  1. I'm not opposed to acquiring Tierney... I think he would be an excellent addition. I just don't think dumping LE on Ottawa is gonna work when most experts believe it would take a 1st round pick to move LE out of here.
  2. I agree in most years it costs a lot to move up in the 1st round, but even GMJB said, there's 9 top guys that they like (which is probably relatively consistent across all teams), and with a draft where rankings are much more unpredictable than other years due to covid, moving from 6 to 9 or 9 to 6 shouldn't be a huge difference in value.
  3. What do the Senators gain from moving up 1 spot? Instead of a guy like McTavish, they might get a shot at Johnson? Would that make a difference for the Sens? They could probably just trade Tierney for something else and save cap and money altogether rather than take on LE and only move up one spot lol
  4. And they add LE who likely won't even play for them ... I really don't know why Ottawa bothers with this...
  5. Interesting, that's exactly what I predicted in my proposal thread, so I ended up proposing the Canucks move up 3 spots to 6 to grab Clarke.
  6. Ummm... not even close. Look at the true dynasties of the past (ie. 70s Canadiens, 80s Islanders, 80s Oilers)... those teams were on the same playing field as everyone else but they were unbelievable. This Lightning team is playing outside the rules (by circumstance and luck I guess)... but it doesn't change the fact they're on a different playing field due to LTIR. Best peer on peer team ever? Look no further than the 2005 WJHC Canada team... 6 games played, won every game... and the tournament was over before it began. Game 1: 7-3 over Slovakia Game 2: 8-1 over Sweden Game 3: 9-0 over Germany Game 4: 8-1 over Finland Game 5: 3-1 over Czech (semi-final) Game 6: 6-1 over Russia (final ... Ovechkin was on Team Russia!) Tally it up... the round robin of 4 games had Canada with 32 goals scored and 5 goals against lol I've never seen a team dominate like that. It was incredible to watch, but to be honest, it got a bit boring slaughtering the opponents over and over haha.
  7. For those that loved and miss the 2010 Olympics as much as I do... "I Believe" anthem sung by Nikki Yanofsky and Annie Villeneuve. With the montage of highlights...
  8. I saw him shopping for a house in Vancouver the other day... He was surfing realtor.ca at the Starbucks on Robson...
  9. To VAN: 6th Overall (1st Round) 48th Overall (2nd Round) To DET: 9th Overall (1st Round) 41st Overall (2nd Round) 2022 4th Round Pick Just some swapping of picks, but makes a difference... This trade hinges on discussions with SJ and LA that they are not selecting Wallstedt as he is Detroit's man. Vancouver moves up 3 spots in the 1st round, but drops 7 spots in the 2nd round while also giving up an additional 4th round pick in 2022. Detroit moves down 3 spots in the 1st round but still gets their elite goaltending prospect they desperately need, but move up 7 spots in the 2nd round and gain a 5th round pick. With that being said: 1 Buffalo - Owen Power - No doubt, the potential is there to become a franchise defenceman. 2 Seattle - Matthew Beniers - Way too much talent to pass up a player of this calibre at #2, not to mention the marketing of a star centre for the expansion team 3 Anaheim - Dylan Guenther - His stock has really jumped lately. True offensive gifts that Anaheim couldn't pass up here. 4 New Jersey - Luke Hughes - The connection to Jack Hughes is a marketing powerhouse in the making, not to mention he is an excellent defenceman. 5 Columbus - William Eklund - Eklund lands into Columbus' lap. There is no way the CBJ pass up on him here at #5. 6 Vancouver - Brandt Clarke - The whole reason why the Canucks made this deal. They land their blue chip top pairing RHD! 7 San Jose - Simon Edvinsson - Burns and Karlsson are aging out. Time to add a potential franchise defenceman to their pool 8 LA - Kent Johnson - So much skill, and possibly better suited for the wing. LA has lots of centres to work with in their prospect pool with Johnson on the wing. 9 Detroit - Jesper Wallstedt - Detroit gets their guy. 10 Ottawa - Mason McTavish - With a floor of a top tier 3C, and potential for at least 2C, McTavish and Tkachuk will be a pain in the ass to play against for years.
  10. Happy Birthday to Will! But on a side note, and not sure why but I had the urge to look it up... Happy belated birthday to Sam Bennett (born June 20th). Sorry we're a day late. Anyways, happy 18th Sam!
  11. So is this officially the first draft without Brackett? Will be interesting to see how it pans out...
  12. So you think Boston will carry 16 forwards and 9 defencemen on the active roster? Ok then, in that case, yeah no, they won't be able to afford Schmidt. What a lot of people are simply not getting is that just because the Canucks got Schmidt for a deal doesn't mean he's not more valuable than the 3rd round pick it cost to get him in the first place. He was only expendable by a Stanley Cup contender that found an upgrade on him to a RHD, and former captain of a Stanley Cup championship team (St. Louis). Prior to joining the Canucks, Schmidt was a top pairing defenceman on a Stanley Cup contender. You bet he's worth a 1st round pick (especially a late one).
  13. lmao, how much do you think Reilly and Carlo are gonna sign for? And Frederic, Ritchie and Kase? Really? You could probably sign both Reilly and Carlo for $7M, and Kase has not exactly been lighting it up, so probably another short 'show-me' deal for him. Those 3 forwards could probably be tied up for $5M to $6M. And unless you think the Bruins are gonna keep Steen,Studnicka, Kuhlman, etc on the active roster, you save a few million in extra forwards there. Bottomline, Boston has plenty of room to play with. You somehow think they have no cap room LMAO.
  14. If he is, there's still LOTS of cap room left. Krejci was a $7M+ cap hit.
  15. Haha awesome. Bang on with the UFA dollars. I just felt that UFAs typically want security in their deals, hence the longer terms that are usually handed out. As you mentioned, Boston has plenty of RHD and need LHD (which is Schmidt).
  16. You lost all credibility on your hockey knowledge right there. The Bruins actually have 11 forwards and 7 defencemen under contract for next season already and have nearly $27M in cap space to spend (Rask, Krejci and Hall make up $18M of that). They have plenty of money to spend since Krejci and Hall are likely not returning.
  17. So how much do you actually think someone like Haula and Savard would get? Those are the only UFAs. Why is there no way Boston makes the trade? Why do you feel the Kraken wouldn't take Holtby if Lind is provided for free? You basically shot down everything but have nothing to justify it lol.
  18. I've posted this in the proposals section too, but thought I'd post it here as well since a lot of people seem to think we'll be in cap hell if we trade for Reinhart. Here's my potential scenario that covers off the next 3 years (I've got year 4 and 5 too, but there's too many variables there): TRADE #1 To Van: Sam Reinhart 2021 33rd OA Pick (2nd Round) To BUF: 2021 9th OA Pick (1st Round) 2021 41st OA Pick (2nd Round) 2021 73rd OA Pick (3rd Round) Jack Rathbone Antoine Roussel VAN gets their Top 6 winger to play with Bo, and also get to move up in the 2nd round. BUF gets the 9OA along with a heckuva prospect in Rathbone for Reinhart. They move down 8 spots in the 2nd round but gain a 3rd round pick and a serviceable vet in Roussel. TRADE #2 To Van: 2021 21st OA Pick (1st Round) To BOS: Nate Schmidt Lukas Jasek VAN recovers a 1st round pick, albeit a much later one. BOS adds a very good defenceman to solidify their Top 4. They look good on the RHD side, but could definitely use a defenceman like Schmidt on the LHD. Also they gain a decent prospect in Jasek although signed in Europe for now. UFA Signings and Extensions -- Sign UFA Erik Haula at $2.5M x 5 years (he signs for this amount particularly due to the term) -- Sign UFA David Savard at $4.5M x 5 years -- Petey and Hughes extended on bridge deals at $7M x 3 years (was hoping $6.5M, but it looks more likely to be $7M at this point) -- Re-sign Reinhart at $5.9M x 5 years (used William Karlsson as a comparable - he signed his deal in 2019-20) -- Re-sign Hamonic at $2.5M x 3 years -- Re-sign Edler at $2.25M for 1 year (and less as each year goes by) 2021 NHL Draft Picks (first 2 rounds only) -- Canucks select Fyodor Svechkov 21st overall -- Canucks select Scott Morrow 33rd overall 2021-22 assumptions: -- Kraken is provided a sweetener in the form of Kole Lind to take Holtby -- Beagle traded with $1M retained -- Goodbye Virtanen Assumptions for Future Years: -- Boeser signs a $7M AAV extension -- Horvat signs a $6.5M AAV extension -- Miller signs a $7.5M AAV extension -- Hogs and Podz get bridge deals at $4.5M AAV when ELCs are done
  19. Ok, I'm combining a few of my threads into one to show how we can make the big Reinhart deal and still move forward with a great draft! TRADE #1 To Van: Sam Reinhart 2021 33rd OA Pick (2nd Round) To BUF: 2021 9th OA Pick (1st Round) 2021 41st OA Pick (2nd Round) 2021 73rd OA Pick (3rd Round) Jack Rathbone Antoine Roussel VAN gets their Top 6 winger to play with Bo, and also get to move up in the 2nd round.
  20. Stop making sense people! REMEMBER LOUI ERIKSSON SAYS HI!
  21. Oh ok, didn't know Stenlund just got re-signed... I guess CBJ could very well lose a pretty good forward. I'm sure CBJ doesn't wanna lose any of these guys for nothing: Atkinson, Nyquist, Domi, Jenner, Bjorkstrand, Roslovic, Robinson
