  1. I wouldn't. I think 32 GMs in the league wouldn't either. If VGK offered those 2 for Petey, you'd do the trade?
  2. You don't think GMs look at whether or not a forward is responsible defensively?
  3. Not sure what that does for him? All players get paid in USD as far as I recall.
  4. Petey is a centre. Petey finished 7th in Selke votes this year. There is a $600k difference in taxes between Minny and Vancouver (at $9M AAV). Centre = $1M premium Selke level = $500k premium Taxes = $600k difference $9M + $1M + 500k + 600k = $11.1M Not to mention Kaprizov signed a 5 year deal vs likely an 8 year deal for Petey.
  5. One elite 100+ point guy + scoring depth > NO elite 100+ point guy + scoring depth. Eichel is that guy. He's coming off a major surgery, but still put up 26 points in 22 games in the playoffs and basically a PPG in the regular season.
  6. No you don't. You also pay for potential. There's simply no way Petey will sign on the dotted line at $9.5 or $10M. If you were him, would you?
  7. How do you figure market value for a 24 year old, 39 goal, 102 point, Selke-level 1C is worth 9.5 to 10.5M?
  8. Well, my point is you take Petey out of our lineup and replace him with 2 mid-tier top 6 forwards, and I say we'd take an even larger step backwards. You NEED elite talent to win a Cup. Most teams have 50 to 60 points scorers, not every team has 100+ point guys.
  9. You can't have multiple top paid players, but I argue you need at least 1. Ideally 1 forward and 1 defenceman being your top players.
  10. I take Petey at $11M. I don't think any Stanley Cup winner has not had a top tier talent up front. No Petey = No Cup contender. Pretty simple.
  11. Right? I predicted Miller would get $8.5M AAV, only $500k off, and I think Petey will get $11M or a bit more, so I guess it's fact that Petey will get $11M lol
  12. $1.1M difference in tax alone Petey @ $11M makes a lot of sense given that Petey is the better player overall, and the tax difference. Might even be a tad bit higher than $11M.
  13. Hate the Bruins, but gotta give credit where credit is due. Quite possibly the greatest defensive forward to ever play the game. Highly complete at both ends of the ice, a leader on and off the ice. Bruins will miss him dearly, but so will Team Canada. First ballot HOFer without a doubt IMO.
  14. This could look like a steal. He's bordering on a very competent 2C. At $3M, that'd be a massive bargain.
  15. Barzal just turned 26yo. If he's gonna break out, it'll likely be in these next couple seasons. If he doesn't do that, I think he'll inevitably be a very overpaid 2C level centre.
  16. This isn't about trajectory though. This is about what the player is right now. To call Mackinnon an 88 point player right now because of his career average makes no sense, just as it doesn't make sense to call Miller a 61 point player because his career average is 0.75PPG.
  17. Disagree. You do that with Nathan Mackinnon and you'll look like a complete idiot. Career points per game for Mackinnon is 1.07 or the equivalent of 88 points per season. So do we just disregard how he scored 111 points in 71 games last season, and 88 points in 65 games the season before? Why do we do that with Miller then?
  18. Barzal's age has nothing to do with CURRENT performance. Barzal hasn't been able to replicate his rookie season. He has basically been a 60ish point player ever since. At the absolute MOST, he's been a 70ish point player over 82 games (quite similar to Boeser if you look at it that way). Miller has been over a PPG pace over the past 4 seasons including a 99 point campaign. There is a significant difference at this moment in time between Miller and Barzal when it comes to straight production. In 4 years Barzal might be better, but that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about current production.
  19. Miller was 1.01PPG last season. Barzal was 0.88PPG. That's a pretty significant difference, no? Although in fairness, I felt like he was fading back to the 60 point player by the time we traded him away anyways.
  20. I kinda go off of points. With today's cap limit: 45 to 55 points = $5M 55 to 65 points = $6M 65 to 75 points = $7M 75 to 85 points = $8M 85 to 95 points = $9M 95 to 105 points = $10M 105 to 115 points = $11M 115 to 125 points = $12M 125+ points = $13M+ Obviously extra dollars for bringing more than just points to the table. Bonus for majority of points being goals (ie. 60 goals + 40 assists to me is worth much more than 40 goals + 60 assists).
  21. Matthews signed for 14.64% of the cap limit. Equivalent to $12.1M of today's cap. Mcdavid 16.67%. Equivalent to $13.75M today. We're talking 13.3% for Petey at $11M.
  22. Powerplay leaders since 2019-20 that do not play with one of the greatest offensively gifted players of all time. 117 - Nathan Mackinnon 111 - JT Miller So... JT Miller, do we really need him?
  23. Man if only we had one of these guys in our bottom 6. That'd be amazing!
  24. Except Hronek is a RHD and is better defensively. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Hronek gets $7.5m
  25. Yup, Hronek is definitely getting well north of $7m
