so than QH IMO), but I'm certain that if PK were still on the Canadiens, they would have been ousted a long time ago. Leave the game breaking to guys like Petey, Boeser, and Miller (and Bo at times when he's on his offensive game). Your top 4 D need to be able to defend against the big forwards in the post season. Oh, and just an aside, I'd rather my defenceman put up the numbers including double digit goals consistently rather than watching him making difficult plays lol -

You said the Canucks would lose a game breaker on the offensive end... I'm saying you won't if you add Hamilton based on all of the above. What's there to research? -

Hamilton says hi. He had more points and more goals than Hughes this past year and consistently puts up double digits in goals year after year. You can go do some research, he's an elite offensive threat, his stats prove it, and even his advanced stats are through the roof. On top of all that, he's a 6'6" beast that hits and fights. -
So I know people are excited and intrigued by Rathbone's potential, but holy smokes, simmer down on those expectations people. He played 8 games and had a good showing with 3 points, but people are penciling him into the Top 4 already and expecting he'll be able to keep up his play over a full season and 20min a night lol. Let's see what we have after 50 to 60 games....
